********** MILESTONE DAY **********

Good Morning, Everyone!

Well, believe it or not, it's here.
The FINAL pre-Season Milestone of 2014.
Wow.

Days to the Season: 38
Days to Christmas Day: 80

Today.
TODAY!
We begin the Home Stretch run to Christmas Season 2014.
Yep. It's true.
We are NINETY PERCENT of the way back "home".

Warmer yesterday than the day before, but still a tad coolish. That should change over the next few days
and we are supposed to be in for nice run weather-wise through the remainder of the week.
This morning has commenced at 58 degrees here in our little part of the MMC universe.

Have a Terrific Tuesday and the Merriest of Milestone Days, Folks!

Me too! At home & the lake - I rarely use any skillet except my cast iron! LOVE THEM!

My favorite is one that Nancy's mom gave me. I bought a new one once, and I tried to "season" it in a hot oven with Crisco, but it never really worked just right. I use it for cornbread and things like that.

But drop an egg in the one that Mrs. Hilda gave me, and it'll slide right out...love that!

.

Snowflake,
I love that winter scene!!! I wish I was there RIGHT NOW!!!
I hope you feel better today!

Good Morning everyone!! I want to thank everyone that welcomed me back after my long hiatus, I have so much to catch up on here. Feel bad about losing touch with this site and all the wonderful people here, have to say I really feel bad about discovering the passing of CM3. When I was really active here a few years ago Louann's abundant Christmas spirit would always brighten my day. Just discovered the post about it today, one of the people I remembered the most from here. Life is so short. Will be spending a lot of time today just reading and catching up with all that has been going on in the last couple years

Anyway hope everyone is having a great day and the Christmas spirit is strong with everyone today! :sparkle:

We are glad you are back with us!
We all miss CM3 very much! She really added a lot to our forums.

So driving around over the weekend I noticed a yard sale at house a street over from mine there had been an elderly couple living there and every year he would go all out decorating for Christmas. My kids of course every year would say we would beat him out and have better display of course we never did. This man was an obvious Christmas junkie and he had years and years worth of great decorations, he never even knew he was in a competition with my kids . It seems that he passed away last November and believe me we noticed the unusual darkness of the yard last year but I thought maybe he was just ill and unable to decorate as usual what a shock . Then to see the yard sale with so much fantastic Christmas stuff being sold for pennies compared to what it meant to him was a sad thing to see . I bought a huge share of it to add to my collection and will think of that elderly couple when I put out this year but I thought I would share with the group the loss of someone who is unknown by us personally but is just like all of us .

That is a wonderful thing you are doing by buying up these treasured decorations. I bet the neighbors will be happy to see the decorations again in your yard.

We did something similar a few years ago with a man who went all out decorating every year. He was actually holding the yard sale himself because he had cancer and he said he just don't have the energy to mess with it anymore. We didn't buy up as much as you did but had to buy something to put in our yard to honor him. His house went up for sale and I am not sure if he passed away or maybe moved in with other family members but it makes us think of him every time we put the Christmas decorations in our yard.

Hmmmmm coffee anyone? Fresh Market has several blends .... Yabba!

Me, me, me!!! =)

I love my cast iron skillets! I got mine from my grandma who passed away 11 years ago.

With a new cast iron skillet I think it just takes time to get it really seasoned. It should season perfectly after many uses. Just like us, it gets better with age! :D

The repair guy will be back on Saturday to fix the air conditioner. The high will be 94 degrees today and right at 90 the rest of the week. Our first cool day will be on Saturday when I won't need the AC! Oh well, just gotta make the best of it! At least I have a roof over my head! cheesy

I want to get those Halloween decorations out on my porch but waiting for cooler weather to do that. Maybe I will do that early this morning before it heats up.

Goodness gracious! What in the world is wrong with your AC that it takes a week to get it fixed?!?

You should've pulled the plug wires off his truck engine and told him you'd be happy to swap plug wires for AC repair. LOL

He thinks about 2-3 more nights & he'll be done at our house! Gracie will be disappointed ~ she just LOVES him!! LOL!

This is so funny, but sooo true! I have a big family and I love visiting with them especially at the holidays, but at the same time I miss being able to walk around or do things that I normally would not do if they were not there....just being honest.lol! Hope yall get everything done soon!

Lol - yep! My Mil/FIL ended up coming over last night too - they stayed until after 11 & our friend was there til 12:30! So much for a little tv watching! But it'll be worth it! xx

I have a 4-1/2-foot unlit Balsam Hill tree, and it's beautiful. Their trees are pricey, but you get a good product. (I got a small lit wreath from them that I thought looked cheap, though.)

I bet it is gorgeous! I noticed the prices were a little steep, but there were a few that were a little more reasonable. Bummer about the wreath!

I'm not sure, maybe waiting on a part, overbooked with other repairs? He has always been reliable in the past so I am assuming he has a legit reason for not being able to get to us until then. The past several years he would be over right away to fix our AC/heater, first time to take this long. We rent the house so the bill is on the landlord so I didn't think to question it. The reason I am not too impatient is because we do have a window AC unit in our bedroom window. The problem is, we have to stay in our bedroom because it does not cool off the rest of the house. It is like a sauna throughout!!!

I like your idea though!

That is great! Glad things are in schedule, you must be so excited! (((Hugs))) to Gracie [emoji258]

Good Tuesday (Final Milestone Day!) morning, my Christmas friends!

I had a busy afternoon yesterday, working on my business, then a city council meeting. Mrs. Hilda (Nancy's mom) cooked supper for us, though, and that's always a treat.

I was beat last night, so at 9:30 I took a shower, then a Tylenol PM, and went to bed. Much better today!

I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

Thank you, CAH! Hope to be 100% by the weekend!! :)

Hope you're feeling better, too!

Thanks! I am okay this morning but could be better. If the weather was cooler today that would help. This heat takes everything out of me. We have a working AC in the bedroom but it's not the same as the naturally cool air Mother Nature has to offer! When I can get outside when it's cool I just feel so much better!!! Oh yeah, and I can breath too!

I want to open up the house and let the air flow through. Not happening until this weekend. I will survive!!! :D
