Awe!! So sorry to hear about Nitro!! Praying he has a much better day today & gets to come home quick. It's amazing how much we miss them when they aren't there. Even if it's only a few minutes like at lunch after I drop Gracie off at the groomer - weird to not have her there! I'll be thinking of you guys! Have a good day!
Thanks Holiday! Yeah we do miss our dogs. My brother should text with an update on him later today.

Thanks Sean! I'm NOT looking forward to running in the bitter cold this weekend...but I'm still gonna do it.

My calf still isn't 100%, but I did find an alternative that will give me the same type of workout. Skating/hockey doesn't affect my calf and I love doing it. My daughter wants to play hockey for the girls high school team so I have to catch her up with her skating, so it's a double win for me.

It's difficult when doctors don't agree on diagnoses. Like you, I would go with the cardiologist. A specialist usually knows his game!

Praying for your mom, your SIL, and you & your family.
I agree! I was relieved (and surprised) when the cardiologist said bronchitis last night. She's not out of the woods, but hopefully if they are treating her for the right thing now, we'll start to see improvement! Thanks! :)

Good morning!
Just a quick hello. I'm heading out soon, Maggie has a groomer appointment. I'm going to run a couple of errands while she's there. Back home afterward to catch up with my chores. My daughter also has a doctor appointment today. I'll pop back in when I can.
I hope everyone is well and has a nice day. Hugs & prayers for all.

Praying all appointments go well today!! I'll want to see a pic of the little sweetie after her grooming apt! ;) Have a good day!

Well that's good you found something that you enjoy and won't hurt your calf. I never really did try skating. Have fun with your daughter!

Good Thursday Morning MMC! Believe it or not Nitro had to stay overnight at the hospital. He went in to be checked on a few minor issues he's had and wound up having a seizure at the Dr. They said it could be he was due to being there and he was upset/nervous. He hasn't had a seizure in 2 months so what's the odds he suddenly had one when he arrived there? Anyway they calmed him down but he got a little touch of pneumonia from it. He had that before too after a seizure. His breathing wasn't 100% so they wanted to keep him on oxygen to help him hopefully breathe better in the next day or 2 so that he can come home. Dr. said we could bring him home yesterday (he was already doing better) but it was safer to keep him on the oxygen for a day or 2 (hopefully). I miss him lol. Telling you we are major dog people on MMC. I could never move anywhere where they won't allow me to have a dog in my lifetime. Other than that I hope Harlowe does better today snowflake. I hope everyone at MMC has a good Thursday. I hope those of us bracing for the bitter cold are prepared. And above all I hope we make it to Friday so we can get excited for our weekend!
Hope everyone at MMC is well today!
I am so sorry to hear Nitro isn't well. I sure hope he can be home soon and back with you. He is such a cute dog and suits his name so much. Prayers for him. Hang in there. Keep us posted. Please post a pic of him soon. I'd love to see that sweetie pie again.

We were talking gas prices the other day - my boss just said gas is $1.14 at a station about 15 mile from here. WOW!

Good morning MMC! Happy, Happy Friday Eve! TGIFE!!! :)

Thanks everyone for all the prayers for mom, SIL & sis. SIL is home with help from Visiting Angels. Mom is in ICU. My sis was there already this morning & says she is maybe a teeny bit better. She had a sleepless night again b/c of all the coughing. Poor thing. Emergency room doc says this is caused from heart failure, not pneumonia - heart pumping so fast, but not hard enough to remove fluid from the lungs, so he did not put her on any antibiotics. Cardiologist was in later last night - he says it's bronchitis & the illness brought on a-fib. We are going with the cardiologist diagnosis! Bronchitis sounds better than heart failure to me! He ordered a breathing treatment & started her on IV antibiotics. He was in again this morning - recommends steroids through IV or in breathing treatment, but that will be her family docs call. Hopefully family doc is making rounds early this am!! xx And hopefully she improves today!!! xx Thanks again. Really appreciate all the thoughts & prayers!!

Have a Fantastic Friday Eve my friends!!!

I am glad to hear from you. Been thinking of you. Continued prayers for all of you. Keep us posted.

Good Thursday morning, my Christmas friends!

