Hope you start feeling better soon, MerryCarey!!!

Thank you!
Feeling enough better that I think I will string the lights on the tree after all. (It's only a 4-1/2-foot tree, but it's dense---I put something like 400-450 lights on it.) I just bought "The Cinnamon Bear" and will listen to that while I work.

I hope you feel better soon! What a crummy time to feel under the weather!! I am a tad jealous of your snow though...be safe if you have to get out in it!

Thank you!
You don't need to be jealous of THIS snow. It's a mushy, slushy mix of snow and sleet. It's been going since about mid-day, but there is only an inch or two on the ground. I can hear the sleet clacking against the windows.

Here's 1 of my 2 new lighted prints I bought the other week:

First let me say that on the food channel Bobby Flay makes everything look so easy for preparing a turkey...you all should have seen me single handedly try to message butter and salt and pepper under the skin of the turkey then wrestle it into the cooking bag. Well it's done now I just hope the skin turns out crispy almost like it was fried! My brother in law who is flying in tonight will fry my other turkey in the morning. Now I am just waiting for the turkey to get done then I will put in the stuffing in the oven. Then that is it until the am!!! I am soooo glad when I drive the expressways to the airport I don't have to flight snow like last year....I hope everyone who is traveling whether by car or plane is safe! I sure will be praying for everyone here!

LOL!!!! I hope it turns out great for you!!!! Have a safe trip to the airport to pick up your sister, Dawg!!!

Hi friends! Wanted to check in and say hi! In in my kitchen, watching the snow fall out the window and baking away! So far, I've baked cinnamon rolls and I'm about to put in blueberry muffins . I still have to make cookies, 2 pumpkin pies, a pumpkin roll. I ordered a cherry pie and a Dutch pie off a neighbor, so I a least already have that checked off! I'll check back in later to caught up!

Sounds like you are going to be baking up a storm!!! Hope you can get it all done quickly!!!! At least it sounds like you have a lovely atmosphere to do it in!! Have fun friend!!!

Whatever you decide to do ~ feel better!!!

Thank you!
Still a wee bit rocky, but better than this morning. Just having an afternoon where I can choose what I want to do feels good!

I'm glad CAH is ok, just busy!! Let her know we all wish her a Happy Thanksgiving ~ if you talk to her!
I will have to send my friend a text to see what kind of weather they are having!! Stay safe 'n warm! And again ~ feel better!!!

I will!
Safe and warm is right. It's so good to be in a snug, warm house when the sleet is rattling against the windows. Mr. and I had a late lunch, then he baked some chocolate chip cookies from store-bought dough. As I mentioned, I'm about to start working on the Christmas tree lights, which will make it feel even cozier! Even better, tomorrow's dinner fixin's are safely stowed in the fridge. We have Thanksgiving for just the two of us, so we get sliced turkey and sides from Boston Market and make stuffing and brown-'n'-serve rolls at home. Not fancy, but a feast!

You'll be a pro with turkeys by next year! I bet it will be delicious, let us know how it turns out!

Hi sugar!
Happy cooking!!
:rudolph:

Mom & Dad were so bummed b/c they were calling for sun all day today & they were planning to make peanut brittle. Then they changed the forecast to cloudy all day (which it has been) & now they can't make peanut brittle. They were not happy! (Have to make peanut brittle on sunny days or it will be sticky!)

Gosh, it's like making caramel frosting---if the weather is too humid, it just doesn't come out right! (Nostalgia attack---it's been YEARS since I had homemade caramel frosting on yellow cake … my grandmother's specialty. After she passed away, a very kind friend made me a caramel cake. I'll never forget that.)

Stop, you're making me hungry!
I bet you wind up with some lovely, succulent turkeys tomorrow!

Hoping that everyone has safe travels and delicious dinners tomorrow!

:family:

I'll probably watch the Macy's Parade in the morning and work on Christmas cards. We'll have dinner about three-ish, and may wind up spending the evening screening some 16mm film. There are some particular films we like to kick off the Christmas season with.

Have a great dinner tomorrow! The main reason I am cooking so much today is that for once I want to enjoy the Macy's parade without getting sidetracked..that is such a tradition going back to childhood,,I still love to see santa at the end!

Seeing Santa at the end is the best part! I still get that magical feeling as well, and hopefully always will!

I know what you are saying!!! I haven't been able to watch it for years because of having to cook. I'm hoping to be able to watch some of it this year.

Breakfast is done and kitchen is clean part 1. Now I am debating whether to go ahead and roast our 14 pound turkey today with the cornbread stuffing. Brandi has decided to ask a few of her students who are living in the dorms at her school who was not able to go home for the holiday to come spend tomorrow with us. So I am going to try to fry a slightly larger 16 pound turkey in the indoor fryer..I simply can't wait to try that out! I remember those old outdoor fryers use to really scare me, so I always let my bro in law do it. Everything is in the fridge just waiting to be cooked and I don't really have anything to do but entertain the inlaws. BTW they sure dodged a bullet by coming out west, I think they are having a snow storm at home in Massachusetts right now...I hope everyone out that way is hunkered down, and I hope you all are staying safe out there!
my sister is professor of nursing at the university of Vermont and her and her husband always have students over for thanksgiving that could not make it home. They have a lot of fun with it every year and the kids feel less homesick.
Sounds like your feast will be delicious!
Enjoy your time with the family.

Just looked at my webcams at skisoutheast.com and by gosh it is snowing in the Smokey Mountains of NC and blue ridge mountains of NC and Virginia and it looks like a blizzard in West Virginia!!! I seems every year whether it is out west or east there is a travel nightmare on this busy travel day. I guess it's the time of year where Fall is giving way to winter...I need to check our local weather I have been so wrapped up in the east coast storm...!
you guys should move your thanksgiving to the same date as us Canadians, travel is much better in October !

Good evening, dear friends!
Wishing you a merry night!
