Good morning everyone!

Not much new hear. Another busy week! Had a great lunch at the in-laws. They made a nice home made soup. I had 3 bowls! It was very good. Also had garlic bread with garlic butter. My friends are complaining, but I have already started the 2013 Christmas countdown! Hey, if it makes you happy! And it does! Just enjoying a coffee and watching some tv. Going to do some cleaning soon. Have a Merry day everyone!
I love home made soup! I am making buns today since everyone here likes them better than bread.

Good Morning MMC!!! Guess what? It's cold!!! You would think it's winter or something. At least we are still looking at the high 50's by the end of the week. Of course it's also going to be raining but at least it won't be a freezing rain I guess. Not much going on here today. I'm thinking about about calling Comcast to yell at them. My cable went off last night about 11 and didn't come back on until sometime after 1am. So I missed the last hour of Christmas music on Music Choice. I wasn't very happy with them. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I for one am not happy with them at all. Their explanation of why they cannot have an all Christmas channel 24/7 365 days a year was just lame. Something about having to wait until they can expand their channels ?? WHAT ??? yet, they play this techno stuff. Who really listens to that ??

I hope everybody had a great weekend. We celebrated Epiphany or "little" Christmas yesterday with our yearly ritual of a huge pot of my wife's jambalaya. She forgot that we were having family over who do not like spicy foods and she poured a can of tomatoes with green chilies into it along with using spicy italian sausage. Many glasses of water were consumed by all of us. Our parents brought over some more chocolate treats for the kids to put in there lunch boxes. The kids opened their last few presents (we had to hide them at my office all week because they couldn't keep their hands off of them under the tree). Then we had to take the tree down and out to the street since they are picking them up this morning. As I worked on the tree, the Mrs. and the kids went around the house and gathered up all of the dying holly and greenery and took the candles out of the windows. Even with those chores done, we still have about 90% of the decorations still up. This will be a long slow process getting them down. I plan to tackle it for about 30 min. to an hour each night. At that rate, we may be completely done by Sunday. Maybe.

Have a great week.

Good/sad day at work yesterday. As far as everyone I work for and all the customers, always a good day! They really make me happy. We also had a lot more dogs than usual come in with their "parents" and I just love that! They all get hugs and treats from me!

The sad news was a lady brought in her Macaw Parrot that just passed away. She was in a panic and was asking us would we possibly know what could have happen to it. We do sale animal medication and know a little about treating minor animal illness but we are not vets. We have helped her in the past with other animals so she just thought we might be able to figure something out. All we could really do is suggest taking the bird into a vet for a possible autopsy. She said the bird was perfectly healthy yesterday and suddenly passed away in the morning. The sad thing was is how she broke down crying and stroking the bird. I started to cry, I felt so bad for her. I love to work with animals and have thought, in a way, it would be great to work for a vets office. I know for a fact I could never ever handle that! Too many tragedies and I would be a wreck all the time. Those Macaws are like having a child, they have large personalities. I really felt bad for her and did the best to console her. I just hope she finds out what happen to that poor baby. It was such a beautiful bird!

Speaking of people bringing their dogs in, we do have several people bring their birds (on their shoulder), cats, pigs, horses and more with them. Fun place to work. I do better working in a place where mostly healthy animals show up but occasionally someone brings in a very sick animal and it just breaks my heart!

Awww...I would have cried too. I would love seeing all the furkids and featherkids though !! xo

I have gone back and forth on that channel and don't really care for the music either.

My son does listen to some techno stuff but I am not familiar with much of what has been playing on here. My son actually listens to just about every genre out there from techno, disco, rock, rap and more. I love some of the music I hear come out of his room but some is just weird! It must be the techno stuff I hear!

You would be a great employee where I work! You would love it!!!

I cater to and baby all the animals we sell. I am allergic to the bunnies and guinea pigs but they still get love. I hate that I am allergic to them, they are so cute!!!

Sounds like you all had a very nice time!

I use to eat loads of spicy stuff but I just cannot handle it anymore! I would have been one to drinking lots of water too! =)

Good to see you, Brent. I remember walking to school when I was a kid (over a mile) and the temps would be in the single digits. That was back in the day when girls HAD to wear dresses or skirts. Talk about COLD!!! This will be my first week back since October. Not looking forward to it, but c'est la vie!

