Christmas Countdown - 2017

Good Morning, All! It feels like Spring is on the way. We had weather in the 70's on Friday, and a big thunderstorm on Saturday. Of course, the temps are a more seasonable 50 today, but it was very nice while it lasted. I went to see Mom at the assisted living on Friday, and they had all the residents out on the patio enjoying the sun. My Mom was inclined to have a nap, so I was talking with everyone else who wanted a chat. There are only 7 people living there, so it's more like a family style living arrangement than a nursing home. Even the caregiver got to come out for awhile and enjoy the sun!

Saturday was our annual pre-spring thunderstorm with hail. This year it was also very windy and the hail was the size of kidney beans. I'm lucky I was safe at home and didn't have to go out!

I finally finished Big Little Lies. I loved it.

Today I have a dr appt so Carolina will go to my cousin. After the dr I am going to pick up my bridesmaid dress. It already came in and I'm shocked because they told us that it could take 4 to 5 months to arrive. We ordered them the day before the Super Bowl.

Happy Monday MerryBells. Even here, I can feel the call of Spring. True, we are still in the 30's and 40's, but for the upper mid-west region, that is a sign of Spring right around the corner.
I'm pleased to hera that there are some smaller homes out there. I'm sure it makes the residents feel more "at home" than in a large facility where they are simply one of many. Stay safe in those storms, I remember the hail storms in Omaha when I was stationed there. Once we even used them for "ice cubes" in our drinks (they were quarter sized).

Happy Monday Snowflake. We got ours on Thursday evening through Friday morning here in Sioux Falls. Since we were mostly on the northern edge, we wound up with only about 6". Of course with the weather having been so nice, the ground was a little warm, which helped on the roads, but left some ice on the sidewalks. The weekend saw temps in the upper 30's, so the roads and sidewalks have now dried out.
Glad to hear things went well for Harlowe and I can sympathize with work. Between that and a few unexpected things going on around here, my time in MMC has been a little spotty as well.

Good Monday morning, Christmas friends!

First, @snowflake22 , sending prayers for Harlowe's quick recovery!

What a long, crazy weekend I had. Most of Saturday was destroyed by trimming two of our crepe myrtles. I had no idea there were that many limbs on a CM. I wasn't well-prepared, either. I should have verified that at least one of my dad's trailers was available. My brother had both of them loaded down. By the time the ordeal was over, I had broken a rope and a chain, scratched my truck and burned my hand. And I have three more crepe myrtles to trim!!

Sunday morning Jacob sang at a church in Savannah with the University Singers, then we had Bernie's Birthday Bash that afternoon. There was around 300 people there, and we had enough food to feed them again! We had a great time, and I had a chance to get a picture (attached below) with the current Bellville mayor and the only other (living) former mayor. Please ignore the white beard. I couldn't find my box of Just for Men LOL! Then we spent 3 hours cleaning up after everyone left. Whew.

I'm so glad to be back at work so I can get some rest!

Thank you so much for the prayers, Harlowe is a tough little cookie, and is doing pretty well overall.
She's getting sick of the soft foods only-
Her pain meds will be finished tomorrow, and we can slowly introduce more foods and her favorite duck jerky again.

Good morning MMC! It sure is Monday!!!

Emma called my sister this morning - she can't come today. They had a death in the community, she wants to go to the viewing. So we're scrambling. I'm going at 9:00 until my oldest sister gets there after noon, then another sister will come around 3-3:30 until another sister gets off work, then she will spend the night & stay until Emma gets there in the morning. My oldest sister will pick up Emma in the am. Geez!!! Thank goodness we have so many of us to get this covered!!

I am sitting here on my lunch break wishing I was at home just relaxing and watching Christmas Movies We had such a busy weekend ... got the shelves up in our sons bedroom with the help from my FIL. Yesterday we hosted family dinner yesterday and had a house full until after 8 last night. I am so tired today but it was all worth it.

Greetings Minta. Not quite afternoon here yet, but a happy one to you. Having checked out this site today, it seems many of our MMC family had very full weekends. Probably one of the reasons I am glad my two days off include a week day (Sunday & Monday), when most of the world is at work and I can just wind down.

