Mom and I just watched Giada De Laurentiis' Christmas special that we had recorded on the DVR. All I have to say? It put me so into the Christmas spirit!!! The house she was cooking in was a cabin that was all decked out for the holidays and decorations were everywhere inside - needless to say I didn't let her delete it so I can keep re-watching all winter!

Good morning everyone-I have been so out of touch this year so far...I have been reading here and there, but wanted to say Seawaters---sending (((hugs)) to you and praying for you as well! and everyone else who is not feeling well I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Welcome to our merry world Jordan!
Congratulations on your precious gift. Small enough to fit half your arm length and big enough to fill your world with love.

Saturday ... after the weekly bookkeeping, I took down the outdoor decorations, and that's all I got done. Didn't even get to the trees today. Went out to have some lunch with a gift card we got for Christmas, and we're going to visit a friend and his family in a little while for a belated Christmas/Hanukkah celebration. I hope I have enough energy for this. It's an old high school friend of Mr.'s, and they get loud and boisterous talking over old times! I guess most of tomorrow will be spent taking down the trees and packing away seasonal items. Not looking forward to that.

Do it with Christmas music playing, grab some hot cocoa, mulled wine or eggnog and a few Christmas cookies or chocolates - that will help make it as special taking it all down as it was setting it up. Make it a reason to celebrate!

Sorry to say, I didn't ... I was in my 20s, and the friends I had then sort of shied away from me. They stopped returning calls and answering letters, and eventually "backed out" of my life. It was a lonesome, awkward time. I don't know how I got through it. My greatest peace is having a husband who told me before we were married that if cancer ever struck again, I wouldn't be alone.

The co-team-captain of our Relay team tried to go through her second bout with cancer without letting people know what was happening because the first time she went through it, everyone treated her differently, they didn't know what to say and she didn't want special attention, just the friendships to continue. She didn't last long keeping it a secret the second time because when she told me about it, I told her she should include some other people in her circle of trust because she shouldn't have to go through all the nightmares on her own. She did.

I walk with her in the survivor lap every year so I can wear a survivor shirt for the person I'm dedicating my walk for and then I mail it off to them. Last year, I had some of my survivor pals sign the shirt. Then I whipped out another one and when I explained my intentions, they couldn't believe I'd be sending shirts all the way to Texas and Scotland just to cheer someone up.

COMPARING 1961 TO 2011

Gettin' a wee bit too truthful - that was funny!

You reminded me of someone I know! My grandma's neighbor and I were always very close. She has a grown son who is married with two children of his own. His wife will not allow anyone but him or her to hold the children/hug them/etc because she believes they are not allowed to "bond" with anyone else. I could not imagine being my grandma's neighbor (the grandma to the children) and not being able to hold/hug my grandchildren! The one child is five and the other two.

I've never heard a such a thing. It's one thing to guard your babies from the well intentioned unknown shoppers at the local Walmart and such from touching them and spreading their germs around and a whole other thing when a parent worries that much about her children bonding with someone else. I'm guessing she has an underlying fear that her children might actually chose someone to love other than her own parents. That's terribly sad.

For example ...

My husband's ex-wife and I have celebrated Christmas under the same roof twice and get along very well. Her husband doesn't come over to join us, he thinks it's weird. My husband wasn't nice to his first wife, he was selfish in those days. He matured and has always treated me like royalty. She and I get along very well. I'm pretty easy to get along with unless you're full of negative energy and a genuine Oscar or Ebenezer (which her current husband is) so it works out well that he doesn't join in our family celebrations. I just want our grandchildren to feel love and look back on Christmases with pleasant memories. We don't fight and we don't compete for their affection; we just want them to be happy in life. I understand that not all ex's can get along the way we do; in fact I'm somewhat responsible for the friendship my husband and his ex share. I remain happy for the grandkids that we have such healthy relationships. Isn't that a wonderful gift to offer any time of the year?

We used to go to Myrle Beach every summer. They used to have a place called The Pavilion where everyone met to talk and dance. They had the BEST french fries. Either that or the ocean air made them taste better than other french fries.
girl..what you talk'in 'bout? i loved the pavilion!
Do you know if it is still there? My weakness is french fries - I HAVE to have those! HAHA
no, they tore it down about 3-5 years ago-had to make room for newer stuff you know! try -peaches corner on ocean blvd. or sam's corner in garden city! neither looks real fancy but they both have great fries. i prefer sam's myself! oh & it's just across the street from the garden city pier & every night they have a band on the end of the pier & they also have a bar & dance floor.
I haven't been since I was a freshman in college. Someone told me, though, they tore it down. But I bet they have someone selling French fries. Maybe someone will write a song about that!!! (Cue Radio Jon D.)
just south of where the pavilion was (maybe 2 miles) is Family Kingdom, it's mostly an amusement park but you can still get the "feel" of it kind'a.
I just saw where Xmas 365 is celebrating a birthday today!

