That would be great for him to have a buddy like that.

The kids in town here are still dealing with the after affects of the June 2011 tornado that hit here. My wife has to calm a lot of them down if there is a thunderstorm or strange noises, the traumatic experience really hits kids hard.

My prayers are with the kids in your town, too.

:lol::lol:

So funny!!!

oi....somewhere in Nordrhein-Westfalen - the biggest State in Germany.....a World War II Bomb exploded and killed the man who operated the power shovel that was digging on a building lot....of course noone knew there was one of those bombs that never exploded.....it´s a big tragedy........

a few weeks after Kandice was born one of those bombs was found on the playground of her current school.......so the people surrounding it were evacuated and the bomb was deactivated.....unfortunately the bomb up there did not know of it when the shovel hit it....:(

Oh my, that is tragic. I will be praying for his family and friends.

There are bombs from the wars all over the world yet. When my brother was in the service he went somewhere cliff climbing and came across a cave full of unexploded bombs. Apparently the signs that posted the area off limits were ruined in storms so he and his friends had no idea they were in a danger zone. Nobody was hurt, thank God!

Yes they do. Hope your community is bouncing back!

Ryan, you're beautiful!!! cheesy Everyone here is beautiful!!!!

Haha...thanks! At least someone has noticed. :)

Shoveling wasn't too bad, because our plow guy came by during the night, so we only had a couple inches to deal with. After being housebound yesterday, the exercise actually felt kinda good to me! But after I came in I found a job from work that had been sitting in my email for 45 minutes, so I had to jump on that right away … then got showered, and now JUST getting lunch!

Thank you, it's gone thanks to some Aleve and a couple mugs of tea.

I'm happy to read shoveling wasn't too bad and that your headache is gone!

The scariest I'll get is the Disney version of the Legend Of Sleepy Hollow, with Bing Crosby doing the narrating. cheesy

Bing Crosby can be one scary dude!

I remember a lot of things from when I was in Berlin, Kiel and Hamburg Germany back in 1983, and some of them was that in some portions of the cities, there were still some reminders of that horrible war, in the fact that some of the buildings that was not yet repaired/ rebuilt, the wall separating East and West Germany and reading about the constant and never ending problems of finding unexploded ordnance.... I read that they have these special ordnance teams in Germany, that only deal in this sort of thing.

Thank the Lord no one was hurt! That could have been so tragic. God was truly looking out for him and his friends that day!

Me, too! Me, too!

Haha...I have the feeling every married guy on here is going to be putting extra logs on the fire or turning their heaters up really high this weekend to see if it works. What's wrong with us? :)

Good afternoon,

Just sitting here still trying to warm up from being out in the cold. I am finally watching The Great Christmas Light Fight, it is okay. I could never compete with these people, even though my kids seem to think we could. cheesy

Still wearing my Christmas shirts, but the PCBs are starting to wane, they will hit again when I finally take down everything next week.

Just relaxing for the last few days before I head back to work on Monday.

I bet you could do it! :)

I went out in layers, long johns, jeans, snow pants, long sleeve wicking t-shirt, heavy sweatshirt, heavy jacket, full ski mask and thick gloves, and two pairs of socks. I could still feel the cold through all my layers. It was absolutely brutal out there.

Keep warm, the worst is coming tonight.

I know it! We're going to be snuggled up warm inside!

Good afternoon, MMC friends! Just sitting here catching up with you guys and spending time with the kids. It's pj day and we're currently watching the Polar Express.

What is everyone else up to???

I honestly don't know if I would want to, that is a lot of work.

I know my electric company would want me to though. cheesy

You are exactly right - you're electric bill would be outrageous!

So, last night, as you all know, I am in my new house now, and it has an wood burning insert in the fireplace. It's a Quadra-fire voyager grand wood insert. I've never seen one or operated one before, so last night I decided to make a fire in it.

Well, lets just say my first attempt was not so good. I had the whole house filled up with smoke, the smoke detectors were going off, I had to open up all the doors, turn on all the exhaust fans, I had to get a fire extinguisher to put out the fire I had made. Oh boy, what a mess....

So, not to be deterred, I grabbed the laptop, went to youtube, and did a search of "how to make a fire in a Quadra-Fire wood insert". I watched several video's and I decided to make a second attempt at it, and I was successful....

Oh wow, get this, after I had it warmed up, I turned the blowers on, and it heated up my whole entire house, to the point where I started peeling off clothes. My oil-fired furnace never ran once during the wind and snow event last night...

Hmmmmm, I may have to remember that one for a date night with my honey~

Haha...love the story...and your idea for date night. If it works, give me the info about how I can install one of these fireplaces!

Me, too! Me, too!

"But baby, it's cold outside.......!!!":lol::lol::lol:

Glad to hear the shoveling wasn't too bad!

Glad to hear the headache has went away too. Enjoy your afternoon/evening staying warm!

Thank you! Once our workdays are over we'll relax and keep warm all evening.
