Christmas Countdown - 2014

Good Morning, MMC!!! It's going to be hot here in central Indy with a high of 83 degrees. Boo!! The neurologist has already been in this morning and he said mom's heart enzymes were fine overnight. That she just had a small TIA. Her shoulder is still killing her though. So they are going to do an MRI of it today to see what is going on. They also still have an echocardiogram scheduled for today. Hopefully they will get everything done early and we can get out of here today. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!

This is weird (or maybe not!) I kept having dreams about Christmas all night long! Every time I would wake up from one dream I would fall back asleep and have another one - all of them about Christmas!!! Every dream was a little different but it was celebrating with my family on Christmas Day. We would be at a different house each time and the weather was different from real cold to sunny and warm. Typical Texas Christmas weather from year to year.

Ryan, you will like this one but one of my dreams we planned on watching the John Wayne movie marathon on Christmas Day. Don't they do that every Christmas? It seems like one of the holidays they show John Wayne all day. I like John Wayne but would NOT watch his movies on Christmas! No disrespect to the Duke but I only watch Christmas related shows and movies on Christmas and nothing else. I just thought it was funny that I dreamed about that!!!

I don't have too much going on today. I have to run to the pet store for a few things then back home to get started on my daily chores. I also need to finish planning my daughters graduation party!

My wife is going to kill me, I just bought a new copy of "It's A Wonderful Life" 2 Disc Collectors set. I got it for $3 on Ebay. After reading the reviews on it I had to have it. My wife won't understand why I bought something we already own, but I think the upgrade will be worth it.

What are the extras? Is it a new transfer?
One joy of being married to a film collector is that he understands the urge to upgrade when a better version comes along ... so maybe I will!
(P.S.: We won't let your wife kill you.)

As the year pass and I close in on late middle age, I particularly identify with the lines "I've grown a little leaner, grown a little colder, grown a little sadder, grown a little older and I need a little angel sitting on my shoulder."
The song is upbeat but melancholy too. A message that you should enjoy yourself because time is moving on and it's later than you think.

I second that observation. Many days I'm looking for that little angel.

Still nice here in central North Carolina, and the dry weather is holding.

Should be good right on through the weekend.

Starting off this morning, we record 62 degrees on our back door thermometer.

This is the first open house of May and theme parlor games are in the works from our friendly pumped (or should I say humped?) activities director.

"Mother, May I" is one of the games. ("Carl, May I"?)

Another one he mentioned is "May Day! May Day!" (not so sure I want to be involved in that one!)

I'm not sure if it's in Christmas but I'm with you...Duke movies don't really fit. Now, his film "3 Godfathers" is actually a Christmas movie, but certainly not a traditional one.

I think a Duke marathons goes great on the 4th of July! And almost every other day of the year.

Oh yeah! I meant to tell you that I was going to ask my dad about that John Wayne movie and yes, he has seen it and he said he enjoyed it very much. I will have to check it out sometime!

I just googled it and it does show from the past years that John Wayne movies show all day on Christmas Day. Titled: AMC's Christmas with the Duke.

I just wonder why I dreamed that when I have no plans to ever watch that marathon. In my dream it was a plan! Ha ha!

Weird day yesterday. Got a headache in the morning that wouldn't go away, even with headache tablets, and had to go home about 2 p.m. and lie down. (Thank heaven it didn't happen on a super-busy day!) Finally got rid of it in the late afternoon, but it left me very tired out and a little woozy. Still kind of tired and woozy today, but I want to stick it out and do a day's work. Hoping some tea will help to get me going!

The best part of my dream is that my uncle showed up! He had the best Christmas celebrations at his house that I miss dearly. He passed away 2 years ago. It was nice "seeing" him again in my dreams and celebrating Christmas with him again!!!

I've had that same dream often...that it's Christmas or a few days before and I realize I've missed the season. It's awful!

Maybe you dreamed it because subconsciously you are telling yourself you need more Duke in your life!

3 Godfathers is very good! It's Christmas in the old west, but actually does have some Christmas cheer in it.
