Christmas Countdown - 2011

Haven't gotten started on my day off yet. I got sidetracked trying to figure out how to get MCR playing on my Kindle Fire. I can play the Live365 stream in the browser, but of course it disconnects when the Kindle goes to sleep after a few minutes of inactivity. I downloaded Winamp and had MCR2 up and running for a few exciting minutes, but when I went back to capture the steps so I could post them, Winamp would not play the stream again. It said it wasn't able to play that file type---even though it was playing it mere minutes ago! So I stubbornly messed around with that longer than I should have. I'd better move on to setting up the Christmas trees. That's mainly what I want to get done today, with dozens of other things standing in line behind that.

I think I've decided against the Kindle Fire. I'm going to go with the HTC Flyer, instead. It costs a little more, but it doesn't have any of the proprietary junk like the Fire has. It's also upgradable to a 32mb microSD card.

So, after two weeks of sitting around and looking at my Christmas tree with just lights and garland on it (which is pretty all by itself), I got ambitious last night and put the ornaments on. Tubs and tubs of ornaments. A lot of them were given to me by friends and Patients from where I work, and every time I put them on the tree, I have to take time to remember all these nice people. The tree is now literally groaning with ornaments (I think the rotating stand needs oil), there are so many.

After that, I sat down with my laptop-the one that's only 4 months old. And lo, the keyboard and touch pad decided that they were going to act up (again) and type in Alien. :x After four months of fighting with this bear and trying different settings, I gave up and just ordered a different one. Mr. Cheap Laptop will be making an appearance on ebay soon. I might not be able to sell it, because I feel obligated to point out it's shortcomings. But maybe somebody will buy it to start a fire with. :wink: And that's the LAST time I will buy and 'inexpensive' laptop. Seems that with laptops, like so many other things, you get what you pay for. Considering that I use it in place of a desktop computer, I really should have been more careful. Ah well, live and learn.

me too! I have to do mine different this year. Both my girls moved out this year and have taken their share of decorations. That is one of the reasons it is not done yet, still thinking about it!

Got home yesterday and feel 1000 times better! Drinking a big ol cup of coffee and watching Sportscenter. No work for me today, so there will be plenty (and I emphasize plenty) of Christmas movies. So, I'm off.....off to read the boards and watch, umm, well, we will start with the Polar Express!

Tonight is my FIRST Christmas party of the season! Our Neighbors put on a very nice party. Christmas music is playing there at they have treats and snacks as far as the eye can see! Sorry, I'm drooling. heh. I brought in mini candy canes today to work for all my co-workers! Not much is new. I fell asleep on the couch again last night watching a movie. I paused it, just wanting to close my eyes for a few moments. I knew FULL WELL that I would fall asleep. And I did. Whoops! This weekend my Son William who is 2 will write a letter (Well I will lol) to Santa! This will be his first year writing to the big man in red. I want to make it as magical as I can for him! Well back to work I go! Have a Christmasy day! PS We had a light dusting of snow!

I am also attending my first Christmas party of the Season tonight, too! Although it is for Kim's work and I will only know a couple people, I am very excited! Have fun writing a letter to Santa from/for your son! I'm sure you will make it a magical and memorable experience for him!

Our office party is scheduled for Monday the 12th. We always have a nice party at a nice restaurant, and I look forward to them. This year, however, someone decided we needed to do something different. So now we're going to the local bowling alley/putt-putt/laser tag/arcade/chicken finger place...and the kids aren't even invited! Oh well.

Wow! That sounds like an awesome and fun Christmas party! I'm sure it will be a great time... even without the kids!

Good afternoon, everyone!

A busy morning forced me to delay my visiting/posting until this afternoon. Happy Friday! The first weekend of December is nearly upon us. I am very excited to have the clock strike 3:45 PM and allow me to punch out for the weekend! And, when I walk out of work, there will be snow in the air and on the ground!

We had received a few centimeters of snow last night. It made for a very cheerful walk to the bus. Christmas music and snow always brighten my mood at 7:30 AM! Speaking of which, after today, there are only three more work weeks until Christmas (two for me)! Exciting!

Hopefully I will be able to make a few visits throughout the weekend. Tonight should be fairly busy with Kim's work Christmas party. Tomorrow afternoon, the Kings are playing the Canadiens, whom I loathe, so it is a must watch.... and Sunday is football. The Packers game is on at 4:15. Excited to see them take on the Giants. Plus, I have indoor frisbee on Saturday night and flag football on Sunday night. Oh, and I'll have to find time to go to the gym, too. Busy weekend ahead of me! I wouldn't have it any other way.

Good Morning everyone... I am sooo NOT in the spirit... it could be because we have not finished decorating yet and everyone in our house hold has been suffering from colds for the past week. I missed a couple days of work and while I was home was really not in the mood to watch any Christmas movies. Really am hoping its just this cold that is causing the humbug in me right now.
Since everyone is starting to feel better we want to take the kids to a couple Christmas related events this weekend, a local christmas parade, some speciality shops and our town is having Christmas in the local park with Santa and lighting of the Christmas decorations in the park on Sunday night. .
I did manage to get out my Christmas cards last night so I am hoping to start on them tonight and get them in the mail by next week... Still cant get over how fast time is going by...

Sorry to hear that, Minta. Hope everyone in your house is feeling better soon, and that you have fun this weekend! Sending some Christmas cheer your way!!

Well! I got both trees up, and the smaller one in the TV room is decorated, but I'm feeling melancholy rather than Christmassy. It's always an emotional thing for me to decorate the tree---so many ornaments have memories, and the past is full of thoughts and feelings. I think the TV room tree looks nice, but ... it lacks something, I don't know what, that would give it that special glow.

Well, I'd better get things cleaned up and put away so I can relax a little. Monday I'll take in my office decorations when I go back to work.

Good afternoon, Christmas family !

I wasn't here yesterday because of a new stressful situation with my job/compay but I am not going talk about that now..

I had my one year eye exam after surgery today and they dilated my eyes. I am still seeing things kind of odd so if I type something that doesn't make sense I am going to lay it on to that.

We had to buy a new angel for outside - our old one whose lights still work, has a short in the cord ! The new angel is outside set up and ready to do her Christmas duty starting tonight.

I have been getting so many wonderful Christmas cards from all of you - Thank you all - It means so much to me.

Tomorrow I am off to good old Akron,OH where my sister is. It is our annual decorate her tree and act like silly loons together day !! Plus I am going to give her the birthday gifts I got her even though her birthday was December 1. We are planning on Christmas shopping too !!

I don't know what kind of Christmas programming is on this evening but I am really feeling Christmassy today !!
