Christmas Countdown - 2016

Good Morning MMC friends. Where to begin? I was preparing to go to my friend's funeral on Wednesday when I got a call from work saying my wife had fallen in the parking lot. I and our daughter got here and brought her home, but something was still not right, so we called her doctor and she informed us to take her to the ER ASAP. After examination, it was determined she had acute Kidney failure and needed to be hospitalized. She stayed there from Wednesday until Saturday. After all the tests and time, it was decided by the doctors that she had picked up some type of virus that was affecting her kidneys (as they came back to normal on Thursday). Needless to say however, my week was up and down. Visiting her in the room, taking care of things at home, working and trying to get a little sleep here and there. I basically did okay, but obviously time on the computer and this very special site had to be put on hold.
She is home now and will see her regular doctor on Tuesday. She hopes to be back at work on Wednesday, but we will see. I can sympathize, as I hate just laying around myself. A bit of a cold hit me on Friday and I did battle with it, resulting in a Sunday sleeping all day with the help of Daddy NyQuil.
I am off now until Friday night at 10PM, so I plan on finishing any shopping this morning and then spending time between some TV with my wife and a little decorating. I also want to replace that four foot section on the roof that is out, but we will see how that goes...

it was a busy weekend so glad all that is done now.
Only got a bronze at the cake competition this year, this was my entry

Now on to the gingerbread house building fun !

Winter has arrived compete with snow squall warnings. It is -3 this morning (26f) with a much colder wind chill -9c (15f). So glad I have auto start on my van so it can defrost a bit before I have to get in.

That bookstore was great Merry!! And very well stocked up. It even had that old book smell. I did manage to leave my wallet there and they overnite air'd it to me.

Glad to hear you had a good time there! And yes, it certainly does have "old book smell" there! Part of its charm. Sometimes you can hardly squeeze through the aisles there, it's so crammed with books.

Happy New Week, everyone!

We woke up to a dusting of snow this morning ... which was a little surprise! It's in the low 30s and a bit nippy, so it's starting to feel like Thanksgiving outdoors. I got my crown re-cemented early this morning, so I'll be in good shape for the office Thanksgiving at lunchtime. (I'll have to go easy when chewing on that side for today, though!) And the receptionist told me a shortcut (with no traffic!) to get directly to the route I take to work, so I wasn't even late.

Here it is Thanksgiving week, and I still can hardly believe it's so close. This weekend was a whirl. I don't know how I'm going to get everything done before Christmas, but it always happens somehow!

Good morning MMC! Merry Monday!!! Why is it all weekend I didn't care that I'm not prepared at all for 40 people coming on Thursday but today I would give my left arm to be at home prepping?? Ha ha! No, really it will be fine - I always start stressing as it draws near!! @Bradmac I was so happy my niece texted this morning asking what she could bring! Guess what I told her?? YEP, Green Bean Casserole!

It was a busy weekend. We were gone all day Saturday, yesterday we were dog sitters for my nieces Great Dane puppy. She is SO SWEET! Her & Gracie were enchanted with each other. So darn cute! We also had Jim's Dads side of the family, Thanksgiving. Ate too much of course - let the holidays begin! I stayed with Mom last night. She has started with a cough/runny nose - but she had a good night. I swear I smell like walking essential oil today. LOL! The smell is stuck in my nose!

How's your Sunday? Getting ready and excited for Thanksgiving?

Today's cookie baking made up for yesterday's big fail. The chocolate chip cookies came out beautifully for the office Thanksgiving tomorrow (thank goodness). I used Silpat liners for the first time instead of parchment, and they worked well. I need another one to roll out sugar cookies on.

Did some more sneaky online shopping for Mr. today. Almost done! A few more gifts to get yet.

Slow day at MMC today, I only had 23 posts to catch up on since last night.
Today was probably the last big day for turkeys, and I am feeling it. I put out at least 75 cases of turkeys. I am tired and very achey.
I work again tomorrow and then have Tuesday off.
20 more days until we go to NYC, I am starting to get excited. I cannot wait to see the big tree at Rockefeller Center.
We got a little bit of snow, but nothing stuck to the ground, 50 miles west of us got 10 inches today.

Happy Thanksgiving week!
I've been up for quite some time, Maggie was so restless last night. No time to be tired, lots to do today. I have to pick up a couple of things at Bed, Bath & Beyond for Thanksgiving and I must finish birthday gift shopping for my daughter. I have a bit of cleaning to do as well. Tomorrow I will finish up my food shopping and I'll start cooking, baking and prepping on Wednesday!

Good morning! Today I have some errands to do before I get ready for work. Luckily my dad is off so I don't have to drag Carolina out in the cold at all. I have to run to Walmart to purchase Carolina's last Christmas gift. She is getting a bike. I will pay for it today and have the bike guys at Walmart put it together for me. Then it will sit in my aunts garage until Christmas eve night

Merry Monday Holiday! Great danes are adorable. My husband had 2 growing...Gretchen and Gretel. My MIL said they were the sweetest dogs and would take up an entire couch when they would lay down...lol

Thank you both and everyone else. I'm okay don't worry. It's aggravated by the arctic air we had move in I think. A couple days on the inhaler should see me right. Tomorrow I don't have to go out so I can stay in and let my body adjust.

Hey, gang! It is complete! School is out for break and I am disappearing for 9 days. They won't see me, hear from me, or know I exist. I can't wait to spend the next few days with babies, wifey, dogs, lights, cooking, family, Christmas shopping, tv shows, candy corn, turkey, more turkey, and a little ham....

Merry Monday! Unfortunately my Dad is in the hospital. He went in yesterday morning and he is having a GI bleed but they are not sure where? They did an upper endoscopy and could not find anything so they think it could be coming from the small intestine. He has to have a transfusion today and hopefully will be out before Thanksgiving..we will see. He feels pretty good though..I am going to go down and see him after work.

Good Afternoon/Evening christmas friends...Its a baltic night here again Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!...Cosy on the sofa with my girls watching Children In Need...My girls wanted to donate their money from their piggy bank to Children In Need...I broke down tonite in tears watching this lady who has a young family and has been told the cancer has spread to her bones...Soo sad to see what that family are going through...Goodnight christmas friends

So heartbreaking to think of/hear the stories of those going through such a rough time, especially this time of year! My niece & her 3 boys (youngest is too little to "get it") are collecting blankets for the homeless this season. They are accepting blankets or $$$ & she will take the boys shopping to buy blankets with the money. Her middle son (4) can't figure out why people don't have a house to live in when he has a big warm basement they could sleep in. He's so sweet!

And that is exactly what happened. Friday afternoon the neighbor ladies were over. We had drinks on the patio - 74º! By 9am Saturday it was windy as could be & SNOWING!!! It was a miserable weather weekend. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Good Saturday morning! Currently huddled under a blanket in the living room with Loki sleeping between my hubby and me and the little pooch is snoring/making the cutest noises. I always wonder what he's dreaming of. Time to get ready and start the day. I want to get all the shopping and chores done today so that tomorrow, my last day off, I'll be able to just relax and have fun. We might go to a restaurant for supper, we'll see how the day unfolds. And we'll finally hang David's beloved new tape lights. Have a fantastic day everyone!

Hi everybody! I made it home safe. Now I have 10 days off!!! Something exciting about Christmas for me is that I live in the Christmas Capitol of Texas!! So it is absolutely amazing here for the season!! I am going to the Tree Lighting downtown Monday! They will turn all the lights on in the city that night too. It's is going to be so awesome. Every building and sign and post are decorated! The stores go Christmas themed, it's amazing!!

How exciting! Have fun today/tonight & enjoy your days "back home"!