It's crisp & cold this morning. I ground a fresh bag of coffee to bring to work, and, I'm telling you, it's hard to beat!

There are many concerns here on MMC lately, and I'm praying for all of you. I'd appreciate continued prayers for my brother's health. He's too stubborn to take care of himself properly.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

I get teased about it too. The wallpaper on my iPhone is a picture of Molly & Maggie, I've received a lot of flak for that as well!

LOL...add me to the list too!

Me, too <3
I was crying happy tears when I read that text.
She was happy to see me- Not her usual excited greeting but she was waiting for me at the door and I got a tail wag, that's progress.
She hadn't eaten anything else, but she was interested in going outside. She typically loves to go outside, and go for her walks too, but hasn't been interested in either since Saturday-until today. She actually came to me and let me put her leash on. I thought, I'll let her lead me. I figured she'd just go to the end of the driveway, but she continued into the street and towards the rest of the neighborhood. We actually went the whole way around, we were much slower but again I shed a happy tear. I'm sure it was good for her to get out of the house, and get some sunshine.
Fingers crossed that she has an appetite tonight!

So happy to read this update...continued prayers for you all and Happy Thursday!

1 week ago, my wife delivered a baby girl, 8 pounds and 10 ounces. Her name is Mary, named after my Grandmother. Here's a picture of her from her new born photoshoot.

She is my heart. I have never been this happy.

I'm a shoe collector (140 pairs), so my wife thought it would be a cute picture. I agree. :)

How adorable...she is beautiful! Congratulations!

Good evening,

I had a very busy day off, we bought a snowblower online and I went to pick it up at the store, I got it home did everything I was supposed to to get it running. I started it and it was working great. It stopped working, and wouldn't start again.. I brought it back and exchanged it, it worked out, the same model in the store was $100 less. So I got the snowblower, and the money back. I just wanted a working snowblower. I got the second one home and it worked beautifully. Oh yeah, it snowed today.
I ran around and did a lot of other things, I am still behind, looks like tomorrow will catch up day, again.

Goodnight, everyone.
Have a great day xmas...great job w/ the snowblower!

Good morning!

Praying for all!

It is a cold one here today, and it is only going to get colder. Ugh!

While I was working yesterday I heard what sounded like chainsaws running. Figured there was a tree down/about to come down along the road close by that would be a danger so it was being taken care of right away. Turns out that one of my neighbors plowed the driveway! I have no idea who did it, but I thank them so much!!! Such a lovely surprise. :)

Roads are still icy. Apparently all the county did is plow, no salt, solution or sand has been put down, at least in the areas I have heard about. My road was scraped down to the pavement, but there are still several isolated icy spots. Hope the salt trucks are out and about today!

The only damage I have seen around the yard is one pine tree branch down. There are heavy clumps of wet snow on most trees ~ might be a lot more damage before all is said and done.

About to start work, so I will bid all of you a safe and merry day.
Have a great day...stay warm and safe on those roads!

Happy Friday Eve! Not up too much today...just working and I am going out to dinner w/ a couple of Moms tonight at this Irish bar. It is fundraiser for my daughter's middle school. Have a great day!! Almost to the weekend!

Greetings all! I am so behind on posts. Everything is a mad house around here and it's left me no time to even read through things.

I was able to ready through the past several pages and my heart just broke for some of you over the past week's events. I am so sorry about the storms, dogs' health issues, car accidents.... my goodness. :( I will be praying for everyone!

Last Friday, my closest friend texted me, "How do you know when it's time to help your dog cross over?" It just made me ill. They have two dogs, Rowan a German Shepherd and Piper, a Wire Haired terrier. I remembered the day they adopted them both at the shelter years ago. At the time Rowan was only 7 months old. It's been 12 years since then. I texted back, "Whyyyy...... who?"

She then explained everything going on with Rowan. I made a couple of suggestions to help her be more comfortable, which did work quite well to help stop her pain and listless, wobbly behavior. Then she emailed me Monday morning and said, "I just wanted to let you know that Rowan passed away very peacefully in her sleep last night curled up on her bed next to my side of the bed." :( I'm so glad she was not in any pain, but it's just the worst part of having fur companions. No matter what you do - they just have a shorter life span than we do.

