May I ask a question? (haha I already did cheesy )

With the weather being so crazy across the country, today it is in the 80's and tomorrow it will be in the 90's, I can't help but to feel worried about tornadoes coming through here again. When it happened last June it never crossed our mind, and a tornado like that coming the way it did through a 39 mile path right through the middle my town, I worry it could happen again. I know it is probably a once in a lifetime event. But I can't shake the fear or worry of what I saw 10+ months ago. Is this normal to feel that way? Should I go talk to a shrink or something?

Why wood it not be normal. we all fear something. its like if we fall on ice the fear is there we might fall again. if we get our home broke into. the fear is there it might happen again. if someone has a heart attack the fear of another one
If we experienced something we always fear that coming back again.
Sometimes we just have to get on with it. you cant live your life in fear of the unexpected. What you saw yes was probably scary and yes the weather being the way it is.is making you think about it more. i can see where your coming from. But only you knows how much this is effecting you and your life. and if you feel you need to talk to someone about it do so.

Xmas: this game has no defense!

Chemo starts tomorrow, 4-16, 2012. I will be receiving Cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan) and Doxorubicin (Adriamycin) by chemo port and then the next day, I will receive Neulasta to help protect against infection. The side effects from the chemo are listed as moderate to severe, so I can expect pretty much total hair loss in addition to all the other side effects. I have to really get into a routine of drinking lots of water as I go through chemo. We have bought the Vitamix so I can make nutritional smoothies that will also help with some of the side effects, like mouth and throat sores and nausea. I am NOT looking forward to going through this, but I am looking forward to living.

On Wednesday, I went to the hospital to get the chemo port put it. Because of the lymph nodes removal and possible lymphedema, I cannot have anything done to my arms. So, to get an IV started, the nurse FIRST tried the top of my foot. No go. Then she tried the other foot. No go. Talk about pain!!! Then she tried the back of my hand. No go. Then she tried a prominent vein on my wrist. No go. Finally, I told her to do it in my left arm (only one lymph node removed) and call it good. It worked.

When I went into the surgery room, one of the nurses asked me what kind of music I wanted. I said, “Christmas.” So they put on Pandora and played Christmas music for me. Of course, I was “asleep” for quite a bit of the surgery, but I awoke to Dean Martin playing in the background. I asked one of the nurses if he were bored listening to the music. He said he would have been prior to his marriage. But his wife LOVES all the holidays, and he said he now likes Christmas music and loves to celebrate all the other holidays, too.

Is it anything like the 1991 and 1992 cup teams? I have vague memories!

((((Cherylle)))), I pray the chemo goes smoothly and there are minimal side effects for you!

((((CM3)))), I will keep praying for Ivy, you and your husband!

Made, I am praying for your niece!

Xmas365...heck no, you don't need a shrink! What you are dealing with is perfectly normal. You may think the weather makes you more anxious, but it is also making you more alert. Over time, as more storms come through, it will get better. But it's going to have to run it course. As long as it doesn't dominate your thoughts (like when there is no chance of bad weather), then don't sweat it.

Seawaters...good luck, dear friend. My aunt got done with chemo a few months ago and a good friend got through with chemo less than two weeks ago...they are both fine.

Of course it's normal. When the tornado hit behind the autozone I worked at it threw all kinds of debris onto our building. The people who were working that night got tense every time it stormed after that. I'll admit that I've had the opposite reaction. The first one I experienced I rode out in a tent at a boy scout camp. After surviving that I became fascinated by them. So when the next 2 hit close to our house, I stood outside to watch them. Including one that passed through a corn field about 500 yards away from our house.

I agree with Sugar though. If you feel like you need to talk to someone go do it. Talking about it and putting your feelings out there will help you cope with it.

That's known as a healthy respect. More folks need to have one in regards to severe weather.
