Oh my, the temperatures are just brutal!
I'm happy you get to stay home today, enjoy your day off!!!

Thank you, HmG!! I plan to!!

Good Morning MMC!!!!!! It's going to be a frigid day here with a high of -5. We are currently at -15 with a wind chill of -40. Brrr!!! I just went out and started my mom's car and let it warm up for awhile. It protested and didn't want to do it but I won in the end. They are saying the winds are going to get stronger as the day goes on so I'm going to stay inside as much as possible. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!

Stay warm, buddy.

The winds have picked up here, too. I tried to go back to sleep, but the snow hitting the windows kept me from doing so. It looks like a white out. The street lights are still on!

My apartment? LOL!!!!

Haha! Nice try!!

You can enjoy him when you visit

Merry Morning!!! Anyone ever told you guys you all talk too much! LOL I am trying my best to catch up but it is HARD with Isaac.

How was the weekend? Ours was good, quiet. We watched the movie 'New Years Eve' for the first time on Saturday night. I thought it was quite appropriate for the transition out of the season.

Mr Festive is back to work today and Jacob is back to school. I know we are already on the 6th but it feels like my official start to the year now. The tree came down on Friday and I am in the middle of taking down everything else this morning.

It is such a bittersweet feeling. Obviously I feel sad that the season has past but every now and then I get a little surge of excitement thinking about Christmas 2014. The Christmas spirit reminding me of things to come.

I got a few decorations in the sale last week including some festive candy cane coloured tinsel!

Well I hope everyone has a good day at work or home. Hopefully I can find some time to pop back later!

Hope you have a good day too, Festive!!!!

Good Morning friends!

This weather is crazy in CT. We had snow last week and then it warmed up today to high 40's and we are having a t-storm right now. But we are going into a deep freeze tonight.

I have to take my oldest daughter to the orthopedist today. We were at a friend's house on Sat night and the kids were goofing around and she landed on her wrist wrong. I took her to Urgent care yesterday for an xray and they did not think it was fractured but wanted an ortho to look at the growth plate. So she has an appt at 3:15.

I took down my Christmas decorations yesterday and my house seems so bare but I still have my outdoor ones out. I think I will leave them on the rest of this week and take them down this weekend.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning MMC! Hope you all stay warm today...this cold is crazy!

First full work week after the holidays. I need some of Carl's special blend!

I could definitely go for a few gallons of Carl's special blend today!!!!!

Hope you have a wonderful day too, BoxerMom!!

Okay now they are saying that we aren't going to get any warmer as the day goes on. That we will just hover around the -15 mark. Boo!!!!!

Oh and we are going to get another 3 to 5 inches of snow on Thursday!!!! Boo!!!! I'm over it!!!! We have already had 26.7 inches which is an inch more than we would normally get in a typical winter!!!

It's mighty cold weather to have a bone injury, ouch! I hope it's not cracked.

Good morning! I awoke here this morning at 4:45am to a temperature of 40 degrees and since I've been here at work, it's already down to 34 degrees and dropping. It looks like that cold blast is starting to make it's way or should I say, push it's way here...

I just don't know what it is about being where I moved to, but I had another ice event yesterday/ last night. I left the house in the van with my wife and daughter, when I got down our street to end, it's a hill. I started down the hill, slowly, and that was it, I completely lost control of the van. Lisa starts yapping at me about driving so close to the shoulder of the road, and I said it's not me but the momentum of the van. I was not driving it, it was driving us.....

We slid down and around a curve without hitting the guardrail or driving off the road; about 75 feet. I ended up at the bottom of the hill, in the other lane of traffic (with no other car in sight)... I had to pull over and recollect myself, and check my drawers just to make sure I didn't have an accident in them.....

There was this light mist falling at the time, it was foggy and the road was just cold enough where it started freezing up; black ice....it about scared the beagebees out of me~ I drove the rest of the way on pins and needles until I got back home.

Between that and the Packers losing, esh, what a crappy night! At least there was one good thing, by the grace of god, I didn't hit anything or anyone. I never want to go thru that again~

So glad you are all okay!!!!!

I have never seen the entire area under the same warning at the same
time :

9:32 AM EST Monday 06 January 2014
Wind chill warning for
Extreme wind chills from minus 35 to minus 40 tonight and Tuesday morning.

In the wake of the storm, cold brisk winds are expected to produce widespread dangerous wind chills of minus 30 to minus 35 beginning late today. Wind chills can reach minus 35 to minus 40 overnight tonight and Tuesday morning.

Extreme caution is advised for people heading outdoors. Exposed skin may freeze in less than 5 minutes.

Moreover, it is also suggested to help prevent freezing of pipes in buildings, one could turn on the lowest tap in the house and let it run as a pencil-thin stream or fast drip while keeping indoor temperatures a little warmer at night.

Wind chills will improve slowly on Tuesday.

A rapidly intensifying winter storm centre from Texas has moved into Southern Quebec this morning.

Environment Canada will continue to monitor this evolving situation and update warnings accordingly.

Please monitor the latest forecasts and warnings from Environment Canada at www.weatheroffice.gc.ca.

Wow, I thought that picture was funny but it really is true. There are only 8 out of the 92 counties in Indiana that don't have some kind of travel restrictions in place right now. It's illegal to drive in 50 of them.

So if you want to go to the area around New Albany, you are good to go!! North and west of that though, you are out of luck.

Holy cow! That's one big, mean storm. Stay safe and warm.

Running around like a crazy person this morning. Not how I like to spend Epiphany morning, but we had an issue with a cow and some business matter pop up at 7:20am. Yippee.

Just wanted to pop in here and ask for some warm thoughts for my closest friend, Mary. She lives in Heavener, OK. Their house isn't heated and it doesn't have a fireplace either. The have several space heaters, but it's just not getting the job done. It's 8 degrees outside and inside her thermometer is reading 37. They can't afford a hotel room and the landlord refuses to fix the furnace. :-(

The ice has melted with the warmer temperatures but it will get colder as the day goes on. We are bracing ourselves for record breaking cold temperatures for Tuesday and Wednesday. Boo!

Our forecast is similar. We're getting a lot of snow melting this morning, with a weird fog floating on top of the snow. Tonight it will be in the teens. I hope it will stay above freezing until I can get home! Our street is curb-to-curb slush this morning, and if that freezes solid, nobody will be able to drive. I'm hoping they'll plow away the slush today, but they will probably just drop some sand and salt and call it a day.

Yipe!!! I'm glad you got through that safely. A car out of control on ice is a very scary experience. I can still remember spinning in a circle on an overpass when I was a teen. I hope the town or county or whatever will sand and salt out your way.

Come on down to the Sooner State and hang out this week...we will get back into the 50s.

It's supposed to get down in the teens today! It's so unusual this far south and this close to the coast, there'll be a little panic. I was in Bernie's store this morning, and it was the talk of the town. LOL

I have a city council meeting tonight. I better stop by City Hall this afternoon and pump up the heat before the meeting!

Keep warm, y'all!