Happy Bday, friend!
yeah, happy belated birthday xmas365!!

Glad you liked it. I was going to "click the naughty list", but hey, I decided to go the other route - hahaHoHo!
sshhhh auntie m. now you promised we would keep that between you & i so Santa wouldn't find out!

Good afternoon, MMC!

Where did the morning go? I have been cleaning house for hours with Palmer helping me out every step of the way. Needless to say, I haven't progressed very far in said cleaning

It is a good day to stay in, though, as according to my sinuses/allergies, the weather is changing. Ugh! Not sure what we have in store for us, but I sure did enjoy the 50 degree weather we had yesterday and wish it would continue!

I am going to make baked potato soup chowder later this afternoon, and if time permits, I will make either a pineapple or coconut cake. I have already started trying out new recipes for the Christmas Season

Have a MERRY day!!!!!!!!!!!
hope you feel better meceka, the cake sounds good, let me know how it turns out!
Wow, y'all have been busy! I know I'm never going to get caught up now! Well, today the tree comes down. I've been drinking coffee and taking the ornaments off the tree. It's bittersweet, but if I never took it down, I'd never have the fun of putting a tree up in December! Or at least that's what I'm telling myself.

My church's youth group's Christmas play will be tomorrow--by custom they put it on the last day of the Christmas season. So that should be fun!

Well, better get on it again--I'll try to drop by later. Have a good day, all.
that's really cool, how you look @ undecorating the tree!
This is such a rare sight I just had to get a picture of it.....

My kitchen all clean and tidy and all my cake decorating supplies all stored away!

star, please come & do mine next!
Hello everyone!

It is a warm but cloudy day here in Alabama today. I'm not complaining though.
I got to play with my sweet great-nephew this morning. He is 3 months old. He just smiles and "talks" all the time (except when he is hungry or sleepy). He is so precious.

It is going to be a lazy day for me today. I don't have much planned except housework and watching football. Life is good, and God is great!!

I hope you all have a wonderful, stress-free day.
TTYL!
i had a lazy day too, aren't they just fabulous?

Good evening, Christmas family

Well today was an odd day. My company had asked me to work today instead of tomorrow so I could cover radiology. I was glad to do it..but my time in my head is all messed up !! I didn't even get to wish Xmas a happy birthday til now....What a friend I am !

At least I am off tomorrow. I am attempting to start back on maintenance again....weight has been gradually creeping up. It is so tough right now because for some reason the Winter is my "comfort food" season........

I watched/listened to Music Choice last night until the Christmas music stopped. Then I turned to Contemporary Christian and they were playing Christmas Music !! I was so elated !

((((Hugs)))) of course to our Seawaters !!

Also to all the furkids, Palmer, Harlowe, Snickers, Ella, Snowball, Gomez, Scooby, Sasha and all the furkids everywhere xoxoxo

Gosh I am tired.....I will talk to everyone later. I hope everyone who doesn't feel well will be better soon ((Hugs)) xo
cm3, been thinking about you & hope all is well & everything gets back on track for you. love & hugs doll!

Good morning,

I got up earlier than I wanted today, just couldn't sleep any longer, I am watching, A Night At the Opera (Marx Bros.) now, one of the funniest movies ever made. I may take all my outdoor decor down today, I don't know yet, we have other things to do.

Have a great day!

My brother was a huge Groucho fan, I liked Harpo. Grew up watching all those films and still watch the odd one now and then.

Good morning, MMC! Sorry I just kind of skipped out of here last night without saying goodnight. I developed a migraine and headed straight to bed. Light, sound, all that jazz was bothering me. Of course - it has to happen on my weekend off! I still have a little bit of a headache, but it is getting better!

Not too much planned for today, except for DH and I are going to keep cleaning the house. The Steelers play their first play-off game tonight as well, but I won't be able to see really any of it since I have to work. Hope they win!

Hope you all have a great day! I am going to get caught up on the countdown here a little bit and drink a cup of coffee, then go clean, so I can relax this afternoon. Enjoy your day, everyone! :-D

OHHHHHHH MADE AND COACH... we will be covening our first DARLENE LOVE FANCLUB meeting in a few days,... I will be in touch to discuss the agenda,...

We need to meet soon! 1st item on agenda....watch the performance again....2nd item on the agenda....watch the performance again....3rd item....watch the item again while Made lip syncs....4th items....watch the performance again....and on and on and on....

I may take all my outdoor decor down today, I don't know yet, we have other things to do.

Did that yesterday....all done!

I miss those days when both kids would take a nap.

DS for some reason isn't a very good "napper" though. He just nods off here and there. I guess it is just his age. He sleeps fine at night. Hopefully he will do better once he is a little older.

I am sure you do! :-D

Good morning! Overcast here today. Look yucky out. But the coffee is good and the weather is always good on MMC.

Going to hang out today and do some work and cleaning. Not much, but enough to keep me busy. Plan on watching some football and probably cooking.

