So how is everyone today? I got a question for our bakers on here .. has anyone made a pumpkin pie using whole milk or heavy cream instead of evaporated milk? Later this month I am thinking about cooking a turkey breast and I want to make a pumpkin pie. I have always made my with evaporated milk but I want to experiment a bit.
Hi Minta,
I am doing pretty well, thanks.
How are you?
I'm afraid I can't answer your question, but hope someone else can help.
Your turkey dinner sounds wonderful!
Have a blessed day~

On the other hand, nothing is better then jumping up thinking you have to get up for work and then checking the clock and realizing you have another hour still till it's time for work.

If I had a dime for every time I've done that, I wouldn't need to play the lottery!:Do_O

HmG, I am so sorry you have a migraine. Praying it goes away fast!

Good morning, MMC!

Break went by fast. I managed to catch up on here in that short amount of time. Yay!

Fell asleep shortly after 8 pm last night and darn if it didn't seem like no time went by when the alarm went off this morning. I am a wee bit tired yet, but have been up since I was supposed to be so I guess that is not an unusual thing to have happen. I can sleep in tomorrow! :jump

A few things to do and then back to work.

Be safe and merry!!!

In winter, I feel like I never have enough sleep. Come summer and the sun starts rising at 3;30am and I can wake up ready to go. The light and change in temps make a huge impact on mood and motivation I think. Plus the cold slows your metabolism down so not your fault at all - these months are for hibernating :D LOL!

Enjoy your lie in tomorrow !!!

Good Afternoon Christmas friends....Well we are nearly through the first week of January already...This year is a special year for our family...My Father -in-law will be 65 this Thursday so a few drams is on the cards tomorrow night...Then the big one in May my wifes granny will be 100...Now thats a excuse to have a merry evening:p

WOW, 100! That's terrific!! A very happy birthday to everyone!!

On February 19th my parents will celebrate their 50th anniversary and I have NO clue what to do for them. My mom hates to travel so giving them a vacation away is out. I thought about a party, but neither of them want that and no - they're not surprise party type people. My perfect gift - pay off their mortgage, but that won't be happening unless I will that lottery you're all talking about. LOL

On February 23, Bud and I celebrate our 20th anniversary. :) It's a pretty cool year in our family. LOL

I know it's a little early to be posting Carl's specials, but I just couldn't keep this to myself.

He's calling it the diet killer bloody Mary.

I'll have one waiting on you Snowflake!!!

*blinks* Tell ya what - someone else can split it with me. They can have the snack sticks. I'll take the drink. ;)

I'm sold. I'm getting a set on eBay!
I thought I'd have a lot of the tracks on other LPs, but I don't. Mr. likes the playlist, too.

Aaaaaaaawwwwwwwww! YEA!!! I'm so glad you liked it and hope it adds to your Christmas line up! :D

Good Morning, Everyone.
Almost Weekend Eve.
"Almost" to our first Milestone of the new year!

Days to the Season: 311
Days to Christmas Day: 353

And if we consider single digits from the day after tomorrow "almost", then we are indeed almost there!
(That Milestone being the 300-day Season marker, of course.)

Well, after two rather chilly days, I'm ready for a warm one and today is in fact supposed to be warmer. We have commenced it at 41 degrees, which isn't a bad start.
No precip predicted, at least.

Hey.
Did any one try Carl's first new year blend yesterday evening?
I saw a couple of folks passed out near the dining room long about midnight.
Not saying it was from Carl's concoction now, but it does give one cause to speculate, doesn't it?

Have a Thrilling Thursday, Friends!

Thank you again Crown! Much appreciated!

Good morning MMC! Happy Friday Eve!!!!

I managed to get the ribs smoked last night. Didn't get to bed til after midnight, but they are smoked! Now, hopefully they taste good. :) Lots to do today ~ I don't have time for this work thing. Ha ha! All the in-laws are coming over for my MIL's birthday at 6:30....I'm smoking a turkey breast after work, as well as making potatoes & a salad. Oh, & a little cleaning too. Ahhhhh... ;)

Have a wonderful day!

Sending you some housecleaning mojo! LOL

Good morning everyone. I'm moving slow today, I just can't shake this migraine. Thankfully there isn't too much going on. I would like to run to Target at some point if I'm feeling up to it. Other than that I'll be working on my daily chores.
My parents were on tv last night, they were interviewed by a news crew when they went to buy their powerball tickets. They were so cute. Can't believe no one won again, I heard the jackpot is going up to 675 million!!!
Hope everyone is well and has a nice day ♥

HMG - I'm so sorry about your migraine - hope it passes very soon.

