Christmas Countdown - 2015

For the first time in years, I brought out my guitar that my wife gave me for Christmas back when we were first engaged. I was never able to go out and get lessons because of everything that was going on, (wedding planning, rent and bills, and so on) I have decided to give it another shot in this day and age of apps and Youtube I should be able to learn something. I was right, I learned more today than all of the previous 15 years combined. I am a little proud of it, and my wife was so happy I was giving it a go.

That's great! I hope you continue to enjoy it! Music can be a great way to relax and let go of things.

I still have the spinet piano my parents bought when I was little. I only play it a couple times each year (Christmas music, mostly!), but I just can't let the piano go, even though I have to pay to have it tuned each year to keep it "healthy." I played a LOT when I was in high school, though.

Yep, we are. It will be a very comfortable sleeping night with temps in the 50's.
Glad nothing happened in your neck of the state, I saw the watches were in effect in your county earlier today. I thought of you first thing when I saw the watches issued.

Thank you for YOUR concern! It looked awfully threatening a few times, but nothing came of it. I thought I glimpsed some orange sky, too, out the window about 7:45.

The weirdest sky I ever saw was when I was in the third grade. The sky turned a really ugly shade of green just before a violent storm cut loose.

Just checking in, we have already had a quick moving thunderstorm pass through earlier and then the temp shot up into the 90's. We are now in a tornado watch until 11pm tonight, the school was having meetings for teachers and they sent everyone home because of the forecast, no fooling around here anymore.

I will check in later on, hoping it stays a watch and doesn't change to a warning.

Hey, friends! Hope thing are going good. Been a few days since i checked in, but I've been playing Daddy with two. Whew! Busy busy!

Things are going great. At work, we are getting ready for the school year to start and it is going to be here before we know it. Although there is just still several weeks, there is a lot to do. Things are rough at work...there is a few issues I could use some prayers on if you don't mind.

Doc and I was talking earlier about Christmas shows coming on next week. I'm ready to watch some. We are going to look at the schedule later, so there will be a little Christmas at our house tonight! Yippee!


Computer friends- I have an iPhone 6 plus. Last year, I couldn't upload to the Blossoms thread and it was a real bummer. Is there a trick that I'm not doing?

Praying everyone stays safe!

I was up until after 5 a.m. before I heard from my brother ~ he had to work several hours over and that was why the delay. Only heavy rain out where he works and by where the relatives live south of here. Thank God! The tornado that went through near the store was an F2. It traveled over 11 miles and went down both roads that I take to the store.

Chores are waiting as is some work for the store so I will bid all of you a MERRY night!

Happy Pines day all. Sorry I've been gone a while. Our son is home from college for the summer so countdowns just remind me of how soon he will be leaving again.

Nothing new here. Just hot weather. We are looking forward to vacation. Our son is a history nerd and is majoring in history. Lord willing, we will be in Philadelphia for July the 4th then driving up to Boston for 5 days to visit all the revolutionary war sites. In a prior career, I've worked a lot in those cities but never visited as a tourist.

Enjoy your history trip! I've always wanted to go see the Liberty Bell. And although I live not too far from Boston, I've never done the Freedom Trail, but I'd like to sometime. I HAVE been to Concord to see the "rude bridge that arched the flood ... where once the embattled farmers stood ... and fired the shot heard 'round the world." There's a special feeling about standing on or near a spot where a historic event occurred.

After yesterday's cruddy weather, today is a model summer day. When I stepped out of the car at my workplace, I really didn't want to go in the building ... I was tempted to just get back in the car and run free today! Oh, well, back to the real world!

You picked a good week. Forecast is for cooler, less humid weather. Hope they are right. We drove over to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge last Saturday. Since it was Fathers Day weekend, they let me visit "The Incredible Christmas Place" without complaining. Guess you will be visiting it next week.

Looks like the storms have passed us by. We had a tornado watch for a few hours and a couple of brief downpours, but not even a rumble of thunder, thank goodness. Xmas, I think you guys are out of the woods too for tonight.

All warnings and watches are done for the night. We had quite a doozy of a t-storm come rocking through here around 730pm. It turned the sky a strange color of orange, and the lightning was bright and often, but at least there was no tornado activity.

I was able to play some catch with JP before all the weather went wild, he is so excited for tomorrow's game.

And those same figures reveal to us that as of THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, we will be at the half-way point to Christmas Day 2015, incredible though that may be to believe.


Alright Mother Nature. Enough is enough.
It seems like we have already had enough heat and humidity for a full Summer.
How about backing off for a bit?
(Or is it too risky to chide Mother Nature?)

Good Morning, MMC!!! It's a beautiful morning here with a temp of 62 and no humidity!! We are still going to hit the mid 80's later but at least it's nice out now. Good morning MMC! Happy Hump/Pines Day!!! Hope you are all having a great day so far!

Last night I think our whole neighborhood was outside, trimming, pulling weeds, mulching - making our homes look nice for the festival! :smile: By the time my hubby got home from work I had a trash can full of weeds & trimmings for him to take away! He was thrilled. cheesy We were talking to our back yard neighbor around 10:00 last night when they started fogging for bugs at the fest! It was starting to stink so bad, we went inside! I don't like to breath that stuff in! Blah! But Jim commented that the best part about that is the wind was blowing our way so hopefully it got rid of some bugs/mosquitos at our house too! They will fog again tomorrow night!

The festivities kick off tonight with a pre-party at our house! We have invited some friends & neighbors over. It's supposed to be a nice night, though it could get cool later. Jim is having the propane tank filled today so we can fire up the patio heater if needed! Tomorrow night the pre-party is at our back yard neighbors....then Friday the festival actually begins! Such a fun week!!
