Good morning and Happy Columbus Day to you Crown. I am so relieved (as I am sure many are) that Matthew has passed. 54 degrees here currently with a high expected in the upper-60s to low-70s.
Enjoy your Monday and the rest of the week.

Me too! Love the pic! Enjoy your week, too.

Good Monday morning, Christmas friends!

When I got up Saturday morning, I had no idea the extent of damage our community suffered. We had power, but apparently the block we live in was the only spot of electricity in our county. Electricity was available 45 miles west of us, but nothing any closer to the coast.

There are huge trees down across roads, highways, power lines, cars, houses...it's such a mess. I'm thanking the Lord that we had minimal damage at home. Some big tree limbs down, some damage to the house, but that's about all. Across the street, trees are down, crushing storage buildings, and falling on at least one house.

I worked at Bernie's store Saturday (it's across the street and still had power), helping him serve the HUNDREDS of people flocking there for gas, water, ice, everything. Someone posted on Facebook that he was still open (and I shared it LOL), and he got slammed. All the gas sold, water, meat, bread. We made at least 250 pizzas for people who couldn't cook. It was crazy!

I worked yesterday getting generators for mom, to keep here freezers running, and getting her a lamp and the TV working. She and my brother have been coming to the house for showers.

Our pastor had come to our area to help with cleanup. He was in his truck with a generator to loan, chain saws, etc. He was rear-ended trying to get to the church, and ended up with a broken nose, his son had a dislocated shoulder. It's just a shame. People out driving, looking at all the damage instead of at the road.

I can tell you, we live in a rural area where guys hunt & fish all the time, and we're still not prepared for lack of power and phone. I've never really been much of a "prepper" before, but this has given me cause to look more closely at getting prepared for the next one. Whew!

Power is slowly being restored around our area, and of course they got power back on here at work LOL, so here I am. I appreciate all the prayers for folks in the path of the hurricane.

Now that the storm is gone, the weather is perfect!! Sunny and 50°F this morning!

I hope y'all have a great day! :D
Sorry to hear that your area is going through so much trouble. I'm happy that you had minimal damage to deal with. And very happy that the hurricane is over and done with. I hope the cleanup and power restoration go quickly.

Morning NcGunny. a Happy Columbus Day to you. Just a guess, but I suppose if old Christopher had not kind of started the exploration and eventual migration from Europe to the Western hemisphere, none of us would be here right now... :)
I'm guessing the Vikings did not like what they saw, because they did not stay... lol.
Have a fun day and week.View attachment 31679
I have also heard that Columbus Day was at least partially intended as a celebration of Italian culture---much as St. Patrick's Day is both a saint's feast day and a celebration of Irish culture. Holidays can have so many layers and so much history!

Happy Columbus Day and/or happy Thanksgiving, depending on what you're celebrating today!

The weather is mostly three B's today: bright, beautiful, and breezy. I have some things on my to-do list today, but I'm being darned slow about getting started ... just enjoying a leisurely morning. I tried calling my doctor's office to schedule a flu shot, and heard something I haven't heard in years: a busy signal! And their website is down for maintenance. So that will have to wait until another day.

Time to take another look at that to-do list. No, wait ... I haven't had any tea yet ... :D

Happy columbus day! I finally went out and got Carolina's birthday shopping done. Now I just have to send out the invitations for her friend party. I hope everyone has a great rest of the day. I'll be heading into work at 2 and Carolina will go to my cousins until my mom gets done school. This year she gets Yom Kippur off insta of Columbus day

Been thinking of you guys over weekend as we watched the news and they mentioned Savannah,Georgia. Prayers are with you and your community. I hope you all recover to comfortable levels soon. Must be so tough. Take good care.

Merry Monday and Happy New Week to all.

Hope you all are enjoying Columbus Day over in the states and Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends.

Beautiful day here. We are enjoying a spell of dry weather. We have only had the odd shower through the night here and there. I could get used to this :)

Have a great day!

Praying for you guys, your community, and all affected by the hurricane. Especially your pastor & his son.
So glad you stayed safe and had only minimal damage at home.
Bless you for helping so many in need on Saturday.
Thinking of you all~God bless.

Good morning ~
Happy Monday!
Just took Maggie for a walk. It's going to be a beautiful day, sunny with temperatures in the upper 50's. Not too much going on here, just a typical day of errands and chores.
I hope everyone is well and has a great week ahead!

Happy Columbus Day to all our MMC family, those I have already posted to and those who I hope to get to later. Today is my forth day off (took two vacation days on Friday & Saturday), so I guess there is no good reason why I should not get a few things done around here.
We did not make it to the zoo, but Connie is feeling much better and since it is her birthday, she is sleeping in and I will depart shortly for the errands need to finish the days chores. We are going to a friend's home for this evening. Pizza and cake are on the menu and I will add a couple of treats of my own.
I send my best wishes to you all for a great day and week. Enjoy and don't forget to stop and smell the... BBQ!
Here are the events for today...

It sounds like Carolina's birthday prep is going great!
Hope your work day goes well~
Have a wonderful day!

Columbus got lost when he found America...I mean I get lost every day driving around and nobody names a holiday after me :).
OK, so, in theory, there's an Edge612 day. Then all the other Edges (611, 613, 614, etc.) feel left out. To remedy same we have national Edge Day. The next thing you know snowflake 22 needs her day. (She certainly deserves one for all her efforts.) Here we go again with identical problems. There would be a seemingly never ending trail of petitions for additional holidays. Ultimately nothing gets done. The toys don't get made, millions of children are emotionally crushed, and the spirit of Christmas gets kaboshed....Given you don't want to be responsible for that mess, let's leave the holidays right where they are...For now.

Well when you put it that way...I never thought of all of that!

Hi everyone .. woke up this morning to the house being at 60 degrees. had to turn the heaters on for the first time just to take the chill out of the air. Suppose to warm up this week so I wont see the need for the heater to much this week.

Snowflake thanks again for that recipe. Made it yesterday and it turned out fantastic. Definitely a keeper!!!

Got to work on the outside Halloween decoration tonight after work. The wind we had yesterday and last night was terrible and made a mess. Some of the inflatables got tangled up in their anchor lines and our blow mold pumpkins were being blown around. Hopefully everything still works.