On our side of things - also on Friday evening, while walking Moose, our Shepherd-Lab mix, I noticed a dark bloody spot on his testicles. Sorry - but that's where it was. It was dark out out so when I got back in, I had to check things out to which I got the Steve Martin reaction from Father of the Bride 2 when he takes a sleeping pill to relax and his daughter goes into labor. When he's disoriented at the hospital and is taken into an exam room where the nurse starts an unpleasant check mistaking him for another patient, he comes darting out of the room exclaiming, "DO I KNOW YOU!? I DON'T THINK SO!" Moose was not happy with me.

I rinsed the area and used a topical gel ointment, but at that time, it's didn't look THAT bad. Sort of a circular puncture. He had been playing with Sadie earlier and occasionally she does this thing where she lays on her back underneath him and pushes him up away from her, sort of looks like she's bench pressing. LOL It's the only thing I can come up with as to what caused the cut/tear. He never cried, yelped, nothing. They don't go outside without supervision, ever. We have too many strays, raccoon, fox, coyote and alligators on the property for me to be comfortable with it. We have a fenced area for them to run and play in (they're big dogs, they need it), but other things can get in too, so - outside play time is with one of us always.

Saturday late afternoon, he was walking past me and it was sooooo much worse. Not sure what caused it, but it was awful. I flipped out and asked Bud to call Derrik. Derrik is one of our closest friends and thankfully, one of the best veterinarians in our county. I was so worried he would need stitches in this delicate area. Derrik asked us to send pictures.

So.... let me ask you - have you ever tried to hold down a huge, young, strong male dog against his will on a very tall, four poster, king size bed, while your spouse tries to take pictures and video of the dog's private region?

Yeah, that was my first go round with that even too. It looked like something that should have been a slap-stick performance in an old National Lampoon movie. Especially because this dog - he has been hand raised in this house. Born in this house, bottle fed by us, because his mother couldn't produce milk, travels with us, is adored, and lives where the concept of having to fight for anything is entirely foreign to him. He has no comprehension that people can be cruel, food can be scarce or that some dogs never get to sleep on soft cushy things or one would not have a tug, chew or ball at their disposal. He's never been ill and other than occasionally having to remove a tick or get his vaccinations, he's never had anyone try to manhandle him for anything against his will. This dog thought the entire thing was a game.

He has this huge, long, thick swishy tail. If I could figure out a way to spray Pledge on the end and train him, he could dust all the shelves in no time flat. The dog is upside down, on my bed, with his front paws hooked over my bicep and forearm and bathing my face in excited playful licks with his massive tongue, while continually thrashing side to side at the waist trying to see what Bud was doing and his tail is just wagging happily, completely blocking any hope of a camera shot. Bud would catch his tail and hold it down, but Moose would snake it out, and Bud didn't want to hold him too hard as we were concerned it cause the tear to worsen. An hour and a half. It was the weirdest MMA battle ever.

Derrik texted back to put him on a 10-day round of the antibiotics that he had given us (Every few months he'll give us a small bottle of low-level antibiotics to have on hand just-in-case one of the dogs needs them) and gently rinse the area twice a day with clean water. Said stitches would be too invasive and stressful for Moose in that area. If it didn't clear up and heal nicely, it would be easier, faster and kinder to simply neuter him. He did the antibiotics as he felt that trying to wrestle Moose to apply a topical gel several times a day without him wearing one of those cones would be a nightmare and trying to get him to wear the cone would be an equal chore.

So it's now Thursday and the wound looks substantially better. He does not seem the least bit bothered by it at all. Sunday was the only day he paid any attention to it. I personally think that perhaps some infection has started to settle in as whimpered several times while just laying there and was more attentive to it. Thankfully though - everything looks great now. Hope he continues to heal up easily.

I will continue to pray for everyone and hope that your week is greatly improved!

I'm so sorry to hear that, Edge. Poor guy. Lots of prayers being sent up for Nitro.
Please keep us posted. *Hugs* to you.

Thank you for the well wishes, no luck this morning and she didn't eat anything throughout the night either. Trembling again, too. I just don't understand what's going on. You would think the meds would be out of her system by now, why isn't she eating. And when she does, it has to give her a little strength.

Hope you can have a good Friday Eve, thinking of you.
