Christmas Countdown - 2013

I am loving this time of year too...as always!! Once I get over the "I don't want summer to end" mode! :lol:

That's how I feel this time of year. I hate to see summer end, but once I'm resigned to it, I jump into holiday prep.

Oh my! Emotions are hitting our house hard tonight! One second my wife thinks she's Batman, then she's acting like the crazy lady in Fatal Attraction, then she's crying because I didn't hang up MY dress pants right (they should have been folder another way)....

Whew....I would stay and chat....but I think I'm going to hide in the closet...if you see her coming towards you....be very quiet.....

Man, I hope Little Bambina gets here soon....

Yesterday we heard shocking news! A cousin of my grandmother (on my fathers side) comited extended suicide with his wife this monday. They were around the age of my grandparents. There were no signs prior that something was wrong, both were attending a class reunion on saturday, they had been in church on sunday and seemed like always. Both were still very healthy and had a nice house (without debts). The cousin was a hunter therefore he had a gun (gun laws in my country are very strict). I only meet them on bigger family reunions and didn't know them very well but I'm still at loss for words and just shocked. Don't know why they would do something like that in their age.

So sorry to hear this. Something like this always raises questions that can't be answered, and it is very hard. Prayers for your family.

Hoping Friday will whiz by so we can start our weekends!

Still no overhead lights at the office. They had put up some huge industrial work lights that buzzed threateningly when they were turned on and burned spots in your eyes---nobody liked to use them, but we've had a few late nights recently. Today when I came in they've put up a string of smaller work lights on either side of the room, each bulb in a bright yellow plastic cage---rather cheerful-looking, actually, almost festive, like lights strung for an outdoor party. If the cages were red and green, it would look almost Christmassy.

I spent part of yesterday evening moving some stuff into the small cabinet we got from my MIL. I stuffed it with Christmas DVDs, books, and other items and moved other things onto the shelves they vacated. (And filled a trash bag with outdated, unused stuff and filled a box for the Salvation Army.) It turned into a bigger job that I thought it would be, but I got to cross it off my to-do list, and got a load of laundry done at the same time.

Howdy folks!

It's finally here! A cool down, FINALLY! It's rainy and the high will be in the upper 70's possibly right at 80 degrees! I am one happy person! Sure, I would like it just a tad bit cooler but I will take this! The highs will be in the 80's up until Monday then get back up in the 90's again. :dance:

Maybe, just maybe, I will get more of my fall decorations out. I just have not been in the mood with all this heat we are dealing with.

My granddaughter has been asking every day to get the Christmas Tree out. I just might get a table top Christmas Tree out for her if she ask again. Why not? What's the harm? No harm at all! She wants Christmas, she will get Christmas. I do have some orange lights so we just might do a Halloween Tree.

Coach, hang in there. It won't be too much longer!!! cheesy

He slept good last night! I didn't hear him stirring until 4:35 am!! That was great!! I put him outside & let him back in when I went to walk, he ate & he was sleeping again when I got home @ 6:40! Yay!! Thanks!

Well i hope u feel good real soon, your trick or treat sounds real fun, this year I joined this little thing at work called a boo and its basically like a secret but for Halloween theres a 20 dollar limit and you buy Halloween themed gifts to exchange I can`t hardly wait!

How fun!! We do a "boo" sometimes in our neighborhood. Where you put candy by their door, hang a "boo" note, ring the bell & run! Fun stuff! ENJOY!

One of my cats gets a steroid shot for allergies every once in a while, it always works well for her.
Holiday, are you sure there aren't any fleas on Buster? Maggie had a really restless night not too long ago where she couldn't sleep and was itching and biting. It ended up being that we were having a problem with Frontline. It wasn't working for them anymore. I was told that certain fleas have become resistant to one of the active ingredients in it. We switched medications a couple of months ago and there doesn't seem to be a problem anymore. Just wanted to throw that out there, continued prayers for Buster!

Thanks HMG! I didn't see any fleas, but I had not heard about Frontline not working. That is what we have always used. I will check him again - but he does seem much better now, so hopefully it was just the bath irritated his allergies?!

Its morning again, raining and humid. I hope the humidity leaves before tonight as I have a cake to decorate and we already took the AC out.

My friend emailed me this morning about having 100 cupcakes to decorate so she knew it was going to be humid - she said it ALWAYS is when she has a big project! Ha ha! Good luck! Hope the humidity leaves you soon!

THANK YOU all for the prayers and support! It means alot to me We will hopefully know by the end of today where things stand with DH's new role. Praying for good news. DH got home safely in the car thank goodness. However instead of taking it to the mechanic he has decided that he is going to fix it himself (WHAT?)! Men!! So I guess that's our plans for the weekend.....

There are christmas and Halloween things in all the shops now. It is graudually building up more and more each time I pop in. I had to take a moment to digest it all this morning. I really can't believe we have gotten to this time of year!!!!!

Good morning everyone!

After a weekend full of apartment visits, Kim and I are still empty-handed. The one we REALLY liked had a few downfalls that Kim couldn't part with. For instance, she really wants a cat. It said no pets. The parking situation wasn't ideal and there was no laundry onsite. OK, the laundry was the biggest downfall for me, too. Although I also wouldn't mind a cat... So, we're still looking! Hopefully a few more will pop up this month. I really want to be out of here for November...!

As for today, we have no showings scheduled, but we're hoping to make our way down to Walmart and (the new) Target. Kim wants to check out a few things and I really want to sneak into the "seasonal" section to see if anything interesting is on display! I hope I'll have some more pictures to contribute to the soon-to-debut Blossoms thread!

Well, I have a few things that need to be done before Kim wakes up. Hopefully it is soon. She does have to work this afternoon.

Hugs for poor Buster, and for you, too, taking care of him and cleaning up after him! It could have been the off-brand dog food ... some dogs' stomachs are very sensitive to any change.

It is going to be sunny and much warmer today. The temperatures will gradually cool off again over the weekend.
Today I am going to the butcher and then Whole Foods to pick up a few gluten free items. I will do the rest of my food shopping tomorrow. Not too much else planned for today but I'm sure I will keep busy, I always do.
Hoping my husband will get to the car dealer to finalize the deal on my daughters car. I would love to get the car for her this weekend. I am starting the babysitting job next week and it will be a huge help if my daughter is able to drive herself in to school in the morning.

Happy Friday Eve MMC!!! Not much going on today! I'm patiently waiting for noon so I can call it a week & let the weekend begin. YAY! Then it's home to icing cookies for tomorrow.

This morning I didn't have any walking buddies! I looked at the weather forcast which told me rain all afternoon so I figured if I wanted to get a walk in today, I better get my hiney out of bed! So I did! Now they are saying no rain until 4pm, but I'm glad I got it done anyway!

Tonight we are going to the lake for chicken dinners (our neighbor is cooking 100 chickens for a benefit & he will be bringing them back to the marina with him) - we aren't spending the night there though b/c we are leaving at 6:45 am for a golf outing in memory of my uncle. (I really stink at golf but I will do it this one time per year! :lol Those are our only plans for the weekend! What is everybody else up too?

Little jobs always somehow end up being bigger in the end! Atleast you can cross it of your list and a head start to laundry is always good. Hope you are not caught up late at the office and can start your weekend soon!

They MAY still be there after Thanksgiving, the way things are going! I have a segment of brick wall next to my desk. I'm planning to get some brick clips (clips that grasp the brick and provide a hook for hanging things) and hang a lighted wreath there. It's battery-operated and has a timer---8 hours on, 16 hours off---perfect! And I always bring in a lighted desktop tree.
