What a nice peaceful night around here. We (vicki and I) were planning to watch movies tonight and she was downstairs with me for a bit and then I couldn't find her. I went upstairs and there she was, all curled up in her bed sound asleep...She was telling me on our way home today that she was exhausted from all the tests, studying and essays that she has had to do over the past couple of weeks, getting very little sleep. She said she was glad to come home and rest in her own bed....

I tucked her in, kissed her forehead, pulled the blinds closed and shut her door, just like I used to when she was still a little girl (made me feel good)!

So, I,m sitting here listening to Kringle Radio, writing some checks and getting ready to go downstairs and watch the kick-off of Battlestar Galacatica at 9 pm on the BBC channel!

It's me, the TV and some Hickory Farms smoked gouda cheese tonight~

That is so sweet

You're such a wonderful Dad!!

Enjoy your night, friend!!

So as we prepare to celebrate this Christmas season, I want to take this chance to thank all of you for the things you do. Not just here in the countdown but also the things that happen behind the scenes that no one will ever know about. Thank you for the kind and caring messages. Thank you for the prayers and get well messages. Thank you for the support in the good times and the bad. Thank you for your selfless acts and for the surprises. It is all of you that make this site so special and I'm honored to call you all my friends.

"The joy of brightening other lives, bearing each others' burdens, easing other's loads and supplanting empty hearts and lives with generous gifts becomes for us the magic of Christmas."- W. C. Jones

Bro, the pleasure has been all ours! I'm glad we found "here" together and I'm glad we come "here" together. Your name is a regular around our house....I usually read Wifey your posts and/or she usually asks how you are doing. While it might be weird that strangers are family....it's our weird....and I love it.

Words can't begin to express how much I value you.

Goodnight & sleep well, friends!!

Thanks, Friend!!!! When I say Coach, my whole family knows who I am talking about and I very much consider you a part of the family.

It is snowing again, nice big lazy flakes. What a perfect way to start off the special posts series!

I can't wait for some snow here. Happy MMC anniversary, sorry I am a day late!

TGIF my Christmas friends!!

I hope everyone had a great week.I had a busy week with work and today I am headed to my youngest daughter's school for their Veterans Day Celebration...her class is singing a song.

Then tonight we are going to get a kitten..I have never owned a cat before but my kids have been begging and begging so my hubby and I agreed.

We wrote out Thanksgiving menu last night..I just love this time of year!! I just put on my Christmas music..

Hope everyone has a great weekend...I really do enjoy this site..such nice people!

Congratulations on your new kitten! You all will have so much fun. Have a good weekend!

Such a beautiful day here; sunny, windy, and 49 degrees. The leaves are falling and there's talk of Thanksgiving in the office. My sister and I were discussing this year's menu (another reason why it's fun to work in the same office as your sister!), and now I'm really hungry! Wouldn't mind some yummy turkey and dressing right now. I guess I'll go home at 2, and finish putting away my mountain of Halloween stuff. Then, I'm seriously considering putting the lights in the windows, just to save time later. Wow! We have cable now, too....how blessed is that? I can hear the Christmas MC channel while I put my lights up! Yay!

It's always a little bittersweet taking down the Halloween stuff isn't it. It came and went so fast but on the other hand it means thanksgiving and Christmas is around the corner.

Good afternoon!
The time is flying by today. I have been cleaning the house and doing laundry all morning. I need to get out of here and run some errands. Just having a quick cup of coffee first. I need to run to Target for an iron. My iron just randomly stopped working this morning. I haven't had it for that long. My mother has had the same iron for 40 years. Go figure. I also need to go to the butcher. And I may take a ride to the mall with my youngest when she gets home from school. She's going to show me a pair of boots that she wants for Christmas. I really haven't been doing much Christmas shopping, I have to stop dragging my feet and get started!
I hope everyone is well and is having a great day!!!

I know , me to, I need to start shopping especially as Mr. Festive 's Birthday first week of December ! Hope you had a good night!