Hello everyone.
I have not been on in while so I wanted to stop in and hi.
Things have been busy, crazy and yuck!
My wife was sick last week, then I got sick this week. I went to school and tried to teach Wednesday and Thursday with almost no voice at all. But I did not have much of a choice yesterday because I am the Quiz Team coach and we had a tournament yesterday. So, I decided to take today off. I drove the kids to school and came home. And then around 9:30, the school called because Henry had a 101 fever. So, back to school I went to pick him up.

On this past Monday, President's day, my oldest son, Nathan was in a car accident. No one was hurt but the car was totaled. He has court this coming Monday. In Ohio all juveniles who get traffic citations have to appear in court.
Also last weekend, on Saturday, we went to a funeral in Indiana for my wife's aunt. My wife's aunt and her husband(who survived) were in a car crash. The aunt died on the scene and her husband suffered several broken bones in his leg, but nothing life threatening. He did not know his wife had died for several hours.

So, I am ready for February to be done! It has not been the best of months really. But it will all get better.

In happier news, my Quiz Team finished 6-1 and took 2nd place. One of the kids on the team ended up being the highest individual scorer at the tournament. We have one more tournament next Thursday. It is a double elimination tournament with 8 teams.

Well I hope everyone is doing well, and I intend on being on here more often.

Good Morning .. been up since 7:30 got almost all the laundry done. We are suppose to be in the upper 60s today before the cold front and storms roll through later today.Want to get in a bike ride and take my mom to the grocery store before then.

When I was cleaning out the truck of my car the other day I found bag with a couple small gifts/stocking stuffers inside that I completely forgot about this past Christmas so I will put them aside and use them for this upcoming Christmas

74 and sunny yesterday. 30 and snowing today. You'll never convince me that mother nature isn't bipolar. Lol!! Oh well, gives me a good reason to test out this new electric fireplace entertainment center I spent 4 hours putting together yesterday. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!!!

I had to turn on our fireplace this weekend too. Crazy...last week windows were open!!

We got in at 4am this morning after a long delay toward Bradmac's neck of the woods in Atlanta. Disney was amazing, but exhausting. We are already planning a return trip within the next 2-3 years. We really don't want another 15 years between visits again.
I hope to take some time to get caught up tomorrow, after the Black Wolves game.

Good evening,

The weather was quite a bit different today, yesterday was in the 60's, and of course Florida was in the 80's, so today being in the 30's was a shock. Northwest of us yesterday was hit with a tornado that caused substantial damage. Tornadoes in Massachusetts in February are unheard of.
Suffering from a bit of PDB's (post-Disney blues) we anticipated it for months and boom it came and went but the memories we made will be forever. The Black Wolves game was a disappointment this afternoon, they just didn't have it today.
One more day of vacation left, then back to work on Tuesday.

It's going to be a cloudy day with a high of 50 degrees. I have to run a few errands later this morning. I need to run to the pet store, Rite Aid and Kohl's to spend my Kohls cash. I also need to start deep cleaning my house. My mothers birthday is in two weeks and I'm having a party for her. I can't believe February is almost over.

Happy Monday MMC! 2 days left in February...unreal. Got a lot accomplished this weekend but that didn't make for as much rest as I would have liked. Looking forward to next weekend already (just like Holiday) because my Nintendo Switch is arriving on Friday. Planning on getting pizza then and trying it out. For now, it's my busy week of the month (or busiest should I say) so the hours of the day are going to go fast. Still playing with my phone and figuring out how to use it. Have a great Monday!!!

We had delicious pizza at Moms Friday night. My hubby picked up a couple unbaked pizza's at my favorite place & we baked them at Moms for supper. Mmmmm, Mmmmmm!

Sure enough, we had a cool spell here yesterday and I did not see the thermometer move past the mid 50's all day.
But not to worry. Nice warm weather returns again later today and for the next several.

Wow! At least, like you said, there are so many of you, and you all live close enough to help. Your mom is so lucky!

Ended up my niece called & said she didn't have to work, or have class until 1:00 tomorrow. She came home from Indiana & she's going to stay with Mom - she relived me around 12:15 & will stay until Emma gets there tomorrow morning. Nice!

Good Monday Morning to the entire MMC community. Got in some quality time yesterday with my wife and daughter, which included me treating them to a Culver's dinner (complete with ice cream). We caught a few episodes of Hawaii-Five O and had been building up while our daughter was in California.
Today is still up in the air, but with a revised weather forecast of 43 for a high, it might be a good day to get into the garage and clean up a bit. Here are a couple of photos from the evening of the 25th (after the last snow storm) with the remainder of my lights still up...
