Christmas Countdown - 2016

Happy Friday!!! Kids went back to school today. My daughter still wasn't 100% but was close enough besides the high school homecoming football game is tonight and she wants to go. No school no football game. The high school has their pep rally this afternoon so she wont have as many classes today. She is not going to the homecoming dance so instead we are having a bonfire outside tomorrow night and the kids have invited several of their friends. The weather will be perfect, now just to make a bunch of snack foods

Carolina got her flu shot today so all of a sudden her arm doesn't work, other than that it went well. have a great day

I hope you mean she's favoring that arm! My Elizabeth was always dramatic when she got shots.

No problem, once I saw Target had a special edition I knew that was the one to get.

It's not in stock at our local store, so I ordered it online. I should be getting mine in about a week!

We were wondering that the other night here. The 1970s were the golden age of variety shows: Dean Martin, Donny & Marie, Sonny & Cher, The Captain & Tenille, Carol Burnett, Flip Wilson, and others that featured music and comedy sketches (even Hee Haw) ... same format that most of the Christmas variety specials followed. They're long gone, except for video; dead as vaudeville. It's a darn shame.

I guess the ultimate answer is: There are no more Bing Crosbys or Perry Comos or Andy Willams'.

Michael Buble has a bit of that old-timely feel about him and he's done some Christmas specials, though quite different in style. I wish he'd do more Christmas cds and bring back some of those older traditions.

Changing tastes, I guess. The variety show format no longer interests most people.

Not meaning to offend anyone, but to me, most of the singers nowadays just seem to yell, scream or wail.
I don't even like the way most performers do the national anthem any more.

Christmas songs lend themselves more to the soft, crooner style which is just about extinct.
I saw a thin ray of hope with Buble, but his last Christmas show was a bit of a disappointment to me.
