Christmas Countdown - 2016

Good Saturday Morning MMC! Happy OCTOBER! I think every month that begins we always say "how is it already another month." I have to say I loved September and how it really transitioned from summer to autumn. I know if you're just a Christmas fanatic you still feel we have a little ways to go to get to the Christmas season but if you're a Halloween fan like many of us are it's exciting to be in the month of Halloween!

Howdy Edge. Good to see you up and chipper on this first weekend of October. I'll be the first to admit I'm not as huge a Halloween fan, but only due to the "lack of innocence" that surrounds it today, versus the time I was growing up. Even though I was in an Los Angeles suburb, we never worried about going out, which houses to avoid or what was in our treats. I truly miss that for today's generations. Which is why I love our local Zoo that does three days of "Zoo Boo" (28th - 30th) and yes I will be there to help out. A nice safe environment for the kids and their parents.

Good Saturday morning! So glad to have a 3-day weekend. Yesterday we held an apple-themed food sale at work and it was a big success and everything was sooooo delicious. But no more work for 3 days! This morning we have errands to run. They announce rain and clouds all weekend, perfect weather for movies. Hope everyone will have a fantastic weekend!

Good morning! It still looks dreary here. I think we will just be relaxing today. Tomorrow is the pumpkin fest in the town next to ours. Mike will probably take Carolina with his parents while I am at work. Have a great day everyone

Good morning NMC. Sorry to hear you will be working instead of the pumpkin fest, but I am also familiar with working on both weekends and holidays from the 23+ years in the military. Never makes it truly easy though. Enjoy the remainder of this first weekend of October.

Thanks. Yeah I know what you mean but I still think thee is some innocence to the holiday. Seeing a lot of kids still go trick or treating and such...but it's definitely changed a little since we were kids.

Friends, what a beautiful week it has been. Currently, we sit at 52 degrees and I sit on the deck drinking coffee. I love hoodie weather. Can't beat it.

Going to be a great day today! I'm in the process of getting all of the lights down and checking bulbs, making some fixes to outside decorations, and things like that. In two weeks, I will put the lights up on the house. Always like to get it done before Halloween...things usually start to get wet or cold here during November. There are tons of little signs popping up! We have the first 'Ber down and now we are into the one where the celebrations start. We are debating on what to be for halloween. Doc says they need to be "Thing 1" and "Thing 2", but I don't know about that....do yall have any suggestions for how to dress up 1 and 3 year old for Halloween? I could use some suggestions!

Anyone bought their first Christmas gift, yet? I actually have bought 3! Got the wifey a shirt the other day....it was a cute little shirt that said Mommin' ain't easy....

Alright...I wanna go check out the rest of the boards and then I need to go buy groceries. See yall later!

Morning Ballcoach. I am the same here in SD. I always make sure the roof lights are good to go by mid-Oct (especially since I have a split-level home). Got two presents ready, but waiting on a "list" for the Grandkids. I always have a tree up all year. The rest of the inside decorations are beginning to appear. The main trees (yes, more than one or two) will be up NLT the weekend after Thanksgiving.

As I've said through out the years, it feels as though my inner christmas alarm clock goes off on the 01st of October ! I wake up knowing it is the 01st and can almost hear the sleigh bells. I think of it as the pre season to the season. It's a personal milestone.

It is the start of everything that we love so much about this time of year. The leaves are turning and falling. Pumpkins are arriving. The wind is fragrant with autumn's scent and brooding with a haunting eeriness as Halloween takes centre stage. Slowly Christmas starts casting it's spell.

Wishing each of you a happy October and build up to all the festivities to follow.

I finally feel like it's fall here-we had quite the warm September! The leaves are barely even changed. Looking forward to a great October-we're pulling all the Halloween specific decor out today!
