Christmas Countdown - 2014

Good Thursday morning, my Christmas friends!

I have some catching up to do (or, rather, some getting ahead to do) here at work so I can take the day off tomorrow. Nancy and I are heading up to Mgramsey's neck of the woods to celebrate our 20th anniversary. I know none of you have heard me bragging about our upcoming trip LOL.

Lulu is at the groomer this morning. Oh, she hates that trip. She cries like a child when we leave her there. It's seriously heartbreaking! But she'll look (and smell!) better for her weekend at mom's.

Good morning, everyone!

It is a rare day for me. I suspected to get a call to teach this morning, so I called into Passport and informed them I would not be in. The call for teaching never happened. It looks like I have a day off. Oops!

With the day off, I think I will do some responsible stuff around the house. My dad is actually coming to visit today. He should have already started the trek from Sault Ste. Marie, and will more than likely arrive around 3pm. It would be nice to have the apartment a tidy by then.

In terms of Ottawa, things are quiet. Much quieter than yesterday at this time. Everyone has returned to work, although security everywhere has been increased. I am sure that the city will be safe.

I should read some posts on here and then do some cleaning. I hope everyone has a great Thursday! We are only three weeks away from the start of the Christmas Season!

And a better question -- can these number really be correct?
Days to Halloween: 8 (ONE WEEK FROM TOMORROW!)
Days to the Season: 21 (Three weeks from today!)
Days to Christmas Day: 63 (Nine weeks from today!)

Well! Guess it's true.
The calendar don't lie.
But still..........


A cool turn yesterday and we barely made the low 60's by the afternoon.
Fortunately, it's supposed to warm up a bit by Saturday, when we go to the NC State Far.
We stand just above 45 degrees here at this hour in the capital city.

I can't help but smile while looking at those numbers. I can already hear Perry singing, "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas..." Wait. Maybe I can hear it because I've already turned on my Pandora Christmas playlist...? Cleaning is the only time I can listen to Christmas music until the 13... I need some incentive to do it!

Hello Christmas buddies! I am on a quick dinner break at work. The weather seems to be turning a corner, and the rest of the leaves in my backyard that were still on the sugar mables have some off with some windy gusts so I can already see myself and brandi raking, raking and more raking this weekend! I love Autumn and Spring yard work! The actual temps themselves are still mild and sunny during the day with temps today struggling to get out of the 50's and tonight we are suppose to have a low of around 42F, I think it gets up into the 70's this weekend and 30's and light frost at nights next week! I will take that at Halloween! I hope everyone has a great night and hope we all make it through the rest of this work week!!!! TTYL!

Woke up to frost this morning. It was great but like I said yesterday, the forecast is for warmer weather this weekend and into next week. Sure hope the long range forecast is correct and we have a colder than normal winter. So far this fall has been much too warm.

Good Morning my Christmas Friends!

My mom and I have went to the Arboretum the past 2 days to take a walk. They are setting up their Christmas display of the 12 Day of Christmas and live Christmas trees are popping up all over. Right now we see a mix of pumpkins set up all over with a mix of Christmas. I love it!

This weekends high temp will be 88 degrees. Then a cool down for the week ahead.

I am in a great mood today, one day closer to the holiday season! Weather is decent for late October here so I am going to take advantage of it and get a few of the last fall jobs that need done, putting in storm windows, taking the AC unit out of the bedroom, and weather stripping basement windows.
After another cup or two of coffee I will get on that!

Good Morning, MMC!!!!!!! Well no frost here this morning but if you went a little farther out from the city a lot of places got it. It's still pretty cool out there though with a temp of 36 degree's. We should get up to around 60 this afternoon and sun should be out most of the day for a change. Not a whole lot going on here today. Just need to run to the grocery and then it's back home to get back to my normal daily routine. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!

It's been a hard workweek ... we'll see how today pans out. I had to be here an hour early this morning---in the teeth of the wind and rain of an autumn Nor'easter---with Mr. in tow. That project is on the way out the door; Mr. will be working here until noon, just a half day today. We've been promised that we will be allowed to go out and have a nice lunch today before I have to return to the office for the afternoon. We'll see! The agency has been so busy and the workflow is so unpredictable, something could come up to prevent it.

Can't believe that Halloween is next Friday. I'm looking forward to the season, but sort of dreading it too. I'm getting the sinking feeling that there isn't enough time left to fulfill all my Christmas obligations on time this year. Things are kind of up in the air right now and time and energy are being spent elsewhere for the time being.

A heck of a storm overnight and into this morning---wind, rain, thunder, lightning, flooded roadways, downed trees and branches. At least it wasn't an icy Snowtober like a few years ago just before Halloween.

Even though Halloween is on Friday this year, we cities have agreed to do trick-or-treating on Thursday to avoid schedule clashes and heavy traffic related to high school football.

I'm sure HS football is a big deal everywhere, but it's the only deal around here. LOL

I'm not a football fan, so It'll be weird to sit around the house on Halloween.
