Around here the schools close around mid-June and don't open again until late August---that's why it seems awfully early to me to be touting school supplies. I feel bad for the poor schoolkids who see the ads!

I agree Merry - I remember being a kid & seeing them school supply ads - UGH! Probably why I still get queasy when I see them now!

The 4th of July Parade in the Lakewood neighborhood of Dallas was a huge success! Many were surprised to see Santa in the parade. It was funny to see the children and some adults very excited to see Santa and the other adults confused. You can tell who the real believers are. Lots of "Happy 4th, Santa!" and "Merry Christmas in July, Santa!" from the believers.

Good for you big guy and a very Happy Thursday morning. Great costume, I'm sure our North Pole main man would be impressed and honored.

I hope everyone had a great 4th! A coworker used to tell me after the 4th the summer is "over" because it flies by so quickly. I've got two weeks of vacation coming up and then it'll practically be August! The first of the longer named months. I don't wish away summer at all! Savoring every minute! But isn't it amazing how quickly time passes and we're so soon already going to be turning thoughts to back to school and fall?

Good Morning DoYouHear. If you see that co-worker again, you can add this from me. When I was stationed in Minot, ND, we use to say there were two seasons... Winter and the 4th of July.

Good Thursday morning! It's going to be a hot and humid day, with more to come over the next few days. I'm looking forward to having the weekend off and then one more work week before I'm on vacation. It's a relaxing morning as I am working the afternoon/evening shift today. Ahhhh, school clothes and supplies make me happy I dont have kids yet! Pretty hot around here lately, ready for the cooling off coming late next month. Was at Family Dollar yesterday and saw them unloading a truck full of Christmas trees. Usually places start the Christmas decorations in mid-august, with "Black Friday now" sales starting in early august. With alot of retailers shutting doors for good throughout the year and going out of business, I see alot of places throwing everything they have at this holiday season to get people out of the house and into a store.

Morning CRace. We set our "Back to School" at Wally World last night. I look forward to it mainly because there will be less kids wandering around the store at 2-4AM. Where are all the parents?
Hobby Lobby will be getting their stuff out in full force now that the 4th is over. Got to get down there and take a peek. Also looking forward to the Hallmark Keepsake Collection for 2017 getting it's debut on the 15th.

CG..I just read where Hobby Lobby has to pay a 3 million fine for buying Iraqi artifacts, plus they lost the payed purchase price. Funny..because they probably did the history pros a favor, at least they didnt get destroyed and in a way were preserved. Most people have no idea of the looting and destruction that went on by the Iraqi people at museums and digs that were in progress when we were steam rolling thru Baghdad.

Funny..because they probably did the history pros a favor, at least they didnt get destroyed and in a way were preserved. DOJ . It looks like they were told by a expert before the buy there was a good chance they were stolen. But they were shipped mislabeled from neutral countries to get around cutoms.

I read this article this morning too!! I was shocked to see that!

When I was home for lunch I thought I would check out the LOGO Channel (I saw they had a Christmas episode of The Facts Of Life on this morning - but we don't get that channel at work) When I turned it on, "One Day At A Time" was on! Then I noticed later this afternoon "Alice" was on. OMGosh!!! What classics, I haven't seen for a long, long time!!! So I am DVR'ing a couple episodes of Alice. LOVED that show. "Kiss My Grits!"
