Good afternoon/evening. I ended up spending most of the day with my grandfather and at the doctors office. About 6 hours total of driving, doctor and pharmacy.... I have to take him for some follow up test because the heart doctor detected that he is retaining water again and he would like my grandfather to have additional test to test for congestive heart failure. Me, I call it old age (96.5). So, I have to take him next week for an ECHO, xray and blood work and then the doc wants to see him again in a month. It is what it is. Days like this, I just take one of my vacation days and spend it with him; kinda no rush sort of day....

I didn't really get into doing anything with the basement today, just didn't have the time to really get into it. So, I just asked my son to give me a hand carrying building supplies into the house so they won't tomorrow if it rains (like they are calling for it to do so). Plus that way, it's in the house and I don't have to worry about them.

Well, hope everyone is enjoying their day so far....

Keeping your grandpa in my prayers. I hope the tests go well.

I know one thing, he made me promise to him for me not to go above and beyond with medical care. He said to me "that if it is time for the good Lords calling, then don't hold me back....!" What can I say to that other that I told him that I would respect his wishes, to the wats of my own wishes....

I don't think you're wrong for feeling that way, it sounds like he's doing amazingly well, bless his heart! What a long life he's leading.

I would feel the same way in his shoes.

Prayers that you never have to make that decision.

I know how much you treasure every moment with him!
I'd give anything to have another day with my grandparents [emoji169]

He sounds like my neighbor that passed last year. He was 97 and said he was ready. That all of his hard work back during the depression at the lumber yard was catching up with him and that he was ready to be with his wife again. I miss him sitting out with us though and all of the war stories he use to tell.

We are having a relaxing night tonight. Right now, were just watching Love or List it, doing a little laundry and sitting on the couch, enjoying the cool air from the ceiling fan blowing around...

I did, I was able to get it all inside, and I'm glad, I just looked at Intellacast and there's the rain in Ohio/ Pennsylvania, getting ready to head into West Virginia, so sooner or later, I expect that it will make it's way here...

Yes!!! OMG, you are sooo right, the stories.... I love sitting there listening to his stories from the 20-40's.... This may sound goofy, but even though times and life was hard, the people and life seemed more simpler back then, for the most part.

I agree!!! Not nearly as many things to worry about.

My neighbor always talked about the time his house got hit by a tornado. He had 2 guys just come up to him after the storm and said they were looking for work. He hired them both and let them stay with him and his wife while they fixed the house. You would never do that now of days!!!!

It's doing better. Still not completely pain free. Went to the doctor and they said the knee pain and hip pain is because of how I'm walking on the foot. She thinks there is multiple things going on with the foot but isn't sure what all of them are. So she is sending me to an ortho and pulled me off of work until I get seen by them. That's not until the 20 though. So I don't think Walmart is to happy with me.
