Love this, Track!

Seawaters and MerryCarey: Ray Bradbury book info you might find interesting.

Thank you for posting this! "Dandelion Wine" is one of my all-time favorite books, and I'm really looking forward to having it as an ebook. Three cheers! Wish I could get "Addie Pray" (aka "Paper Moon") as an ebook.

Thank you for all of your prayers and hugs. Things could not have gone better today. The weather was cool and sunny, a couple dozen of Dad's (and my) dear friends and relatives were there, and the pastor did a lovely service---reverent, but with some smiles and happy memories. I heard some stories about my dad that I hadn't heard, and it's nice to know that he was loved and remembered affectionately by so many. One former neighbor told me he came to her house to play Santa Claus for her children one Christmas, and that he was the best Santa she had ever seen. I was too young to remember, because that happened the year I was born, but I have two photos of him in his costume. I also recalled the wonderful outdoor Christmas display he built from scratch out of wood---a huge lighted lectern with a Bible on it, open to the Christmas verses in Luke. We only had it one season because we moved the next year, but it was a beautiful sight. So there was a little Christmas shared today.

Last night's winnings in the raffle and auction at the Elks Lodge: Waterpik Waterflosser, Art Gallery 10 jigsaw puzzles box, coupon organizer, crackers and cream cheese set (cream cheese, Wheat Thins, plate, and an apricot-chipotle spread), a set of stoneware salad/dessert plates in the Homestead Pantry pattern, and three 10-inch homemade pies (peach, apple, lemon meringue). They had an iPad Mini in the auction, in addition to a "buddy-bar," several afghans, two HUGE homemade ceramic bowls (one for salad and one for spaghetti), a handmade knife that was absolutely gorgeous, and lots of other stuff. I think the dinner helped our Lodge bring in quite a few dollars for our charity donations. We will find out on Tuesday exactly how much was made after expenses. The only expenses that are taken out are food and $75 for cleanup. Even the food expenses won't be much because our House Committee is frugal when they buy supplies and always seem to get a good price. It probably cost $3 to make each meal and the Committee charged $10.00 per meal. We did not have a lot of people this year (maybe 55), but at least we made $385 just on that alone. In addition, we probably made close to $2000 on the auction and raffle. I love to be a part of an organization where working together benefits kids.

wouldn't that water down the coffee?

She should have explained better. She puts the ground coffee inside of the shower head and then cranks the water as hot as it will go. So she's actually taking a shower in coffee!!!!! Talk about a great way to start the day!!!!!!

Loved this! I love unexpectedly hearing anecdotes about relatives. I especially felt that way this past week when I found out about and purchased a book about my hometown and saw so many photos of a precious time in my life.

Thanks for this lovely message!
I love your "hippie" comment...tee hee!
Hope you're having a great weekend- we are chilling on the couch and I couldn't be happier to do so!

Good Morning MMC!!!!!!! It's going to be a windy cool day here in Central Indy with a high near 50. It's going to be a long day here. My youngest niece refused to go to bed last night. It was 1am before she went to bed. Then she was back up at 3 and didn't go back to sleep until 5. Then she got up for good at 7. I see a nap in our future!!! But first, I'm going to put them to work dusting and running the sweeper. I hope everyone has a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope that you got that nap!

Good day to all my wonderful Christmas friends. Hope we all have a lovely weekend. Today is daddy and baby girl day we woke up early watched sprout than made eggs and fresh Bacon from the pig we prossed. Rest day since its a little cool will be playing on the carpet and reading books.

Tomorrow me and wife will be meeting up with a local lady that does daycare from her house. She only watches about 5 to kids and she had an opening. I know this will be hard for harper since she has always stayed with my SIS in law. But my SIS in law is going to be moving a little to far for us to have her go to her house each day. So I can image it will be a tough few days. But since harper might be an only child, it might be best for her to learn to be around more kids.

Love you all enjoy this spring weekend and Christmas will be here soon.

Good luck with the meeting. Hunting for new daycares is always stressful.

Good morning, MMC!

It is a sniffle-ly kind of day here in more ways than one. The sun is trying very hard to come out - good thing as there are new kittens outside! Yay - I love kittens! They are a bright spot in this otherwise extremely dismal week. On tap is more basement pumping - it filled up quite fast last night. It might have slowed down a bit this morning - hope so!

Be MERRY and safe, my dear friends!

Kittens!!! Enjoy them!!! I hope the flooding of your basement isn't too bad.
