My service award finally arrived!

Our company offers pretty nice years-of-service awards on an escalating scale after more years with the company. This is my 25th year here (I was such young man when I started here!), and there were pages of items to choose from on the gift center website.

I finally turned down the 42" LED TV, the Samsung surround sound blue-ray system, and all the other cool gadgets and settled on a Canon DSLR camera with a wireless photo printer.

It's very cool...but I'm not sure how to work it. Back to school! cheesy

That is awesome!!!!! ENJOY!!!

I hope I didn't put too much hype into my "new family addition" story but it has been an emotional roller coaster for me!

Early last week this young dog had been coming up to my house and she is just as sweet as can be. She has been hanging out with us and plays so well with my grandchildren. I was not sure who she belonged to, a lot of people around here let their dogs run loose, it really frightens me because I fear they will get hurt. On Friday I saw this boy talking to her and I asked if it was his, he said yes then I asked did they need to find it a home. He said no they plan to keep her. I was concerned that she might get hit by a car because I have seen her laying in the road relaxing! I said if they are keeping her they might consider keeping her indoors or in their backyard so she don't get hit. After that conversation he did not take her home and she ran the streets all weekend long and running in front of cars. I have been in sheer panic because I have already got attached to her. I know I have only known her for a week but she has come to visit everyday and seems so happy being at my house and yes, I got attached quickly! I came home from work yesterday and saw her running in the streets again. I picked her up and walked over to the house where she lives to speak with an adult and asked if it was their dog, they said, "Yes, do you want her"? Oh heck yeah!!! I didn't have to ask to keep her, he offered her to me! I told him I will take good care of her and take her to the vet for check up, get her fixed and more. I had to confirm she lived there by talking to an adult because I thought maybe the boy just said it was his and it really wasn't. So she has been rescued from the streets! This is her first experience living inside a home. She crawled up in bed with us last night and slept with us. Sleeping in the streets to now sleeping in a nice comfy bed getting lots of cuddles!

I am about to set up a vet visit and get her all taken care of.

I will try and get a picture posted soon!

Christmasstar, The name Penny (just like your kitty) has stuck with me because of the song, Penny Lane. It's a possibility but still not 100% sure yet. I am like you and will probably give it a few more days before deciding.

Seawaters, I have a list of names that the family have come up with. My granddaughter also suggested, Phone Dog. Ha ha!!!

Busy busy, I will try to get back on here in a little bit and catch up!

Great story!! Very heartwarming, thank you for being such a good person & saving this dog!!

We are watching kid´s tv...German kid´s channel Super RTL has Duckburg day today....Duckburg is the city where Donald et all are living......so all day Donald, Goofy, Duck Tales and all.....usually she is not allowed to watch TV all day....but she loves Mickey, Donald and all so much.....that is what we were doing most of the time....besides buying Ice Cream....spending a little time with my moms and then getting some dinner from Burger King :D

I hear ya! I never thought I would be this way, but I just retired January 31 from teaching. It is VERY EASY to get used to it!

I love, love, love cooking on the grill!!! You sound like my parents "Oh, is it a holiday weekend coming up?" Lol! They never know!! I think the only way Dad knows what day of the week it is, is through sports schedules. Ha ha! Mom goes to the Y Mon, Wed, Fri so that helps her! ;)

Awe! That is such a sad & sweet story!! Good for you being her savior!!

Wow, Bradmac. That is awesome! Congratulations again! Have fun learning!

hey Sheila......how about Jude.....cos of the Beatles song Hey Jude.........or Linda......for Paul´s beloved wife that passed away.....or Ringo......it is a cool name....or how about "Beatle".....simple and cute

I am very anxious to catch up on here but we have a new family member that I am very busy with. We got a young dog and I cannot wait to share the story with you on how we rescued it. We are trying to come up with a name and my granddaughter said, "How about Mr's Claus"?! Very tempting but still thinking it over since we have a few names to consider. I just had to share that with you real quick. I just love how Christmas is always on the mind of a 3 1/2 year old!

I am so glad you were able to rescue a new furkid. If you want name her something Christmassy you could always name her Noelle.

Roland T. Flakfizer.

(This is a very funny movie, by the way! Recommended!)

I think I saw that movie, was that suppose to be a "Marx Brothers" type of movie. I remember seeing a movie with John Turturro during my big Marx Brothers kick back in the 90's. It was pretty good.

Prayers please. There is a tornado on the ground a mile wide right now...about three miles from where my babies are! My in-laws have the kids and they are underground, but I'm stuck at work 20 miles north of them. My wife, and the school she teaches at, are on lockdown taking storm precautions...and I know all those kids are scared.

Thanks for the prayers guys.

You're in my thoughts!!!

Lots of honeysuckle around here, but I have to go to the mountains to find fireflies anymore.
We will have lots of lightning bugs in a couple of weeks. It is a little early for them.
