Christmas Countdown - 2016

So I'm waiting for a plumber to come and fix our toilet. It keeps "running" and the tank won't fill back up. Hubby can fix a lot of things but this is a really old model that he's never seen before so we've called a Professional.

While waiting, I've baked two desserts for a strawberry-themed bake sale at work:
- a strawberry oatmeal bar, which for some reason didn't hold its shape, so I'm calling it a crumble
- and chocolate cupcakes with chocolate-covered strawberries on top (picture below)


I have the weekend off, we'll be shopping for a new couch and watching movies while it rains both days. I'm working the afternoon/evening shift today, that is if the plumber comes soon enough. Have a great Friday everyone!

Good evening,

We spent the day getting the house ready for my sisters visit, we are still awaiting her arrival. She left Charlotte, NC at 5 this morning. It is a long drive, we did it 12 years ago and it took 17 hours.
We watched Krampus this afternoon, JP has wanted to see it and he loved it. A little Christmas in July movie for us. I just saw "The Night Before" is now on Starz, I may watch that because it is a Christmas themed movie.
My sister made it to my aunt's house, she is done driving for the night, just happy she is safe.

I just got some happy news after getting home from my evening shift: the dog we found a couple of weeks ago was adopted! I kept checking their website, he wasn't claimed so I was worried but he was put up for adoption and the website indicates that he was adopted today. I'm just sp happy I'm actually shedding a few tears right now.

Plumber was sure busy, called him around 8:30am but he only came around 1:50pm. He changed the whole valve, ours was such an old model. It cost 195$ but at least we have a working toilet now. So I got to work only around 3pm, a short work day. My strawberry desserts sold fast. Someone made a shortcake but it was all gone by the time I arrived. Now I'm decompressing before going to bed.
