Happy Fourth of July, everyone! It's raining here, but we're having a fun a relaxing day in spite of that. We are just getting ready to start our dinner; Hamburgers, bratwurst, and all the trimmings.

Did anyone see the ballgame between the Orioles and White Sox today? They had special uniforms for the Fourth of July. Mom and I were getting into that, since baseball is the "Great American Pastime".

Forgot to mention that we celebrated a bit of the Fourth yesterday. We went to a local restaurant for a late lunch, and on the drive there, we had a silly notion to roll the car windows down and play loud Sousa marches. (Not through residential areas!) We pulled into the parking lot just as "Stars and Stripes Forever" went into the big finish, so we let it play out. We didn't notice until we were inside that the restaurant had its windows open, so we must have unknowingly given a few diners a patriotic serenade! We conducted ourselves very quietly inside the restaurant... It COULDN'T have been us!

Of course it wasn't! You would never have inflicted your patriotic passion upon innocent passersby...er...diners!

I would dare you to repeat the stunt in December with Christmas music at full blast, but you would freeze, & the eating establishment's windows will be closed. It would be a terrible waste of merry music making... Naaaah!!! There's no such thing!

The weather turned out to be pretty good today, we had a couple of light showers early this afternoon and then it cleared up. We had lots of great food and a wonderful day with family. I'm beyond exhausted though so I'm going to turn in, if I can. The fireworks are still going strong here, Maggie has been growling non stop. But I'm sure it will dwindle down soon.

Someone in the neighborhood let off a few fireworks (illegal in this state). But in spite of the noise, I confess I enjoyed them. I hadn't seen live fireworks in years and years! A friend at the office slipped me two sparklers that she got at an out-of-state wedding, so I burned those a little while ago. I hadn't had any of those since I was a teenager. It's been a fine day! It isn't quite over yet, either!
