Good Monday morning, my Christmas friends!

Wow, what a busy weekend! I woke up this morning and thought, "Oh my, what do I have to do today? Oh, it's Monday! I get to go to work and get some rest!!"

Ok, it didn't go exactly like that, but I worked my hiney off this weekend. Now we have Vacation Bible School starting this afternoon, and Nancy tells me she needs a bunch of sand put in a plastic pool for the little kids to play in. It'll take half my pickup truck's bed full of sand to full that pool! She said the shovel handle has my name on it. I don't know who keeps writing my name on the shovel!!

Good morning ~
Everyone is sleeping in here. I typically enjoy the peace and quiet but I don't know. Can't stop thinking about Molly. I'm really weepy this morning. It took all I had to hold myself together yesterday for my husbands birthday, I didn't want to be a blubbering mess on his special day. This is so hard. I really need to pull myself together. I have some shopping to do today for my youngest, her birthday is tomorrow. That's all I plan on doing today.
I hope everyone is well and has a nice day.

Good Morning everyone on this beautiful Sunday morning here in Maryland. Happy Flag Day....

Quiet morning here, everyone is still asleep, coffee is done and I am already making my plans (in my head) for my day's activities in and around the house.

Last night, the wife and I went down to visit her grandfather (he's 92) for a little bit and the assisted living place where he has been living for the last 5 years. It's a really nice place and he likes it there. It was sort of a sad experience for me in a way because he is in the stages of dementia. He's happy, believes everything that his brain is telling him that he's see's, but wow, was it a difficult experience to witness him going thru what he is going thru.

I mean like one second he's talking about things that are true, family and such and then the next very second, he looks down at the carpet on the floor and says, to me, "do you see all the fish down there, I think they are going to catch them and we will have fish for dinner tomorrow night"!.... He's not bad off, he's happy, very inquisitive to everything he believes he is seeing, but for me and my wife, it's just hard to see someone go thru this....

Makes a person soul search and wonder to themselves, "Will I get old, will I go thru this, will someone be there to take care of me, etc...."! It really makes you think when you take the time, to sit in the assisted living facility and look around at all the people in there....and I wonder, are they really happy?

Any way's, just my pondering thoughts this morning, I do that when I see something that troubles me or makes me wonder about things...

My wife is in the medical profession and she understands a lot of things like this, and she see's him a lot more than me, but it was just hard for me, because I do not see him too often anymore. For me to see such a smart, bright, intelligent man, go down this road, it saddened and troubled me. And yet, it also made me wonder about the human brain, what causes it to mis-fire the way it does, etc.....

Sending (((HUGS))) your way too. It is hard to see! I noticed a lot of that when Dad was in the nursing home for rehab. Thankfully he never lost his mind ~ sharp as a tack to the end...now Mom on the other hand has a tougher time remembering things! Hate it!

good Sunday morning, my Christmas friends!

Boy, it's hot down south! 95° yesterday, it's supposed to be 97° today, and 100° tomorrow...and it's just June!

Jacob's gig Friday night went well. He left there with his best friend who came to support him. His buddy plays, too, but not in the same group. They get together and write songs, though, and have a blast just jamming.

I cut the grass yesterday (finally!), rode over to my brother's shop for a little while, then got in the pool...to vacuum it. Yeah, that's why! :lol: Man, it was nice in the water. The kids and I went to the family reunion for supper and an auction. We got home about 9:30 last night, and they got in the pool. I went to bed!

I just got back from the reunion. I had to cook breakfast for all those folks. I LOVE cooking big breakfasts. I lost count of how many eggs, and how many pounds of bacon I cooked. I was a short-order blur! LOL

We're having lunch at mom's. Everyone stay cool!

Morning, friends! Hope all is well. Going to be a hot one today. Like Crown, more of the same. We didn't get as hot as Brad, but it got kinda warm...90sh.

Yard work and house work today. Cooked two crockpot meals yesterday and I'm going to cook two more today. I'm falling in love with my crockpot...lol.

As others have already said … Happy Flag Day!

I have a couple of coffee-table books about flag history and vintage flags---it's time to enjoy browsing through those again.

I'm lucky enough to have seen the original Star-Spangled Banner several times. On school field trips to the Smithsonian, and on a visit to D.C. several years ago when they were doing conservation work on it. They did the work in a special conservation lab with a glass wall in the Smithsonian Museum of American History, so visitors could see the work in progress. It was a thrill being so close to such a venerable piece of history! It's amazing that the same flag that Francis Scott Key saw still exists, however fragile.

Someone posted this on the forum a couple years ago, and I saved a copy. Today is a good day to post it again!

I've been out in West Texas at the Palo Duro Canyon. I really enjoyed it! My uncle and I took a little over night trip there and it was good to get away. He lost his son a couple of years back and with me losing my dad, we figured it may be good for both of us. We had a good time. Here's a view from the canyon rim:

Yes, it is truly me before 11:30 at night.

Jurassic World was AWESOME!!!!! Best movie we have gone to the theater to see in a long time. It was so good we are going to make plans to see it again.


I am going to head to bed early, a good night of sleep is a must at this point.

Happy Monday Snowflake!

Good morning everyone, Happy Monday!
Sophia are Rosie are completely bonkers this morning. They've been chasing each other around the house, it sounds like a herd of elephants are in here when they run across the wood floors. I have my sliding glass door open and every once in a while they climb to the top of the screen and catapult themselves off. Nutjobs.
Anyway, today is my youngest daughters birthday. I'm going to take the girls to P.F. Chang's for lunch, maybe do a little bit of shopping with them. Then back home to bake a birthday cake and make lasagna for dinner.

Lucy Fur brought her kittens up to the porch ~ 2 long-haired black kittens and one short hair. Cute little guys! When they aren't so afraid, I will try to get pictures.

Good morning MMC! Happy Monday! We had a little rain this morning & now the sun is out. I'm guessing it's pretty hot 'n steamy out there after the rain!! Guess I'll find out at lunch!!

The weekend went too fast again! We did the bicycle p oker run on Saturday. Since it was postponed from 2 weeks ago, they were way down on riders. Last year there were almost 400 & this year it was around 125. Lots of picnics & weddings going on this weekend! But we had fun!

Mom went to the Y this morning, so that's a good thing. I'll stop there at lunch to see how she's doing!

My sister brought her there & my other sister picked her up. The "Pick up" sister said the girls at the Y wanted to talk to her. They just wanted us to be aware that they have seen a decline in Mom - moves slower, weaker, balance not as good. They just wanted the family to be aware. Makes me sad, but we were aware. That was nice of them. They do feel that she knows her limitations. We feel a lot of it could be depression. I'm curious to see what they found out from her heart monitor. We see the cardiologist on Friday. xx

Good Morning, MMC!!!!! It's going to be another hot and humid one here in central Indy with a chance of some storms moving through. Bring them on I say!!! It doesn't look like we are going to get a break from the humidity anytime soon. Mom had an appointment with her neurologist this morning. Like normal, he didn't say much. Just made her an appointment for a sleep study and a cardiologist. Then back to him in a month. So more running around for me. Then I came here to my aunts house so I could check in with all of you. I miss you all!!! I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!