Hey, It's Friday evening....Let the weekend commence!!!
I just got in from picking Victoria up from school and then I went up to pick up my pickup truck from the mechanic. I was driving home last week and I lost my breaks at an intersection (brake line burst) . Luckily, I was able to downshift and use the emergency brake to stop the truck. I drove another three miles that way and coasted it into the shop without hitting any traffic lights along the way (someone was looking out for me)!

The mechanic said that they had to replace the entire brake line from the master cylinder to the rear of the truck (rotted), replace both wheel cylinders and the rear brake hoses. After everything was said and done, it cost me around $450.00 dollars. I don't know, I guess that was ok with labor and all, at least I got the truck back and I have brakes now!

I guess tonight may be a movie night tonight for me and vicki, since the wife and son are working tonight....

Sorry about the truck, hope you enjoyed your night.

45 days guys, woho!

Good night

....and only less than a week till the official start of the season!

good morning everyone...anyone started decorating yet
Morning Frosty! I have not started yet. I am hoping to pull down the decorations the weekend of the 17th and go through what I've got and check lights are working etc and make a plan of action basically LOL! Then I will start putting things up gradually through out that week or following weekend with the tree going up on the 30th. I decided to start a little earlier this year!

What about you?

Good Morning, Saturday Super Stars Seeking Special Post Selections.

The Series continues.

The remaining schedule:
Day 4 before the Season......(Today) = Binger
Day 3 before the Season......(Nov. 10) = Christmasstar
Day 2 before the Season......(Nov. 11) = Ballcoach
Day 1 before the Season......(Nov. 12) = Xmas 365

Onward and downward we go with our count (which is rapidly dwindling down into a bedpost):
Days to the Season: 4 (Barely over HALF A WEEK remains!!)
Days to Thanksgiving: 19 (Into the 'teens -- Wow!)
Days to Christmas Day: 46 (Barely over 6 1/2 weeks left!)
(Time's just getting away from us, Folks.)

Chilly weather, soon to be cold.
We have started today at a chattery 34 degrees here in the capital city.

Have a Sensational Saturday, Everyone!

Good morning!
It is going to be cloudy today with temperatures in the upper 40's.
I am going to start cooking breakfast soon, the girls all have morning shifts today. They aren't happy about waking up so early but they will be happy later when they don't have to go in to work on a Saturday night. One of my daughters got her schedule for black Friday and she will be working a 12 hour shift. I am so aggravated. I think its too much for these kids and these stores are ruining Thanksgiving for their employees. My other two are still waiting for their schedules.
Anyway, not too much planned for me. Errands, chores and food shopping today. I may run to a local gift store here in town. The store is set up in a cute little two story home, every room is filled to the brim with gifts. At this time of the year they change their merchandise over to all holiday items. There are so many beautiful Christmas items, I look forward to it every year.
I hope everyone has a great day!!!

To everything there is a season
And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time to be born
A time to die

To everything there is a season
A time to laugh
A time to weep

To everything there is a season
Unspeakable joy at the arrival of Coach's daughter

To everything there is a season
Unbearable grief at the loss of our Louann

To everything there is a season
We join year long.... strangers in a world surely gone mad as we celebrate a time of peace and not war

Because this is our Season

And so it has come to this..

Four days until the season...

It is hard for people to object because jobs are hard to come by and there is always the fear of loosing that job if you object to working on a holiday.
They give these shifts to the younger crowd because most of them do not mind working it while those who have children would insist on being home to celebrate with them. It is the same at Christmas and new years, the teens and young adults get the Christmas shifts because they have no children to be with and they are given new years off so they can go and party.
As a former boss of mine said once, it is so hard because no matter what you do someone will not be happy about it.
I agree though that there are holidays that retailers need to respect and just stay closed and give everyone a collective break!

Have fun with the shopping, sounds like a really great place (get some pictures if you can!)
