Hey everyone!

I just realized when I came in today that it is LESS than 300 days until the beginning of the Christmas season! That is a lovely sparkle of happy in this otherwise trying week:) Final exams, final presentations and this course will be over on Monday! Then maybe I can exhale..until the next course starts anyway. It's supposed to be raining all night tonight and even though it isn't snow it's a good excuse to cozy up with a cup of hot chocolate anyway:) Have a blessed and safe night everyone! Tell someone that you love them today. They may already know it but they'd probably like to hear it anyway. It's currency in their emotional pocket:)

Hi friends. Stopping in for the evening to say hello. Just finished up with dinner. Soon it will be the bath and bedtime for the kids, so just sitting her with them, trying to spend some time with them.

Seems like the days go by so quickly. My weekend will soon be half over already! I guess that is what happens when you're having fun! Oh well...

I hope you're having a wonderful evening. I'm off to read more of the countdown and get caught up!

going back already? Here mom's get a whole year off for maternity leave.
Glad to hear she loves to teach. Such a difference when a teacher loves what they do.

I haven't read on yet to see if anyone replied, but wow...that is amazing. A year...how can people afford that! We can only 12 weeks of FMLA (family medical leave of absence) here in the states. You have to use your vacation, holidays, sick time (if you even have any) first and whatever you don't have is without pay, at least that is what my employeer is like. You can get insurances that will pay short term disability like AFLAC, but it is just one lump sum.

Love the quote at the end!!! Beautiful!!!

Sneaking a peek ... I'm about burnt out on the work I'm doing. I still don't have a full-blown cold, but I do feel crummy ... sore-ish throat, tired, kinda achy and headachy. I hope there's time to relax tonight.

I hope you feel a little bit better today and you were able to relax last evening.

Hey everyone! Looks like I'm going to be stuck in tomorrow. The meteorologists were only calling for an inch of snow from this evening to tomorrow morning, and we already have three. I looked out the window and it is a complete white out. They are calling for more snow tomorrow, tomorrow night, and some Saturday. I really can't afford to be missing class but I'm going to have to if the roads are bad!

Be careful out there!

you know, there is no rule here stating "thou must reply to all posts" LOL
You just need to show up once in awhile and brighten up the place!
:merry:

This I know is true! I am just an apologetic person for no reason sometimes. I guess I am just saying sorry for missing you guys! :)

They ended up with a little over 16 inches of snow. So they didn't get as much as expected but it still has everything shut down. My sister is worried about taking my niece down to the children's hospital tomorrow for her appointment because they got a lot of ice down in Seattle today. She was going to cancel the appointment but they couldn't get her back in until April. So my BIL is going to take off of work and take them in his blazer since it's 4 wheel drive.

Wow...that's a lot of snow. Sorry I just got to reading this now. I would have prayed for safe travels. I hope they did have safe travels. I pray her appointment went well.

Aren't you all happy it's Friday? I'll be busy tomorrow morning, but I'm going to be lazy tonight. And I got my yarn on the way home, so let it snow---I'm all set.

Hmmmmm, with so many of us getting this awesome book, maybe it is time to petition Time-Life to do an update of it, I think a lot of us would buy it as soon as it comes out.

I'd go for a reprint, but not an update ... I actually have a more recent Time-Life Christmas book that Mr. got for me (all different photos and material). I like it, but I always come back to the 1987 edition first.

Do you happen to have a list? That sounds like the perfect thing to get through and I'd love to know what some of the songs/artist are.

I'm sorry to say I don't have a list. I downloaded most of the recordings from various websites that I stumbled across, like the Cylinder Preservation and Digitization Project and Tinfoil.com and others I don't remember. I don't even know the artist or year for some of the recordings. Most of the songs are Christmas hymns rather that "pop," but there are novelties like "Santa Claus Hides in the Phonograph" and comedy or dramatic monologues. There are also some non-Christmas wintertime songs that I really enjoy (although many of them seem to be about how winter is the perfect time for guys to cozy up to girls on the pretext of keeping warm!). Some of them are over a hundred years old---it fascinates me to realize that I'm listening to people who lived that long ago, and we still sing many of the same songs to celebrate Christmas.

I had no idea what Sheetz was, I am watching a movie called "The Greatest Movie Ever Sold" and the guy is interviewing the owner of Sheetz at a Sheetz gas station. Now I know! It is equal to the store/gas stations up here called Cumberland Farms.

Back where I come from in Maryland they have Sheetz---we usually stop there for gasoline and a snack cake when we visit back home.

I found this little lady in the thrift store today for only $5

Did not realise what her name was until I got home...

Even before I saw the name, I KNEW it had to be Mrs. Cratchit, because of the Christmas pudding and the patches on her skirt! (And she looks like she has her "doubts about the quantity of flour"!)

Go ahead and ring for tea or cocoa. Made is on-call!!!

Can i have one large tea wth no sugar and plenty of milk are you doing biscults as well or cookies ???

Sounds good to me, too---but put two sugars in mine and bring me some of those cookies, too!

My grandchildren were over earlier and watching Mickey's Christmas Carol. I said, "oh no, there's Scrooge"! My grandson looked at me and said, "I thought his name was Steve"? I said, "Ebeneezer Steve"??? He said, "yes".

Hahaha...this is so cute! The things that kids say!

Oh Sugar I hope you get that extra day!!?

Thanks LB. I got called in around 1:30 am. We had a labor patient come in and I had to be there in case she delivered, but she never did until 7:30. Oh well. I made time and half! It was worth it!

from our government website: parental benefits can be paid for a maximum period of 35 weeks. The payments must be made within 52 weeks of the week your child was born or the week your child was placed with you for adoption.

It is part of a government program to help support the family. I have heard of couples splitting this time, mom takes the first 1/2, dad the second. Their jobs are also guaranteed to be there for them when they return.

Good Morning Merry Chums!

Today our once little ***** cat, turns 7 years old.

EditedChristmasPhotos005-1.gif

Even when he was little, he looked ready to take on the world!

I remember when we first saw him ... the sunlight on the back porch showed his bright orange striped pattern and I was thrilled that he was an orange ***** cat. His mother was calico and I thought he was black and brown for some reason. He fit into my hands, he was so small.

Look at him now, waking up from his evening nap!

Weighing in at nearly 27 lbs.
As much as he's made our lives a struggle at times, he has taught us a thing or two about patience.

Happy Birthday - King O'Malley! :gift:

Happy Birthday to O'Malley cat!

We have family in the province of Quebec that have done the splitting of the time like that. I was able to take a month off when both my boys were born, thanks to FMLA.

I hate sleet!!!!!! Why can't it just snow.
