Has anyone started a thread for Christmas commercials 2016 ?? I can't seem to find one but I have probably missed it. I always look forward to it every year. I have now seen 3 ads here since yesterday. None of the big ones yet though.
I haven't seen anything, but I haven't had much of a chance to look around the forums lately. This new software... (LOL - no, it's really not too bad, just a learning process! :))

Me too! I also saw a Hop In a Honda Holiday Sales event. I think those are popular every year now, too. I can't wait until the classics come on as well!
Agree!!!

Good morning, everyone!

It's a beautiful above seasonal morning in Ottawa. Temperatures are currently a balmy 13c! We're expected to reach about 15c this afternoon. Beautiful! It's a perfect way to celebrate the first Wednesday of November, and, of course, 'Pines Day!

I wanted to go for a run yesterday, but I could not bring myself to do it. I arrived home from teaching at about 4:30 and was fast asleep in a nap by 4:45... Kim woke me up at 6pm to tell me to put something on for supper. I really needed that nap!

As for today, I'm refreshed, and it's a good thing, too. I'm at Russell, but with the intermediate students. They can really push your patience sometimes. Luckily, the tough(er) classes have already ended and I have the same good group for the rest of the day. I don't think there is much better than having a really great and impressionable Grade 8 class. It can be the most difficult age to teach, but also the most rewarding if you have the right group.

No real plans for the rest of the day. I know that I have to go to the gym after school, and hopefully I can go for a run after that, too! I really need to get back into running while the weather is decent in order to push myself with running throughout the winter.

Have a great Wednesday everyone! I'm looking forward to heading to the 'Pines tonight and seeing you all. I heard a rumour that Carl might have two TVs running. One TV will have the baseball game while the other will be searching for Christmas commercials as they come on TV... Sounds great to me!

Good Wednesday morning, Christmas friends!

Elizabeth's play last night was a great success! It was a drama about the mother, daughter and wife of a soldier who was deployed to the middle east, and how they coped with his death just a few days before he was supposed to return home. It was very emotional, and I could hear lots of people crying in the dark.

I know it sounds like a downer, but it was a very effective drama. Elizabeth played the soldier's mother, whose husband had died years before in the Korean War. They applied facial makeup and put powder in her hair to turn it gray. Then they put her in an old chair with an afghan in her lap. Between the makeup, props and her acting, she looked just like a very sad older lady.

They go to region competition with the play next Tuesday.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

I'm glad the play went well. Elizabeth sounds so talented! I know you're proud.
Us dad's tend to get that way, huh? :)

Good Morning, Friends of the Holidays.

Closing in quickly now on the REAL home stretch to the Season, the SINGLE DIGIT point!
Also exciting, we are closing in on the start of our eagerly awaited and much coveted Special Post Series. (More on that in a moment.)

First, the daily data.
(And we are adding the Thanksgiving Day count figure at this point.)
Days to the Season: 11 (SINGLE DIGITS THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW!)
Days to Thanksgiving Day: 22 (Three weeks from tomorrow!)
Days to Christmas Day: 53 (Barely over 7 1/2 weeks left!)
(Wow, Guys. Just......WOW!)

And now, the Super Exciting reminder of the pending Special Post Series!
Here is the schedule:
November 8 (Day 5 before the Season) = Christmasstar
November 9 (Day 4 before the Season) = Binger
November 10 (Day 3 before the Season) = McGunny
November 11 (Day 2 before the Season) = DYHWI Hear
November 12 (Day 1 before the Season) = Brent

And as you can see, the series begins in just 6 short days.
Those who have been here in years past know what to expect.
Newcomers? Well, let's just say you don't want to miss it!

A tad cool and cloudy here yesterday and we struggled to reach 60 degrees. It just did not get as warm as was predicted.
Now today, it is supposed to climb into the upper 70's, with the 80 degree mark to be surpassed tomorrow.
Then? Back to more seasonal temps.
We see 54 degrees on our back door thermometer right now, but it's calm and clear.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday, Everyone.
See you at the 'Pines this evening for the first open house of the new month.
(Carl is ready as always!)
Thank you, Crown! See you at the 'Pines.

See you tonight!
On a side note, our friend & his son were at the game last night in a luxury box! Not sure how he scored those tickets, but he's a life long Indian's fan. Too bad the outcome wasn't so good for them!