Alright gang, I'm going to go read some other threads. See you later!

Good Morning, Folks.

Half a weekend gone -- half a weekend to go.

What else is about to go by?
Our first Milestone of 2012, that's what!
Days to the Season: 310
Days to Christmas Day: 352
Single digits tomorrow. (To the 300-day Season marker, that is!)

Still quite warm (54) here for January, but the chance of rain is increasing, and cooler (not cold) weather is coming.
Oh, well. We wouldn't want it TOO warm for this time of the year, would we?

May you have the Superest of Sundays, my Friends.
{ "Superest". Is that even a word, Crown? }
I don't know, but Carl thinks it should be. And he's a wise camel, you know.

Keep the Christmas faith, everyone!

Good morning, MMC!

Have a MERRY day!!!!!!!!!!!

Christmas Holdover Report.

At this time of year, to ease the passing of Christmas blues, I like to look to see how many Christmas decorations are still up.
I'm pleased to report that a least a third of the houses in our neighborhood have their outdoor ornamentation still in place!
Even Crabtree Valley Shopping Center has not taken all of theirs down yet.
And the "A Christmas To Remember" store, who's photo launches our annual Blossoms thread, is still operating. I inquired as to when they would close and was told January 16.
Over a week left to see them and remember Christmas 2011!

(Makes me feel a little better!)

How about you? Many decorations still left in your areas?
(Gee. Sounds like a good idea for a new thread!)

Everyone who has send prayers and well wishes for me and my family thanks so much it really means alot to me too!! I hope to be around more lately but don't know how possible that will be,but I will try!!! Have a good day everyone!!!

I haven't asked lately Dawg, any update on your dad? How has he been feeling lately?

Good Sunday morning, my Christmas friends!

We're about to walk out the door going to church, but I have a second to post.

Yesterday was CRAZY busy at the store. I had to cook breakfast for 30 people who wanted it at 7am, thenI had to have steaks for 24 people for a lunch party, then there was a pizza birthday party...all in the same day! I was glad to see my shower and my couch last night!

Today, I get my offical swearing-in for my new office, then my first council meeting as mayor tomorrow night. Cross your fingers and send me a quick prayer!

I hope y'all have a wonderful day! cheesy

Anybody else watching these football games? Looks like Detroit and New Orleans will be a great game.
Wayne has been watching some of it. He is waiting for his Ravens game though!
Weird, weird, WEIRD! That is unnatural and unhealthy for those poor kids! Sorry to say but those kids are going to have some bonding issues as they grow. How selfish for the parents to not let GRANDMA hug them! Kids requires hugs, (from trusted people of course). I would think it would make the kids very "needy" and will cling to their parents all the time. I bet the parents will wish they had not raised them that way as they get older and notice some clingy issues. I hug my grandchildren all the time!
Not in the least. They use a camera when they do the surgery. They put a tube down his throat, use the camera and then blow up the tube to break the ring that closes in on his esophagus. He has to have it done once every two to five years.
I might have missed a post but why does he have to have this done. I never heard of it. Sounds painful! I will add him to the prayer list!
ok it is all down- the DARLENE LOVE TREE is down... with the Baby please Come Home skirt.. the BABY PLEASE COME HOME Star and the BABY PELASE COME HOME singing ornaments.. ohhhGod.. how long till we again SEE DARLENE ON LETTERMEN>>>>?

YABBA!
Seems like forever! I can't wait for Ms. Love!

I seen that one a couple of times! It's such a pretty place they visit and have Christmas together!

Take care of yourself and your new family! We will miss not seeing you all the time but we will be here when you are ready!
I have huge inflated lymph nodes in my throat, which hurts and is inconvenient, but apparently not uncommon *never happened to me before*, i don't want to get ill, so i have been taking extra care of myself! (and of course my boyfriend is as well, which is nice )
I hope you stay well!
She did.

Very nice of you! You are a good friend to offer your support like that!
Light, sound, all that jazz was bothering me. Of course - it has to happen on my weekend off! I still have a little bit of a headache, but it is getting better!
I hope that headache goes away!

Our tree is still up, but our outdoor decorations came down yesterday. There are only a few houses in Bellville that still have outside decorations up now. Thankfully, I've been to busy this year to dwell on Post Christmas Blues, so it hasn't been too bad for me...so far!

I haven't asked lately Dawg, any update on your dad? How has he been feeling lately?

Hey!! He is in a nursing home doing physical therapy...I can understand a little of what he says but he has a long road ahead..maybe 6 months before he can go home..but we are very hopeful he will have somewhat of a good life once he completes therapy...thanks for asking!

Yes it does! =)
As I look out across the field where I live I see one house with lights up. Not sure how long it will remain that way.

You're not done cooking breakfast yet, buddy! I am hungry! he he!

We are excited for you as you venture into mayor life! Good luck to you!
