Good morning, everyone!
Happy Labour Day! It's the first full week of September and it appears that the temperature believes it is still in full summer mode. Temperatures today are to reach 29c/84f or 32c/90f with humidex. It looks like each day should be in the 90s this week, with the exception of Friday when we return to slightly above average temperatures.
Despite it being al long weekend, I did not get up to much. Most of my friends are out at their cottages and enjoying themselves. Once again, it is disappointing when your cottage is about nine hours away. If only I could bring it closer somehow...
The highlight of my weekend, actually came on Saturday night. I met some distant relatives, which was incredibly fun. About eight years ago, I connected with the wife of my dad's third cousin on Facebook. Anyway, their son is going to my alma matter, Carleton University, this fall. They all moved him into Carleton yesterday. They also invited me to dinner on Saturday. It was a pretty neat experience. We're all only third cousins (once removed, technically with his son and daughter), but there was plenty of family resemblance! For those wondering how it works, Doug is my dad's second cousin, and his grandfather and my great-grandfather were brothers. Funny how these things can work out.
Oh, I also ran a 5km race this weekend. My first in about 13 years. That was enjoyable, too.
Costco has increased its Christmas decor in the past week or so. Kim and I were in yesterday and surprised that they have more than doubled their efforts. I took some photos and will post them shortly.
I hope you all have been enjoying your Labo(u)r Day weekend! And, of course, I am sure that the first five days of this "ber" month have been treating you quite well!
