I just loved going into my classroom to get ready for the beginning of school! We keep our keys all the time, or at least until I retired, LOL! What grade will your wife be teaching?

Hello everyone. Well, not much is going on here...ready for the weekend to officially start! If we can get into the school, we may go work on my wife's new classroom this weekend. My daughter wants to go to the park tomorrow, but we'll have to go early. It's supposed to be around 100 with a heat index of a few degrees higher, so we won't be there in the middle of the day! My kids don't understand why we won't let them play outside long in that kind of heat. It is easy to get sick in a hurry out there.

Other than that, my wife is saying she'll be turning in early tonight as she's very tired. So, I have a night of movie watching lined up. Y'all have a good weekend.

Funny, XmasTidings!

I had a buddy of mine sent this to me, thought I would share with everyone so that you have time to prepare....

Holiday Eating Tips

1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. Like fine single-malt scotch, it's rare. In fact, it's even rarer than single-malt scotch. You can't find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-aholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas!

3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy.
Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.

5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's.
You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

8. Same for pies. Apple. Pumpkin. Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or, if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?

9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards.

10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention.

Reread tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner.

Remember this motto to live by:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Take care, Brent!

August. Where did July go? Work. Work. Work. I guess that's where it went.

Just stopping in for a quick hello. I'm quite exhausted from work and practice. I'm ready for the weekend. Tomorrow at 3:30 cannot come soon enough. I'm sure you all feel the same way, too. Normally I would be even more excited for the weekend - because it's a long weekend in Ontario - but I work in Quebec, so I have to work on Monday. Nuts.

The good news in this? Only six days remain until I have a week off. Yep. After work next Friday, I'll be flying to Colorado to play in a tournament. I'll be staying there until Tuesday (August 13) and then flying to Vancouver to play in another tournament (nationals) in Vancouver. It's going to be an exciting time.

I said a quick hello, but I guess I lied. Oops! Time for bed though. Have a great night, everyone! We're so close to that 100 Days to Christmas Season milestone!

Adrian is a stay-at-home Dad!!! I am sure Harlowe will miss you every day. I wonder how she will react when you are gone on your first long day! Thanks for the prayers in all areas!

C'mon over!! The more, the merrier!! And thank you.

It's so sad what is going on in your parish. I will keep all of you in my prayers.I know how much you liked him.
((Hugs))

I'm glad that your appointment went well!! Extra prayers for you once you start Zometa, as well.

Since I am an independent contractor, it's whenever I want. That being said, I don't make any money until I have a closing. I will be going into the office every day, soaking up as much information as I can. I will get to know the other agents, and shadow them as much they are willing!! It will be a bit chaotic in the beginning, getting set up, computer wise, transferring my license over go the brokerage, taking more classes, getting professional photos taken, business cards, ads, etc. Nights, weekends, whatever is needed. However, that will be more when I'm active. I have the keys to the office, but it is only open M-F. Agents can come & go as needed with their clients.

Harlowe will be at home with Adrian, and we will miss each other dearly.

I'm just grateful that he works from home right now.

xx

She is teaching fourth grade. This is the smallest school in the district, so she's the only 4th grade teacher, meaning she'll be teaching all subjects.

She taught 6th grade reading and English several years before our son was born, but left to stay home with the kids. Now that they are both in all day school (daughter in 1st grade and son in 3rd), she's going back.

Good Friday afternoon, my Christmas friends!

It's been very busy here at work. I'm trying to get ahead so I can be out on vacation all next week. We're finally going back to the Smoky Mountains tomorrow! 8 days of cooler bliss! Mgramsey, I might give you a buzz if we're out near you. Maybe we can meet for a cup of coffee.

Before we can leave, Elizabeth has her audition for The Nutcracker Ballet. It doesn't start till 3:00 pm, so we'll on the road late, but I don't care.

I'll be sure to check in from time to time while we're gone, and I'll try to remember to post before we leave tomorrow, but in case I miss anyone...

HAVE A GREAT WEEK EVERYONE!! cheesy

Good luck to Elizabeth and have a great, safe vacation!

Glad you had such a nice visit with you parents & brother!!

Let us know what goodies you fun at the Christmas Tree Shop!!

xx

Thanks Snowflake!
I was disappointed at the Christmas Tree Shop, they didn't have too much out yet. But I did grab this little sleigh, I like the Santa picture on it.

And I stopped at Joanns to look for the owl apron but they didn't have it. I'll have to pop back in there one of these days to see if it comes in. I did pick up these little signs for Fall.

I didn't have time to go to Hallmark but I may still run up there later!

Hey all...been away on vacation. I'll be trying to catch up tonight.
I'm feeling a little blue as a dear aunt of mine passed this morning.
She faced a lot of very sad things in her life with great courage and I'm glad she has found peace, but I'll miss her for sure.
Baptism this weekend for our little grandson...the world keeps turning doesn't it?