Good to see you, too, Seawaters! That is just unfair. I hope they've updated the rules sine then. Good luck on your first week back to school. I'm sure your students will be excited!

Speaking of "returning" to school. I have decided to increase my teaching qualifications this winter. Yesterday, I registered for an Intermediate Math Additional Qualification. This will allow me to apply for jobs to teach Math to students in Grade 7-10. It should be fun! I'm really hoping that this helps me find a teaching job somewhere in the area... especially since I'd have three Intermediate (History, English and Math) and two Senior (History and English) as well as a Junior (Grades 4-6) qualification.

Hopefully this will result in at least receiving a callback from an application!

Guinea pigs ARE cute, and the little whistling and warbling sounds they make! I had some when I was in high school. Started with one, bought a companion for her that the pet shop said was female ... they made a mistake one that one. When I discovered a baby piggie one morning, I removed the second 'pig to a separate cage, but I guess he was part rabbit, because the first 'pig later had a second litter---triplets that time. I kept the first baby, but the triplets went to the pet shop for adoption. Dad used to enjoy holding a guinea pig on his lap (on a towel) and feeding it apple. When he was in the mood, he'd say, "Bring me a pig!" The 'pigs learned that apples came from the refrigerator, so whenever they heard the refrigerator door open and close, they'd start whistling because they thought a treat was coming.

Good Monday morning everyone.

Sorry I have been away so long. It has been a stressful few weeks. Both of my parents have spent time in the hospital. Mom spent 3 weeks in the hospital. Both are home now. Dad is doing ok. Mom is terminal. She has good days and bad days. The past few have been good. She insisted on taking care of both their funeral arrangements so we did that last Friday. She keeps fighting and looking ahead.

Thanks to everyone for all your prayers. Have a blessed day everyone.

I have had a few piggies too, even with my allergies. The allergies have gotten a lot worse over the years so I can't have them anymore. I am not sure why they say Guinea Pigs are not smart. I think they are very smart. They do recognize certain sounds and they know when their owner comes home and as you said, they knew the sound of the refrigerator. I love the way they whistle for things. The ones at work have certain whistles for treats. They will keep it up until I give them one. It's not like they live at our pet shop that long so they learn that real quick!

The babies are super adorable! Full of fur, eyes opened and you are allowed to handle them immediately!!!

I love hearing about your dad spending time with your Guinea Pigs!

Oh no! Sorry you had those experiences with your hamsters. Everyone I had were just as sweet as can be! The last one I had was a few years ago. His name was Cowboy and he would come to me when I called his name. I have never been bit by a hamster. He was sweet and would let me hold him without any problems. They will nibble your fingers if you have the scent of food on your hands. I just sold a hamster yesterday and made sure to let them all know to wash their hands before handling or they will nibble at the smell of food which can result in a bite if you smell good enough! :D

Hi friends,
Just wanted to say a quick, Christmassy hello :)

Unpacking & running errands today. Also having my car looked at.

Seawaters, thinking of you today. Good luck! Xo

Mgramsey, thoughts & prayers going out to you. God bless you & your family.

Xmas, good luck on your final interview! Go with your gut, and follow your heart , you'll make the right decision.

I kept a Christmas corner in my bedroom, where I left out my Mr. Christmas clock w/ the ballroom dancers, and my Mr. Christmas Grammophone. I decided they must stay out year round ;)

Thinking of you all & sending hugs.

XO

Stacey

Sorry to hear about the macaw, we hand rear birds and keep all kinds, and i can tell you that i have seen the healthest bird fall of the perch, was it doing anything different not that i ever leaned it in my vet nurse training as lots of vets no very little about parrots, i had to talke a course to rear birds wondering did she notice any thing difference in its droppings there is ways of telling from that, as well maybe it eat something it should not have. its a hard one as a bird will hide its sickness , its comes from the wild thing in them (other animals wood pick on a sick bird in the wild) so its so hard to tell, like they do take heart attacks and they take a few bad diseases to which unless you know the signs they are hard to heal, as well it could have had a calicum def birds can not hold it long and given done can result in probelms again,
