Christmas Countdown - 2016

I have fond memories of them, too!
I had been looking for the right ones for awhile, and came across these (I got a set) from an antique dealer on Etsy. They have nice detail of wax dripping, and a Christmas bell on the base. The dealer sold me when she offered to throw in my color choice of C7 bulbs.

We had neighbors a few doors down who always put blue bulbs in her candoliers. Even as a child I thought, why blue bulbs? I really didn't like 'em! But in their largest window they had a candolier of bubble lamps, and those fascinated me. When we visited, I always had to go look at those!

It appears the Christmas music will be starting on our local radio station today. They let us vote when to start but it usually is the Thursday before thanksgiving

This is our vintage tree, I have collected mid century modern ornaments for the past year from estate sales, antique stores, etc. Family & friends have been a big help in spotting them, too. It's been a labor of love. I wanted to have a tree that reminded me of my childhood.
I also picked out some fabric from the 50's and found a lady who was happy to repurpose it and make me a tree skirt.
The atomic tree topper is from Poland.

Gracie is ornery as ever!!! It's still a chore to try to get her to eat on demand 3x a day, but we're doing our best! She went to the groomer yesterday so she's all pretty again!

Good Thursday morning, Christmas friends!

It was a difficult night last night. I got a call that a great aunt of mine had fallen very ill and was taken to the hospital. She passed away a short time later. As I was talking with mom about that, I got another call that a high school classmate had died. My goodness. Bless their hearts, they were both good people. My aunt was the sweetest lady in the world.

Tonight, we're supposed to take Elizabeth out for her birthday. We told here we could go anywhere she wanted to go. She chose to go to a restaurant near the University so Jacob could join us, since he has to stay late for a performance. She's such a good girl!

Happy Thursday everyone ~
Just a quick hello, I have to head out to run a couple of errands. I had Maggie at the groomer this morning, I almost canceled because she's still having trouble with her tummy. Not sure what's bothering her. May be the antibiotics she's on. Cant wait until she finishes this round, there's just a couple of days left. She made it through the appointment just fine but I'm glad it's over with. No way I could have rescheduled, the groomer is completely booked up until the New Year. I made her holiday appointments back in September. Anyway, I'm going to run my errands quick so I could get back home to her. I'll just be working on some chores around the house this afternoon. Dinner is already cooking in the crock pot, we're having pulled pork tonight. I'm going to pick up fresh rolls while I'm out and make coleslaw to go with it. That's about it for me. I hope everyone is well and has a nice day!

Good morning HMG! I'm happy Maggie made it through her appointment ok. Of course we would love to see a picture! Gracie got the prettiest bow from the groomer yesterday. I've lined up a great week, Martine. It's been real awesome thus far. Looking forward to finishing it on a high note next week. The students treat me super well, so giving back is the least I can do for them... and, I have practice for the Junior Girls tomorrow. It was nice to get an idea of the level of play my girls should be striving.
