Christmas Countdown - 2011

Merry Christmas Eve Eve Everyone!
I'm trying my best to savor every minute of this time of year while it is here.
I am enjoying the calm quiet moments of the holidays more than anything else this year, in past years it was the parties, all the excess and craziness that seemed to grab my attention most, but this year, it is these quiet moments like this when I can reflect on the feeling and spirit of the holidays that are the high point of this Christmas season . I am sitting here realizing that despite a very rough and frustrating year 2011 has been, I am truly blessed and filled with joy and gratitude for all the blessings I have.
The area I live in is being hit by a crime wave that we have never seen before, break ins, home invasions, business after business being robbed and burglarized, there are even people going around following the UPS and FedEX trucks and stealing packages left by them, I spent the last two days keeping vigil on my tracking numbers and making sure I was home to get my packages soon as they were dropped off, thankfully all my orders are here now. There are so many people that are so desperate this year, it is just sad and an unfortunate byproduct of the state of the world and economy we live in these days. But despite all the sad news, the Christmas spirit continues to make the news, I just had watched about the "layaway angels" people that have been going to Kmarts and anonymously paying off peoples layaway accounts.
On a lighter note....I'm watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer on my phone! Someone was kind enough to upload the full program in HD on youtube, and while I have this on DVD....it is really cool to be able to watch it in HD on my phone lol :cheesy:

Hi MMC family! I first want to check in to the countdown for the day and say hi! I will get caught up here in a little bit, but like I said, wanted to say hello.
I've been very busy this morning, non-stop since 7 am. Got up then, fed DS and then have been doing housework.
Last night was my inlaw's families Christmas. It was very nice and we had a great time. We has have italian food, so that's our background. It was great food paired with wine that my FIL makes himself.
DH goes into work tonight at 4:30, so I plan on checking in and out tonight, but once I get the kids to bed around 9 or so, I will be here non-stop. I will be here tonight for Darlene Love! It will be my first one! I am excited! She has such a beautiful voice!

Good Morning, all! Just popped in for a moment--I think I'm finally ready for Christmas Day! I'm watching The Snowman (1982) while eating breakfast. I'd forgotten what a sweet film it is. What a great post! I have to say I feel the same way this has been a tough and trying year for me but I have so much to be thankful for!!!
I am probably going to bed early tonight but will set my alarm to be here at 11 pm..this will be my first year participating in the LOVE party!

I can't believe it's Christmas Eve tomorrow!
My parents arrived last evening So happy to have them here! I'm going to try & give them a Christmas like the ones they gave my sister & I when we were kids. So many traditions & wonderful memories made!
I probably won't physically be here this evening for the Darlene Love appreciation party- my Mom & I will be baking late into the night, but I will definitely have the tv on, and will be here in spirit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know life will take over, and we all won't be around as much for the next few days. I just want to thank you all again for your friendship! We really have such a close knit Christmas family, and I treasure each & every one of you.
