Road trip!

Ryan & all Halloween lovers, they also had some cute little Halloween villages at JoAnn's. Much more whimsical than Spooky Town, really fun!

May go back for one or two..

Xmas, I stopped by JoAnn Fabrics today, and saw these Halloween trees. Not sure what your wife was looking for, but thought that they were cute!

They also have little cute & spooky ornaments to decorate it with. They were 40% off.

I love all of it!!!!!

I was at Hallmark the other day, and picked up a Keepsake ornament that I have been wanting for over a year now. It's a 2012, called A Carol By Candlelight. It's of an old country church, and lights up & plays Silent Night. It sounds like it is being played by one of those old-fashioned church organs. Love it. And I got it for 75% off during a sidewalk sale, sweet!

Took a pic of it, and managed to get sleeping beauty, too =)

Hope she gets well soon, there seems to be a lot of flu bugs flying around here at the moment, it's too early for them that's what January & Feb are for!!

Good afternoon everyone!

I hope your weekend has went well thus far. I failed to mention something about yesterday... It was my grandmother's 99th birthday! That's right. My wonderful grandmother turned 99. One year away from reaching the century mark. It's hard to fathom all the change that she has experienced since she was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1914. Of course, I'm more than glad that she is still with us. To be honest, it was real difficult not being there for such an important day. She lives in Sault Ste. Marie with the rest of my family... but I think I will have to head back for her 100th birthday next year.

99 years. What an accomplishment. In commemoration, here's a photo of my grandmother 28 years ago at my camp (cottage). She must have been 71. I was a mere few months old and my brother was 4! I'm so lucky to still have her around.

Wonderful, I'm very happy that you are able to have your loving grandmother around, what a blessing for sure!
Mine passed away when I was at the age of 15, the day after new years, which was the day I was released from the hospital after having my appendix, and some intestine removed. The doctor refused to allow me to travel, back in the sixties surgery was not as it is now.
I was devastated by the huge loss of my Grandmother's love, and not being able to say goodbye. But the Gracious Lord meant it for good, that I only remember her as being alive, and NOT viewing her at the funeral.
So count every day a blessing for the Love of your Grandmother, and be there for her 100th!

Bless her heart, I hope she feels better soon. Jacob has a bad cold, but he's been wanting to go to school, anyway. Now that I think about it, that's pretty weird. :-D

If you saw it, I'm sure you liked it! It's about a murder at a public aquarium. An old-maid schoolteacher who was there with her pupils when the body is discovered sets out to solve the murder. Followed by "Murder on the Blackboard" (a schoolteacher is murdered) and "Murder on a Honeymoon" (a murder takes place on the way to Catalina Island---much of the film was shot on location there, and many of the locations still exist).

How interesting! It would be a nice place to visit!

You might find the books by Stuart Palmer, but you probably won't find the DVDs at the library. They've just been released on DVD by Warner Archive, so they've never been released in stores (well, there was a laserdisc of "The Penguin Pool Murder" years ago). TMC shows them on cable now and then.

Here's a list of the books (from Wikipedia)---many of them are in print:

  • The Penguin Pool Murder (1931)
  • Murder on Wheels (1932)
  • Murder on the Blackboard (1932)
  • The Puzzle of the Pepper Tree (1933)
  • The Puzzle of the Silver Persian (1934)
  • The Puzzle of the Red Stallion (1935) [also known as "The Puzzle of the Briar Pipe"]
  • The Puzzle of the Blue Banderilla (1937)
  • The Puzzle of the Happy Hooligan (1941)
  • The Riddles of Hildegarde Withers (1947), an anthology of short stories
  • Miss Withers Regrets (1947)
  • Four Lost Ladies (1949)
  • The Green Ace (1950) [also known as "At One Fell Swoop"]
  • The Monkey Murder and other Tales (1950), and anthology of short stories
  • Nipped in the Bud (1951) [also known as "Trap for a Redhead"]
  • Cold Poison (1954) [also known as "Exit Laughing"]
  • The People Vs. Withers and Malone (1963), written with Craig Rice
  • Hildegarde Withers Makes the Scene (1969), completed by Fletcher Flora after Palmer's death
  • Hildegarde Withers: Uncollected Riddles (2002), an anthology of short stories

My day's going a little better than yesterday, although not as well as I'd like. But I'll take it!

Thank you for the list, Merry! I'm glad your day is going better and hope it continues to do so!! {{{HUGS}}}
