In reference to my above post..ice and snow and the weather have always interested me...My beloved grandmother(my dads mom) the one that I was referring to in the post a few pages back, the one that was like my 2nd mother....she was born in 1912 and she was raised on a very large horse farm in extreme western Kentucky looking on the map it was almost on the Indiana state line. Anyhow she moved to south Georgia after she graduated college and started teaching 2nd grade. Anyways my dad decided to stay in Ga where he was raised so that is why I never had a lot of winter weather to speak of. I can remember my Granny telling me as a little girl she could remember the small ponds they had on the farm freezing over and all the kids in town would come over to ice skate in the winters. Now that was in the 1920 I guess! Well those ponds I am sure never freeze over anymore I would venture to guess...I don't know if you wanna call it global warming but the weather patterns are changing no doubt about it..I just find it so neat about things like that. I am sure in the northern states the ponds do freeze up but Kentucky? Sorry for rambling on and on about nerdy stuff:)

Well I better get up and get ready for work. I have to go fetch Brandi and kids at the airport after work and I am so glad they are returning! My in laws are coming here on the 28th through Jan 2. So maybe Brandi won't be all upset and sad when she gets back here because that is just around the corner. It is 6F with highs suppose to get about 28F with a few light snow showers this afternoon! Have a great early morning everyone! and TGIF! oh and it's the 13th too! Ick!

Love hearing your stories about your grandmother! Hoping you enjoy the evening with Brandi and the boys.

so much chatter so little time!
I have a full day again today, 3 cakes to do, work for 5 hours (the kind I get paid for that is) clean 2 inches of snow off the van, take daughter shopping, pick up other daughter after work, make stuff for tomorrows potluck, finish cookie plates to hand out to family, and talk to my friends

So, hope you all have a great day!

You did have a very busy day! Hope you had a little time to relax!

Good afternoon!
We are without electricity, and have been that for almost 24hours!!!
And It's 28f outside!
We had a storm here yesterday.
And we don't know when the power is up again

Well hope YOU have a much better day! ❤

I hope you guys are staying warm and safe, Solice.

Good Morning MMC!!!!!!! It's going to be a little bit warmer today with a high near 32. Hopefully it gets warmer than that. We haven't been above freezing in over a week. We are supposed to get another 3 to 6 inches of snow overnight and they are saying that it's going to be a heavy snow. Yuck!!! That's not what I need. I have way to much to do tomorrow and one of those things includes an hour drive each way to go with my sister and niece's on a polar express train ride. So I really don't need the roads to be bad. Thankfully there's not much on my agenda for today. I just need to do some things around the apartment and then run to the grocery. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!

Hoping you guys are still able to go on the train ride. I know how much it means to the girls and you, of course!

Thanks Made! Hope you're able to get everything done with no problems on the roads. Bud, my husband, is leaving Fairfax, VA this evening to make Floyd, VA to avoid the storm being predicted for Saturday. Wasn't supposed to leave till Sunday but that Florida-boy haaaates driving on the ice. Snow he doesn't mind at all. The ice they're predicting with the freezing rain... forget it.

Hope he has safe travels and avoids the snow!

Five dozen chocolate chip cookies and an undetermined number of sugar cookies later, I'm about to drop. Christmasstar, and you other regular bakers, how do you do it? Cookies are hard work!

Well it's lunch time. I have a slight headache and am tired and just ready to go home. Brandi should be about to board the plane in Boston ready for the 3.5 hour flight to SLC. I am leaving right at 3 to go get her then our weekend should be underway! I am not sure of anything we have planned but I would like to get to the slopes one day and get some runs in!! Well I hope everyone is having a good Friday the 13th! I will talk to you all when I get home later tonight!

Ooooooh it IS Friday the 13th isn't it? ROFL Well then that explains everything. ;-) I'm kidding.

Some things I believe in like Santa and his reindeer. The bad juju on Friday the 13th... LOL No not so much. LOL

Hope her flight is good and you have a great weekend!! :-)

Just checked the updated forecast for around here. 6 to 10 inches of snow expected Saturday evening into Sunday morning. So it'll look very Christmassy around here soon. There's still a little snow on the ground from earlier this week, and it was nice while making cookies to look out at snow and listen to Christmas music. Now it's time for a Christmas movie, I think. And I SHOULD sample those cookies to make sure they came out just right.

