MerryCarey I meant to tell you I picked up a Marx Brothers set of movies for $12 at Wal Mart!

Pretty good deal! They also have a W.C. Fields set but I passed it up. I am not a huge fan but might go back for it just so i can see Ms. Gloria in Never Give a Sucker an Even Break.

All the Paramounts for $12---that's quite a score! You're in for a treat. We bought a set long before they were $12. If you haven't seen "The Cocoanuts," don't give up on it ... it's creaky, but it has good stuff in it. The "Cocoanuts" music is by Irving Berlin, by the way.

As for the Fields set, it's very good. If it's the same price as the Marx Bros., go for it. You might discover that Fields is really a very funny guy. If "The Old-Fashioned Way" is in that set, BUY IT. His juggling routine is in there, and it will astonish you. No camera tricks, just a supremely talented juggler. (AND you can see Gloria in "Sucker.")

If the Bing Crosby set with "If I Had My Way" turns up in the bargain bin, get that, too. More Gloria. cheesy (And you get to see Baby Sandy in "East Side of Heaven.")

Heck of a deal, I would pay $12 for Duck Soup alone, such a great and funny movie.

You got that right! Fast, furious, full of world-class puns, and music by Kalmar and Ruby. Good stuff! Only thing that's missing are the solos by Chico and Harpo. Hail Freedonia!

And speaking of twinkies, Carl is overjoyed that they are back on the market once again.
He claims his "celebrity status" and pull helped but.....well.....I don't know.
Regardless, tonight's Shispering Pines theme will of course revolve around the half-way point.
No doubt lots of items will be half off at the 'Pines.
Matches Carl's wit.
(Sorry, that was mean.)

Someone called me a wit once.
They were half right.

I have been debating on picking up the Fields collection. For that price, it is hard to pass it up, even if I haven't been his biggest fan in the past.

Speaking of classic film stars, I also forgot to tell you a story...but it is a little long so I'll post it in the Vintage Film thread as to not clutter up this thread.

Isn't it amazing?!

We don't have one here, but we do in my hometown. So, I go when I visit my family.

Cannot wait to go & see the seasonal decor!!

We only have Michael's, Jo-Ann Fabrics, and A.C. Moore in my neighborhood---what am I missing? I hear so much about Hobby Lobby. According to their store locator, the nearest one to me is 40 miles away in Rhode Island.

I really wish we still had our nice camera...did any of you see the "harvest" moon last night?! It was breathtaking!!

It rained here all night so I didn't get to see the moon at all. Have fun today!!!!!!

Not trying to spend your money for you, but go for it. Fields is funnier when you're (ahem) mature and can understand his frustrations.

Good Morning MMC!!!!!! It's going to be a hot one once again here today. Not much on my agenda. I have a few things to do online and then some things to do around the apartment. My buddy posted on facebook that he got called for a job interview today so I don't think I will hear from him. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!

It's huge, and it has so many crafting & hobby ideas, as well as wonderful classes that they offer. What I love is that they cater to so many different themes, as well. Pretty much any hobby you have, they have the supplies for. It was the only hobby store in Las Vegas (and Vegas is huge!) that had a good selection for miniatures. My girlfriend is a miniatures collector & doll house builder. I love their selection of seasonal decorations, and my sister goes there often for projects for my niece to keep her busy ;) They are a little on the expensive side, but offer good coupons every week. We have a Michael's, JoAnn Fabrics, and Hancock Fabrics here, and when I can't find something, I call my sister & she'll make a run to Hobby Lobby for me!

My girlfriend & her daughter make all of their Christmas presents every year, and they always buy their supplies there.

When all their Christmas stuff is out (in Oklahoma, it is all out by Labor Day, and they make a big deal about it with a big sale), it is quite a sight to behold! The stores around here have a ton of Christmas trees (but they are expensive ones...some are very tall), and rows and rows of decorations. Oklahoma City is the corporate HQ, so I don't know if all stores have as much and are as big as the ones here are. But, it's usually worth going.

MEE TOO!!!! :wiggy:

Mom had her check up with Dr Jonson, [Ophthalmologist] today. Her eye pressure is dangerously high. He immediately put her on 3 new drugs, Lunigan, azarga and alpenhagan.
The lunigan is taken at bed time and the azarga and alpenhagan are taken at breakfast and at bed time.
She is to immediately report any change in her vision and will have laser surgery on July 23.
He expects pressure to be down by that time. If it does not go down further after the laser surgery she will require eye surgery as soon as possible after that.
Please pray that it goes down quickly, the doctor says this could lead to her going blind.

Prayers going up!!

Good morning!!!

I really wish we still had our nice camera...did any of you see the "harvest" moon last night?! It was breathtaking!!

Not much planned for the day, just studying & housework.

It is very foggy out this morning, quite beautiful & mysterious.

Hope you all have a blessed day!!!!

xx

We have huge cracks in the garden, & cracks in the yard! And I would kinda like a night of rain so I can sit in my recliner & watch a movie!!!! Maybe even crochet!!! Lol!!! Hope you are all having a great day!!!