Funny about your parents! Would be so exciting even if they won a portion of it! My dad has played the Florida lottery ever since it started in 1988. LOL He won a few times with 4 out 6 numbers. Several thousand dollars - that was great!!

I ended up on ABC Action News on Christmas Eve. I was out doing some shopping. They were at the shopping center interviewing, "last-minute shoppers." LOL The reporter asked me, "How did you end up being a last minute shopper this year for Christmas?" I laughed, looked at my watch and said, "It's not 11:59pm. Besides, 'last-minute,' is a mindset. Christmas is when you celebrate it, it doesn't have to be the 25th. I love every moment of Christmas. The excitement leading up to it and that last few harried moments before everyone opens their presents. This isn't some frenzied last-minute dash to me. It's just part of the fun and memories I make with my family."

I think so too. We got him 10 years ago. He was 6 months old and they called him Hercules as a joke I guess because he's small. We came up with Nitro and he seemed to like it.

Here are some photos of our winter wonderland ❤️

OH MY!! How beautiful!! I'm so jealous and yes please - can you send me some too? LOL

Good Thursday morning, my Christmas friends!

It was a quiet evening yesterday. The kids went to their youth group at church, and Nancy & I vegged out on Netflix. Lulu even slept most of the evening. She finally destroyed the stuffed animals she got for Christmas, so she's bored again. LOL

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

That sounds like a great evening!!!

Our one dog did the same to the one plushy toy that was given. All the rest were balls or Nylabone type chews that take them forever to kill. I learned last year that one of our rescue dogs loves to destroy anything stuffed, furry or soft. LOL I actually have toys for the other dogs that they take turns playing with in my room away from her. She gets a special chew toy that only comes out when one of them goes in to play with a plushy so she's not inclined the stand and cry at the door. She thinks SHE'S the one getting special treatment. I took the others away so she can lay upside down on the floor, hold it between her front paws and chew without being bothered by everyone else. LOL Her nickname is "Godzilla."

This day and age ... to need a course to deal with raging customers. It's best to be prepared, though. You never know who's going to walk through the door.

My question is - was it a course in dealing with customers who are angry, or for you dealing with your own moments of customer rage? Like 'Road rage." Sometimes I am mystified by the level of restraint and calm some people are expected to demonstrate while someone is screaming at them about something ridiculous, just because the screamer is a 'customer.'

I watched a manager at Save A Lot smile patiently while some outraged woman screamed in his face because they were sold out of eggs on Christmas Eve. Because that's surprising? He just smiled and nodded and told her he was very sorry for the inconvenience and he would be happy to give her a rain check for the egg price, but another truck wouldn't be in till December 26th. She just kept yelling and yelling. He kept smiling and nodding. I thought, "Wow - I would have stabbed her with a stick of butter by now."

Wow !
Boy those trees would look great with lights on ...

ROFL I thought the exact same thing!!!

*See above Godzilla reference to our dog* I'll have to remember this one and film her next time she decimates a shoe, or plushy toy. I'll wind it back and realize she actually made it and then loped backwards.

Later this month I am thinking about cooking a turkey breast and I want to make a pumpkin pie. I have always made my with evaporated milk but I want to experiment a bit.

Minta - I have and I found that mixing them half and half gave me the best consistency and flavor. Milk was too thin and lacked some of the flavor we traditionally associate with pumpkin pie. Heavy cream alone was too sweet in my opinion and caused the filling to sort of 'fluff up,' when baked making the consistency odd.

Day 8476
........................still raining.......................

Hahahahahha!!

Yes same here.
Just saw the forecast and yes more rain along with an arctic blast, sub zero temps and possible snow.

Actually snow predicted your way tomorrow!
Good grief! Stay dry, warm, and safe, you two. And anyone else suffering through your miserable weather.

If it gets the roads open (and the council will move heaven and earth to get the roads to the slopes clear) I'll take it!! Today, we have been an island. All roads in and out of town were flooded - even the buses couldn't detour anymore. SO.SICK.OF.RAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gosh that is terrible.
I am expecting to see Noah pulling up with the Ark soon at this rate!