Made, I hope you're feeling better today...I saw where you weren't feeling great last night.

By the way, how is your foot?

Snow, are you all better? I know you were sick last week.

I am starting to feel better each day, thanks =]

How are you?

Good afternoon everyone!

Just checking in for a quick moment. I don't think I will have an opportunity to do so at any other time today. I am currently on prep while supplying at the same high school I have been since Wednesday. I kind of like it. Again, it's nice to only drive 25 minutes. And, of course, it's nice to become familiar with the staff and students.

In regards to my time being minimal, I have to go to the gym as soon as I return home from work today. Then, more importantly, I will be achieving a childhood dream this evening. Ever since I was about five yeras old, I have wanted to see the Barenaked Ladies live in concert. From the first time I heard "Enid," I fell in love with the Canadian band. Nowadays, I still enjoy them, but not nearly as much as that five-year-old. I can honestly say that they were my first favourite band.

Anyway, this evening, Kim and I will be seeing the Barenaked Ladies at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Hits and Holiday Songs! As many of you know, their album Barenaked For the Holidays is one of - if not top - my top favourite Christmas albums. Seeing them play their Christmas songs live will be yet another dream come true. I can't wait!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday. We're really closing in on our big day. Of course, we're also so close to reaching single digits! Merry Christmas, everyone!

Hope you have a great time!!!

Hi everyone!
I was hoping it wouldn't be too hectic here today but is. I had a doctor appointment this morning (just an annual exam) and then I had to bring my middle one to the doctor because she is sick again. She has a horrible cough and was up all night. And she woke me up at 2:00 a.m. to tell me she couldn't sleep. Then I couldn't sleep. I listened to her cough until my alarm went off at 5.00 a.m. At least the doctor said her lungs sound clear. I guess it's just going to take some time to go away. Anyway,I'm just trying to catch up with all of my chores now. I wanted to make beef stew in the crock pot but I didn't have time to throw it together this morning. I'll have to make it on the stove top later.
I hope everyone is well and having a great day. I will pop back in later tonight!

If you want to read an interesting take on the Fan, Ebenezer relationship, you should read "Jacob T. Marley" by R. William Bennett. I just finished reading it yesterday, and I really enjoyed it.

I've been meaning to pick that book up since I first saw an ad for it on FB. Thank you for the review!

Well folks, it's been one of those days and I'm not feeling the best. So I'm going to call it a night.

Goodnight, Everyone!!!!!!

I hope you are better today!

Glad your appointment went well and hoping your daughter feels better soon!

I don't even have any photos because the ornaments were going on the office tree as I made them! I crocheted little wreaths, a miniature pair of mittens, a miniature hat, a snowflake, and a star. One of my co-workers thinks I should sell them on Etsy! I also started a miniature sweater, but it's a sleeve short of being finished. I found all the patterns online and saved them to use again.

These all sounds so wonderful and so great of you to share your talents!

This time of the year makes me think of my grandma - I miss her so much! I can remember her standing in the kitchen and humming Christmas carols. She would cook and bake endlessly around the holidays and she loved every minute of it. She used to literally beam when I opened my presents from her. She was like a second mom, really. She really had so many medical issues after a messed up surgery and never felt good. Still, she managed to make Christmas so special and it never showed. I think I get my love for Christmas from her. It was passed down to my mom and myself. I just watched a Christmas movie that was one of her favorites and now I can't seem to get her off of my mind!

I hope you all are having a good evening. Thanks again for your prayers for my mom! She's still not better which has us concerned that it's something potentially serious. If it were a virus the fever should be dwindling by now. On top of that, she hasn't had an appetite for a couple of weeks. Guess we'll know more next week when the doctor gets in. Good night! Sleep well and sweet dreams!

My prayers continue for your mom, Jennifer! What wonderful memories you have of your grandma!!

Then you should love this picture! Last year my husband was doing part of his tour from Chicago, through Ohio, into Pennsylvania , and then New York. I was with him. We were in a little town called Conneaut, Ohio it's right on the water of Lake Erie. That year the freeze was so bad that something occurred in the lake effect that no one in the town who at ever seen. The water and the waves formed dunes of ice so instead of looking like a regular beach in the winter it looked like glaciers. I think it was one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
