I always loved doing stuff with my kids, yes it never looked perfect, the rows were crooked, flowers trampled but it was always the most beautiful garden I ever saw!

My kids were raised by just me and my daughter made me cry the other day when she said "mom, we had so much fun growing up!" This from a kid who never got new clothes or a chance to take those ballet lessons she wanted, who often only had biscuits and jam to eat.

So keep doing those little things with your kids, that is what they will remember when they grow up.

What a lovely thing to hear!!

Just shows what a wonderful Mom that you are =]

Good Morning and Happy Pines Day! I 've not been to the Pines yet so perhaps I'll pop on by today. Keep an eye out for me! :)

First of all , I have been thinking of all of you experiencing severe weather. Stay safe you guys.

It is still grey , damp and dull here but compared to what some of you are experiencing, I am not complaining!

Baby Isaac and I are going to try and tidy up the garden today.....which usually means I've got a toddler covered in leaves and dirt by the end of it LOL.

Ok , well have a good day everyone !!!!

Sounds like a fun day with Isaac!!

Good Wednesday morning, my Christmas friends!

Nancy and I have spent the last three evenings till midnight trying to get a birthday present made for my mom. We're throwing her a secret 70th birthday bash (shhh!) with about 100 friends and family coming. It's a Smoky Mountain-themed party, since she and I love it so much. Nancy's mom is a retired caterer, and is designing and creating a mountain-shaped cake, Cake Boss style! It'll be a wonder if we can all keep the secret for two more weeks.

Anyway, besides the party, we've decided to do one of those hardback photobooks that Shutterfly makes. We've upload 200 pictures to Shutterfly of our trips to the mountains with her, and arranged them in the book. I have to say, it's a great present idea! You guys should check it out: http://www.shutterfly.com/photo-books

I have another birthday party to go to for my niece this evening. It should give me a chance to get some practical experience with my new camera!

I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

What a beautiful thing to do!! She will be so touched =]

Thank you for all the hugs and good thoughts, my friends. Don't worry, it's not health-related or anything like that. I just got an unhappy surprise yesterday regarding a legal matter that threw me into a funk. I didn't sleep well after that, and I'm having a hard time shaking off the blues. But the good news is that the matter will soon be concluded, over, and done with for good. Time for me to put it away and look ahead to the long weekend and our upcoming vacation.

You're all the sweetest people I know after my Mr.
You're the best.

I should have consulted with you, too! Right now, I'm trying to find a small plastic log cabin to put on top. If I can't find one, I'll get Elizabeth to make one out of pretzel logs or something.

Hello Christmas friends! Hope y'all have a great Wednesday. It's been a long week, so I hope Carl is making something good tonight at the Pines!
Things are still emotional, but the sun is out today and the weather is nice, and I believe something that simple is helping everyone around town. As a teacher, my wife is still having a hard time with what happened at the schools that were hit, and at her own school. Tomorrow will be emotional as they allow the kids back in the schools (those that weren't directly hit) to say goodbye to their friends and collect personal belongings and see their teachers.

Well, y'all have a good day!

If there's anything I've missed in the posts I am sorry and hope everything is going good for you all!

Having grown up in a similar situation, it really is about the time spent together not the money that you have and I'm sure that you were a great mom!!!!!

Wow! We would get in trouble if we didn't talk to our customers long enough! I guess that is why we get to know a lot of our customers on first name basis and even allowed some personal chit chat and a little cutting up. Maybe that is why they come in so often and love shopping there. I am glad that I get to talk with my customers! That is really sad about your brother-in-law's job.

God forbid we develop a bond with our customers, all management cares about is money, the customers are just a hassle to them now. Go figure, they are the ones who buy stuff, but we can't help them like the customer wants. This is one of the many reasons why I am trying to get out of there.

they can get over it, it will take time and gentle encouragement and lots of talking maybe even some counseling, but it can be overcome. You will have to keep reminding them that what happened was scary and bad, but that was then and is in the past. Help them see the beauty that can come with storms, lightening patterns, cloud shapes, noises. etc. Start teaching them about these things and hlep them understand it all. You love them so much and you will all get over this.
Praying for you and your family
keep up the good parenting!

We are trying to teach them, they have seen weather documentaries about tornadoes, and lightning, and like them. It is just when it happens here they get very scared which I understand.

My sisters make one of my niece's and nephew every year and give to mom as part of her christmas. It's kind of like a yearbook of everything that happened that year.
