Have you heard the "fable" about the starfish where a little kid is walking along a beach and picks up the stranded starfish and throws them back into the ocean. An adult approaches him and asks what he's doing. The boy explains that he is throwing them to safety. The old man looks down the miles of beach and sees so many starfish and talks about how, with so many starfish, it really won't make a difference. The little boy, with a starfish in his hand, says, "It will make a difference to this one."

Hey gang! About to get setup for the day...going to get my work, phone, computer, remotes (with three channel flashback ready with qvc and football), and my favorite...candy corn with peanuts! Boom!

This morning, I went to sit on the deck and it was chilly! I wasn't out there too long. It was 60 and I was in shorts....brrr.....

Today is going to be one of those Sundays...you know...when you sit around don't do much of anything....you know...the best kind of Sunday?

Good Afternoon MMC!

I am enjoying a relaxing day. Cooked a big pot of meatball soup, putting some in the freezer for later. Finished drying a bunch of peppers that I grind up for seasoning. Doing some more work on the decorations for the upcoming cake competition.

It is so chilly here I am actually considering turning on the furnace. It is only 11c (51f) and windy. Also looks like we may get some more rain.

Years ago my sons bike was stolen, found it a few days later in front of someones house.

A couple of years ago mine was stolen, got off city bus and a teen as sitting on it at the bus stop! I asked him why he had my bike and he hoped right off and claimed he found it.

Hopefully you find your daughters bike again too.

So now I got a notion that I would remodel my bathroom...the original from 1949 in my little ranch. OOOOOOOhhhh boy, well the domino effect is now happening where the little project is getting to be big and expensive.
I'm ready to pull my hair out and suddenly my little peach tiled 1949 bathroom is looking not THAT bad!
Keep a good thought for me Christmas friends and know this in your heart- I hereby swear to make this my last big remodeling project in this little Italian girl's lifetime...oh yeah, going out of this house feet first with it looking just the way it is after this project!

Ha ha ha! I totally understand how this can happen. We are (have been in) the middle of a project upstairs - secured a room above the garage so it can be used for storage & added a walk in closet. Contractor was here to do it in March & hubby was going to finish. I'm not sure why he ever started that project right before farming season & summer. But it's ok...it will be a good winter project. Next up...new kitchen cabinets & of course I want to knock out a window, make it sliding glass dooors & add on a "year round" sun room.

So let's see. I took my niece's to the apple orchard to get apples, the grocery store, and to toys r us to get some Christmas ideas. Then I took them home. While at my sisters house I changed her thermostat because she didn't like the one she bought a couple of months ago. I carried 2 twin headboards, foot boards, and side rails up to my niece's rooms. Then put them together. (another gift to my sister from her mother in law). Then I managed to wrestle a 7 drawer dresser up the stairs by myself. I also had to change the flushing mechanism in the toilet in my niece's bathroom. Finally I managed to leave and head home but for some reason my niece's were in the truck with me. So there goes my nap before the greasy skillett starts.

This was one of the recipes that a member brought to the Elks last night. I loved it!

Pickled Salad​

1 14 ½-oz. can French-style green beans
1 15 oz.-can early peas (LeSueur)
1 11-oz. can white shoepeg corn (Green Giant)
1 cup diced celery
½ red bell pepper, diced
½ yellow bell pepper, diced
3-4 green onions, chopped

Dressing
¾ cup white vinegar
1 cup sugar
½ cup garlic flavored olive oil
1 tsp. salt
½ tsp. pepper
1 T. water

Mix dressing ingredients in a pan; bring to a boil for a few minutes. Drain all canned vegetables and then mix them together. Pour dressing over vegetables and refrigerate 24-48 hours.

I have a recipe very similar to this I got from my neighbor. It is SO good!! Seems like if I make it once, I end up making it 2 or 3 more times right after! YUM! Thanks for sharing!

Good afternoon,

We picked our apples, an absolutely beautiful day in the orchard with a crisp chill in the air. Came home and had pizza and apple and pumpkin pie. I don't like pumpkin, but the apple pie was a frozen pie made by Plush Pippin by far the best bake from frozen pie I have had. My Bengals won a nailbiter, but a win is a win. I have to mosey on over to QVC to check out the merchandise at some point.
