Well, the rain continues. Looks like summer is going to be a complete washout again. On the up side it looks like we are one step closer to getting our new house. Hope everyone is keeping well. Tomorrow is the hump already, sure its almost the weekend people.

well, totally jealous of everyone having beautiful weather!.. Of course on the upper west coast it's all rain and wind. boooooooooooo I think the whole month of June we had one okay day. HOPEFULLY you guys stop hogging all the gorgeous sunshine!!!!!!!! hahahahah

I am on 3 days off now, WOOHOO!! Expect to see me kicking it around here more!

It's cooling off tonight, but it may rain during the parade tomorrow. I have a feeling it's going to be very busy downtown because last years parade and Summerfest were canceled due to the tornado cleanup, so it is going to be a true celebration tomorrow of the town coming back. We also have a big cookout after the parade here for friends and family.

Off tomorrow thankfully !! The fireworks are rampant around here tonight but no worry, I will protect my kids from being scared. Poor Hermione, this is her very first 4th of July....When I went out with her a few moments ago there were fireworks going off somewhere in the distance and she looked at me with that wrinkled hound face.......I just told her it was okay stayed right with her....and she was fine.

Wish does tend to "go potty" a lot Shellie but I don't care. In fact I am glad of it. As long as he is doing so that means the medicines are working !!!! I got his medicines ready tonight for tomorrow as I do each night. He is sleeping peacefully on top of Clancy's "house"......

Had a scar today !! There is a part underneath the kitchen sink where the wall is open a bit and if the kitties got in there, they could go all the way behind the bathtub. They have never gotten in there before until today.......Lily was missing for hours and I began to get panicked. My husband went out to the kitchen and started calling her while he put his hand there in that spot under the sink where the wall is missing and lo and behold, she came to him!! Poor little thing !! She was TERRIFIED !!

When she came out I scooped her up and told her she was okay while I streamed tears on her coat.....she started purring because she knows her mommy loves her xo She was so starved too !! We made sure she got some of her special food (it is a soft kind in a small green can, I think it is one of the Fancy Feast medley family) and she ate it all down in one sitting !! She stuck with me for a while but then gradually went off to play with her brother, Smokey, which told me she was fine...

I am doing NOTHING tomorrow I hope. We were not invited to any 4th of July celebrations so home is great !!

How scary for Lily and you. I'm so glad she showed up! I went through something similar with Mouse years ago so I know what you must have gone through.
Lily's special can is FF Medley all right - I know as that is what Mouse likes. My goodness it is costly! She used to have only a third of a can every day, but after her oral surgery, she wouldn't eat her crunchies. I've slowly weaned her off from a whole can a day to a half a can a day. She was not happy about it, but a month or so ago I looked her in the eyes and told her I can out stubborn you - and so far it is working. I figured if she was hungry enough she would start to eat normal again and I was right. It was sure hard, though, because Mouse can act!
I'm staying home today, too - there are fireworks scheduled all around the area, but I don't like leaving Bo alone as he panics.

wow, what a storm rolling through! Power went out briefly and now is flickering again. Lots of lightening, very loud thunder and pouring rain sweeping across the parking lot.
Not supposed to last to long, we did need the rain so that is nice!
My cat Penny is sitting in the living room window watching it, not bothered at all!

I'm so glad it rained in your area - it is great for our gardens. Penny is a very calm cat - Palmer could take lessons from her!

i can't imagine how scared you must have been when Lily went missing or how scared she was. quick thinking on you & hubby's part to look under the sink. so glad she's ok too.

i can just imagine the puzzled look on Hermoine's little mug when she heard the fireworks last night. bless her. again, enjoy your day cm3!!

Happy 4th Everyone!

I am sitting here on my front porch drinking coffee with all the stray kitties sitting around me and my house kitties looking out the window at me. I really wish I could take these little guys in! There are 4 of them and we did get an organization to fix them all and get their shots (paid a donation to them). My neighbor and I feed them everyday and spend time with them. If I was not renting my home they would probably be inside my house! Then I could be on that animal hoarding show. I am at the limit of 2 dogs and 2 cats, not sure how well that would go if I brought in 4 more cats! I think there is a city legal limit as well. They are just so sweet!!!! Wayne, my son and I do spend a lot of time with them so they get lots of loving! My boss is so sweet and gives me discount on kitty feed for them as well.

