Oh - I talked to my Mom last night. She said Dad got a brace for his back. She said it will take some getting use too, but hopefully it will help. He also got some pain pills. If the brace doesn't do the trick, there is a procedure they can do (and I can't remember the name of it, but I've heard of it before) where they put something like cement between the disks. So I'll keep hoping & praying the brace helps & he can avoid having any kind of procedure. It's generally a quick, easy procedure, but nothing is easy for Dad being on coumadin, etc! And being 85 years old doesn't help speed healing either! The best news is he can still mow lawn in the brace! THANK YOU LORD! :lol:

I started WW in 2009 & lost 35 lbs! After my brother died I gained some of it back & now I'm trying to get rid of it!!! The original 35 I lost - no problem!! I don't know if it's so hard to get rid of this time b/c - they say it's harder to lose weight the 2nd time around - OR b/c I am now over 40 - OR a combination of the two! Lol! But I'll get it figured out!! (I HOPE!) :-D I had a 10 lb goal set & I wasn't reaching it, so now I have lowered it to 5 lb - and once I hit that, I'll go for the next 5!! Hopefully it will be easier once the lake is closed for the season & I'm not constantly around all that yummy food! Good luck!!!

I know what you mean about the yummy food. I have a hard time resisting the meals that I cook for my family. Its definitely difficult when you are around it all of the time.
Maybe I'll set a 5 pound goal too, I like that idea!

Good morning!
Just walked the dogs and it is a beautiful morning with temperatures in the mid 50's. It will be sunny and breezy today with a high of 66 degrees.
Things have been so hectic around here. I have given notice to Yankee Candle that I will be leaving them. It isn't working out for me for a couple of reasons. I'm sad to leave because I love the store but I will be stepping right in to another job. At a Hallmark store!!! This will be a much better fit for me. It is less than 5 minutes from my home and they are willing to accommodate my availability. And Hallmark carries Yankee Candles, so that's a plus! I start October 31st.
Typical day for me, errands and chores. I want to go to the butcher today but first I need to write a menu plan and grocery list for next week. I'll do the rest of my food shopping tomorrow.
I am also starting a diet today. I got on the scale this morning and I really want to lose at least 10 pounds. Well maybe a little more but I will start with a 10 pound goal. I swapped my coffee and creamer for green tea and I had oatmeal instead of the usual bagel and cream cheese. I'm really going to try and be good. It's not easy!!!

I like your optimism when it comes to you changing your job. You know what works the best for you and I'm glad about it. :] When it comes to your diet, it's a very good choice if loosing some weight makes you feel better. And yes, diets are always difficult but it is said that change is hard at the beginning, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end. So stay strong! You can do it! ;]

I have attended the student and staff committee meeting earlier today and I am very glad that they finally announced the date of Christmas concert which is 14th December. I am also happy that students will be able to participate in the concert as well as volunteer to help organizing the whole event. It is one more reason to look forward to December! I enjoyed the concert last year very much, and I was glad that I participated in it too, so I can't wait to be involved in the event this year as well. ^^

You could dress as Anne of Green Gables for Halloween ... she tried to dye her red hair "a raven black," and it turned green.

Good morning everyone!

I had a busy day of editing yesterday. So busy that I wasn't able to stop-in for 'Pines Day. Sorry I missed all the festivities. It's yet another dreary day in Ottawa. Temperatures are to reach the mid teens with maybe a (very) little amount of sun. It seems about on-par with this time of the year.

As per usual, there isn't a whole lot new here. I have been a little stressed-out about my job(s), but I think that topic is for another time. I may ask everyone on here for some advice quite shortly. It will come with another post. Perhaps even its own thread. We shall see.

I have a few things at work on the go. The work can be a little boring, but at least I have some podcasts to keep me company. Speaking of which, I am about to turn on the latest Merry Podcast. I suspect that it will make the time between now and lunch fly by! Tonight, I have hockey. It will be our first game in a week, so it should be great to get on the ice once again. After starting slow, we seem to have been coming around and playing well. Hopefully we can keep it up tonight!

Well, I hope everyone has a great Thursday. The weekend is nearly here. The countdown is into the 60s. Plenty to look forward to!

Lulu is no longer choking, but I think all of the medicine she was given is making her feel bad. She didn't eat all day yesterday, except for a chicken finger that I pulled apart and gave her piece by piece. I'm about to go home and check on her.
