I forgot to say that I hope you enjoy your day off school. Too bad that you have to use it to do school work. I was the same way, though, and would try to get ahead on stuff. Even as a teacher, I use (or rather used to use) holidays to get ahead in lesson plans and copying!

I suppose I will have to root for the Ravens to win the Super Bowl this year. I am a huge Steelers fan, so this Super Bowl isn't too pretty for me. I would rather see anyone win over the 49ers. They cannot be tying us for #6!

To be honest, I am way more excited that hockey is back. I would be even if my Steelers were still in it. The past couple of years I have really enjoyed hockey. It's such an intense, fast-paced game - so much fun to watch throughout! Our next game is on Wednesday, so I have to wait a couple of days - boo!

I am off from school today so I will be catching up on some school/work stuff!

It is so funny that I was thinking about what your pastor said, too!!!

Now that's a great attitude!!! As my pastor says, "You get to do the laundry, not have to"!

Not always easy to remember that, is it? I have to chant that saying everyday! Anyway, I get to organize my house but it will feel great after I am done!!!

It is cold here in northern California, but, alas, no snow. But what else is new? I had quite a bit of back pain this morning when I woke up, but meds took care of that! I am sitting here with a mug of coffee, reading the posts. I just LOVE doing that. It is like visiting with friends from around the world in my own house. I really thank you all for being a part of my life.

Thank you! I thought it was going to be enjoyable until my professor from my online class slapped a pair project on us. My partner is so difficult to work with. He is taking a vacation this week so wants to do the assignment at 10-10:30 PM my time or later because he is three hours behind. I think it's kind of ridiculous to be working that late when I want to relax on the couch or go to bed. This is why I hate group projects! Online classes should not have group assignments.

You are so right! Why in the world would a professor be so non-thinking? I had ONE professor throughout my college career who was thoughtful enough to allow me to take my last exams early so I could fly to California to be with my new husband before he left for Japan. I don't really like group projects because you have to depend on others who might not have the same work ethic as you. By the way, if you ever need help, just ask!

I so agree! I love that I have my own washer and dryer...they are ancient but work well.

My apartment isn't set up for a washer and dryer so I have to use portable units. The washer just hooks up to my bathroom faucet and the dryer just sits in my kitchen. The vent hose for the dryer connects to a box that you fill with water to catch any lint that makes it past the lint trap. Like you said it's nice in the winter but not being able to vent it outside in the summer is terrible.
can you not stick it out a window?

You and Made are so smart!!! I have always wondered about you and Brent. You are so good and brilliant about giving temps in both Celcius and Farenheit. Do you automatically calculate that or do you just "know" it? Here in the States, not many people outside the medical field do that.
Here in Canada we are metric, but for some reason us older ones still are clinging to the imperial system. (by the way, you Americans are the only country in the world that still officially uses the imperial system) So often the stores will do things in lbs and kgs. Our gas is in Liters, mileage in kms and temps in celsius.
Canada started the switch to metric back in the 70's but it was not official until 1993...but for those of us who lived through the change, we still regress and hop back and forth.

So we end up being a rather mixed up. But I get my temperature conversion from this chart...http://www.temperatureworld.com/ctable1.htm

Hi MMC!!!

How are you all? We here on Long Island are doing well. We had a lovely weekend, the sun was SHINING it was beautiful!!!

We started our hike at 7:30 in the morning on Saturday and my goodness the sights and sounds of the beautiful outdoors. I tell you as we walk the trail and take in the beautiful I can't help but think God is Great, even in the midst of winter there are so may amazing sights. The best is all the holy bushes, I love the way the forest always looks like Christmas because of it.

This weekend we are going on a seal hike to view the Harbor Seals that come down to the tip of Long Island to enjoy what they feel is balmy weather LOL!!! A few years ago we saw the babies rushing into the water, it was so awesome. They have a large Hawk population and bunny population. If you get up real early in the morning, I mean just as the sun is breaking over the ocean you may see the gray fox coming back from the nights hunt, it is truly hard to believe you are on Long Island!!!

Well, enough about me and my last few days, now time to check in with ya'll and see how you have been and what you have been doing...

Miss you guys...

RAVENS GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!

YEAH!!!!!!

Good morning, all! I'm running a little late today, and I'm still pretty foggy from staying up so late last night. My neighborhood went absolutely nuts when the Ravens won...somebody had 'blockbuster' fireworks, and they were still setting them off at 3 am. It wouldn't have kept me up (I'm used to hearing them by now), but Victor the Wonder Dog kept trying to hide under the blankets. Poor baby, he doesn't like loud noises.

On another happy note, the temps have really dropped and we may have snow today! Is this for all my friends who said it would be a cold day in h*ll if the Ravens won?

Oh well, lunch break is over. Talk to you later!

I knew that about the US still doing imperial system. When we were beginning the metric system, especially in school, there was so much opposition that it was basically canned. I admire those who can automatically do both. It is too much for my pea-brain to contend with! LOL

Those numbers do look good. I was thinking today as I read Crown's Countdown post that there is really only a few hours that we are not anticipating Christmas, either current or future. We have a few hours on Christmas Day when Christmas is here in the present, and then we begin anticipating "tomorrow." With the Season running in the background, the Season seems to be so much closer than it appears (sort of like the "saying" on the side mirrors of a car!!!).
Ah. You grasp the whole idea and feeling behind the Season count.
Excellent!
(And our Milestones are a big part of keeping the flow going and making it interesting and fun along the way.)

I printed off the chart for my use. Thanks, Star!

it was hotly opposed here too when first introduced.
