Christmas Countdown - 2014

Good Monday morning, my Christmas friends!

As the picture I posted earlier this morning indicates, we did indeed have a great afternoon of fishing yesterday. We only got two bass over the side of the boat, but we missed a few more, so it was an exciting afternoon. Jacob hooked a big one that jumped a foot out of the water...then tangled the line around an underwater stump. "You should have seen one that got away!" LOL

It's another beautiful day here, sunny and going to the low 70's. It's supposed to be 80° by Thursday!

As much as I love the snow ... hearing about these warmer temps is making me jealous :wink: I am ready for some warmer temps so I can open the windows and air out the house.

Suppose to get another inch or 2 of snow tomorrow morning and then the temps hit the 50s towards the end of the week.

Wow!!!! What a snowstorm.... We ended up getting around 15-16 inches+ out of it and I had drifts of 38 -42 inches deep out in my driveway and in the front yard. It took me all afternoon until 30 minutes ago to snow blow my driveway and I still did not finish it. My neighbor came over with his front end loader and did the entire top of my driveway because that was about five feet deep up there (due to the snow plows).

I'm exhausted....Sore and I over did it a little out there because I'm bleeding again... I'm going to rest up a little bit because it is snowing its butt off again and I just heard we are supposed to get another 5-6 more inches of snow tonight. Looks like more shoveling and snow blowing for tomorrow morning... But I love all this!

I'm sitting here on the couch, leg propped up with an ice pack on my knee (because that hurts too - middle age stinks...) watching the snow falling outside while a crackling fire is roaring in the fireplace. find it so relaxing watching the snow falling outside....

I hope you are all dug out now!!! But it does sound beautiful!!!

Thank you, everyone! It's been a crummy day. Last time I worked from home there were no jobs. Today they were nonstop. I took a break to fix lunch---I HAD to do a grilled cheese in the waffle iron, after those posts this morning. While it was in, our friend/plow guy rang the doorbell, so I had to yank it out half-done while I chatted with him and paid. I didn't have time to make a new one, so I stuck it back in the waffle iron, and it turned out so-so. Then more wall-to-wall work until shortly after 5 p.m., when I went out in the rain to shovel a space in the driveway so Mr. can get in when he gets home. My car is snowed in tight. The snow is ankle-deep in the driveway AND the street. The unofficial total here is 9 inches, with a couple more expected tonight in the "backlash" of the storm. Mr. wanted to catch an earlier train home, but they told him to wait, they might have overtime work for him. :? I'm so wound up from the day I can't begin to unwind.

And they think we could have another 6"+ snowstorm this weekend. I'm ready to cry.

I know others are having a worse day than me. I'm just tired and cranky and whiny right now.

I'm hoping to read more posts before quitting time this afternoon - they are saying 1-3" of snow tonight mixing with sleet & freezing rain. The roads are already turning ICKY due to the wind blowing the existing snow! It can snow all it wants tonight, if we skip the sleet & freezing rain! ;-)

We got a call last night from the breeder. We can pick up our puppy Saturday morning!! EXCITED! Now I'm getting nervous! Hopefully Buster will be ok with it. EEK! What did we get ourselves into?? Ha ha ha!

I agree, as much as I love the snow.... the hints of spring are making me excited for warmer weather, flowers, sunshine....

Nancy and I don't really celebrate V-Day, but we do things for the kids, and we're having dinner with her sister & BIL tonight. We got the kids some candy and a copy of Despicable Me 2. I'm looking forward to seeing that one. :wink:

I've been waiting impatiently for a few weeks to find out if I get the promotion I've been discussing with my boss. I know he wishes I'd quit hanging out around his office door...LOL. I might even get a Valentine's Day kiss if I came home with a raise! Maybe one day he'll tell me.

Oh darn, I forgot we're getting more tomorrow! I declared yesterday winter's last hurrah but maybe this next one is just the after party... lol. I took down my snowmen and snowflakes today in protest!!!

We talked about this at our stitch & *itch the other night. We decided it's best to leave snowmen up for now, so that it snows now & warms up when it's SUPPOSED to be warming up here!! None of this cold until June stuff like last year. :lol: (But I understand your thinking!) :smile:

Good morning everyone. Home with the kids today for Presidents day. With all the cold and snowy weather we have been having I have Christmas on the mind. Picked up a couple gifts at the Hallmark store the other day - all their Christmas stuff is marked down 75% off. I just may go back again this week.

I plan on working on my Christmas notebook today... jotting down some new ideas for gifts, baking, decorating and activities.