Speaking of work, my job is closed but Wayne and I go in to feed the animals today. I just love my job!!!

I hope you all have a Happy 4th!

that's so sweet & kind of you to do so much for the little strays in your neighborhood. most people would've just called animal control w/out another thought about it. not to mention to find a place to fix them & give them shots. you are quite remarkable cah!

Its dark outside right now, black clouds are rolling through. Storms. We need rain. My lawn is brown too. Not much new here. My Wife had a ladies night out last night. I played some Diablo 3 while chatting with friends. Ill be heading off to the pines after work with my Wife and Son. That should be fun. He hasn't met Carl yet! Well back to work I go. my mom is back from Vermont so I took her out grocery shoppng this morning. Storm is past, sun is out and making everything nice and super muggy (same storm you had Undrtakr)

When I was little, we used to have a large family gathering at my grandparents' house. Ever since we lost my grandma, everyone went their own way. My immediate family is just having something small, my grandpa will be over. We're going to be cooking marinated chicken on the grill, vegetables, and have some other side dishes. I love cooking out! We even bought a new grill for the occasion. The rest of the day will probably be filled with corn hole, relaxation, a few drinks, and maybe walking around to see the fireworks. We used to buy packs of fireworks when I was a kid, but we stopped doing that years ago. We'd light them off in front of my house and my neighbors would all come outside and watch in the street - it was so much fun!

I am getting hungry just thinking about all of the yummy food that we are going to be having. The 4th is one of my favorite holidays, but it also bums me out. I feel like this is the halfway point to summer being over. I don't love the summer temperatures all of the time, but I can't say that I am getting excited about being back at college in a couple of months! The only good things coming are two things -- vacation and Christmas!!

Good morning, MMC family! Happy 4th of July!!! Does anyone have any fun plans for the day with family or friends? Cooking out? Parades? Fireworks? Boating? I love hearing so be sure to share :]

Sounds like you're going to have the perfect American Fourth! I feel the same way---after July Fourth, the summer seems practically over. That's why we're going to take a whack at a Christmas in July celebration this year.

When I was a kid, I used to spend the afternoon at the neighbor's swimming pool on the Fourth, and go to the volunteer fire company's carnival in the evening, and watch the fireworks from a neighbor's carport later. Good times!

Today we'll probably cook some hot dogs and corn on the cob, then screen our beautiful I.B. Technicolor 16mm print of "Stars and Stripes Forever," which is a long-standing July Fourth tradition with us. Mr. will be taking care of FIL in the evening, so I'll probably slip in the DVD of "1776" to pass the time, or watch the Boston Pops on TV. (It's more fun to watch the Pops with someone, though.)

That being said, and you are all going to know I am completely Christmas crazy with this, does anyone know if Hobby Lobby has started selling Christmas trees yet ?? Although I just got a new one last year which is beautiful, it is a "pencil" one or thin one and I am looking to get a full tree. They had some very nice trees last year in the Summe but I can't remember what month it was.

We truly have a remarkable gift in this forum. I posted a couple of things in a forum for transcriptionsts and I cannot believe the RUDENESS of some of the people !!! We do not have that here at MMC....everyone is very respectful of one another and I Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your kindness to me. Nothing makes me feel worse than rudeness when all I did was ask a question.

Thank The Lord the power was restored to both my In-laws house and my grandfathers, yesterday late in the evening. It was a crew from PEPCO (out of Philadelphia) that got the power restored for us. They told me that they have been working for 16 hours straight and that there was about 1000 lineman crews from all over the US and Canada that has now poured into Maryland to help with the restoration and clean-up.

I spent the rest of the evening last night getting my grandfathers house back to normal, and then I went over to my in-laws, jumped in their pool. I didn't get up out of bed this morning untill 10:00; I never sleep that late; I was drained.... 4 days without power, what a difference in the way you live...Well, anyway, my thanks goes out to everyone, I'm back!!!!
