Love the sound of decorating through a thunderstorm. Must feel cosy! However not fun for Maggie and hope the girls get home safely and the weather isn't disruptive. Maybe you will sleep better tonight with the sound of the rain and as the weather is cooler .

Good evening, friends! Started my 3 day weekend today! We're celebrating by making pizza, wings, and chicken dip for the Steelers game tonight. I hope they pound Tom Brady in to the ground!

What's new with all of you? Hope all is well with all of you guys! I continue to think of all of you daily! It was only in the 60s here today and felt so great! I've been drinking pumpkin spice lattes the pas couple days and I am hoping to get some baking in this weekend!

Hey everyone!

After a very busy year so far, I'm back in the Christmas Spirit.

We moved in our brand new flat at the end of July in a new "village" which belongs to the conurbation of the City Lucerne/Zug. Now we are slowly getting used to the new place. While it is very close to two bigger cities, it is still very green and "out in the Country".

Anyway it is great to be in a place that is so much bigger than the old flat and everything is new and shiny. My parents were able to buy the flat (with the help of a early inheritance) and If god is mercyful they never have to move out of it again. There are Elevators in the building and everything is suitable for possible disability.

I don't know what candy corn is, but I really don't like fruit cake. At least if fruit cake is made of tried fruits like raisin.

The weather in my "North Enough to be Purfect" neck of the woods has been a bit warmer than usual, but we've had hotter temps and colder ones over the years so I haven't complained. We have extremely cold and long winters so we don't complain about the heat too much.

Candy corn is a popular treat usually found around Halloween that is yellow, orange and white in colour and resembles a kernel of corn and a space shuttle. It's mostly made up of sugar, corn syrpup and some sort of gelatin wax. (Not my cup of tea.)
Fruitcake is as you described it with dried fruit although it doesn't always contain raisins around here - I've tried 2 popular varieties and homemade ones and never enjoyed it.

Congratulations on your new accomodations; have you mapped out where you're going to display your Christmas tree yet when the time comes

Good evening everyone. We had heavy rain today that caused flooding across the island. Flash floods caused drivers to abandon their cars all over the south shore, which is where I'm located. My husband and the girls all made it home safely. My poor husband had to work in the city today and it took him almost 4 hours to get there this morning and over three to get home this evening. More rain is expected tonight but it will be clearing out tomorrow. Temperatures will be a bit cooler the next couple of days too so that's good. I'm going to turn in, I'm very tired tonight. I had another lazy afternoon yesterday. I have to stop doing that! I might get used to it!

That. Is. Amazing. Wiki says it was named that as a publicity stunt back in the 1800's. Oh my!

We have a lake close to us named Webster Lake but they still use the old Nipmuc Indian name which is:

In Webster, MA, we have Lake Chaubunagungamaug. (But we call it Lake Webster.)
Tradition says it's Native American for "you fish on your side; I fish on my side; nobody fishes in the middle."

Candy corn is a chewy candy that is colored to look like Indian corn. It's awfully sweet, and some folks can't stand it.

An almanac is a publication that farmers used to use to help them in planting, harvesting, animal husbandry, etc. It is published annually for local conditions, and provides information on sunrise, sunset, moon-rise, moon-set, eclipses, other celestial events, holidays, religious feast days, weather, etc., usually based on a calendar format. Actually, it's pretty hard to describe! Almanacs these days provide the same sort of info, but add articles and recipes and other items of modern-day interest. Almanacs are usually published in the autumn and often predict the weather trends for the coming winter. Then the news services pick up the predictions and make a big deal out of them!
