It's great to read that so many of you are continuing your holiday celebrations this late into January. It makes me feel a lot less alone in doing so myself. I still have my mid size tree up and my shelf all still fully decorated and lit up. And as the days have come this month I just haven't quite been able to let it go. I've also been constantly re-watching all my DVR recordings and letting it play through the commercials just to keep the holiday mood going. It's amazing how many more times you can watch a Christmas movie or TV episode, have Christmas music on more often, or just actively enjoy looking at your decorations once Christmas is over than you do when it's actually December. During the month of December sometimes its alright to just be, to relax, and to not have to fill every second of every day doing something Christmassy. It can feel forced sometimes if you try filing every moment like that. Like I've mentioned before, it's that fullness to the day which is all you need, everything else is just gravy. It's only after Christmas that you need to start making a concerted effort to keep it going. Which for me can often result in celebrating it much more intensely than during the actual season. To the point where it's almost all I do for a while after. I reminisce about it constantly, and do everything I can to recreate, re-live, and recapture all those moments that came during the season. I'll even catch myself doing something else or paying attention to something else sometimes, realize it, and go right back to Christmas mode. Simply because I'm almost scared to let it go, and fear that if enough time passes then it wouldn't be possible to get it back. You know in It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, where Linus is talking about the Great Pumpkin, and just for a second he doubt it's existence, quickly realizes it, then laments that he allowed his mind to drift from it, and goes right back to thinking about it again in order to keep up the belief and the cause, fearing that if he doesn't it could go away completely. That's about the best the comparison I can make whenever that happens to me once the season is over but in my own little world I'm keeping it going. None of this interferes with work or relationships so I see no issue with it, even though I do have to hide it and keep it to myself most of the time.

Anyways, it's my Friday, so this evening marks the beginning of my weekend. And for the next couple of days I'll be doing mostly what I described above. But by Saturday my house will be occupied again. I'll give it one last evening to enjoy it on Friday, which is the start of my work week, but by Saturday morning I really won't have a choice but to wake up a few hours early and take everything down before I go to work. At least that way I can spend the whole two days I have off and one last evening enjoying it all for the last time.

Hope everyone has a good day!
Awesome post!

I'm glad to hear she doesn't have to stay on Coumadin, but sorry to hear she's still having bad days & TIA's. That has to be so frustrating & scary for all of you! Will be keeping you all in my prayers. Did you ever hear a verdict after her last disability hearing? Hoping for all good news!

Thanks for the prayers.

We just got the ruling from the judge this afternoon. She ruled in moms favor and found her disabled as of September 2014. Reading the ruling though just makes you mad because she agrees with everything the independent doctor they sent her too back in november of 2014 said. So why they didn't just approve her back then instead of dragging it out for 28 months, I don't know.

Now we wait for the processing facility to get the paperwork in order to see how much she'll get and when it will start.

Oh, oh! Look what is closing at Crabtree Valley.
But not to worry. They should be reopening in less than 10 months.
(And up until they closed, they were running 75 percent off sales!)

Well, keep tuned to this thread in September. About that time, I should learn whether the store will be there early (by late September), late (early November) or not at all.
All three scenarios have occurred in recent years.

Good morning MMC! Merry Tuesday!!!

What a night we had last night. Mom was home for the day when my sis got a call from the nursing home saying she had to be back by 6 b/c her INR was way too high. (blood too thin from Coumadin) - they wanted to do another blood draw at 6pm. Not sure what the rush was...but anyway...we had her back....and her blood wasn't drawn until 7. Grrrr! She was SO HAPPY to be home for them few hours anyway. Her blood was still very thin from that blood draw so they gave her a Vit K shot this morning. But in the mean time my Mom #2 (my best friends mom - and my moms neighbor) was admitted to the hospital - congestive heart failure. She called me in a panic, wanting me to take her to the hospital. I had just arrived for my hair apt. Thankfully her niece was able to take her. So after work tonight I get to go to the nursing home AND the hospital. I can think of better places to hang out! o_O

Rainy morning here. It looked like night time when I came to work this morning. It's lighter now, but still very cloudy!!

Hope you all are having a great MILESTONE DAY!!!!

********** MILESTONE DAY **********

Good Morning, Guys.

And there you have it.
MILESTONE NUMBER ONE!!
It's here. It's really here!

Days to the Season: 300
Days to Christmas Day: 342

And indeed, today we open the 300-day Season Window Milestone and invite a 200's level Season count in to entertain us for the next 100 days.
(Really moving along now and it's still mid January. Wow!)

It was pretty overcast here yesterday which kept the temperatures down.
Today should see the sun return along with warmer temp readings.
We have commenced the morning at 50 degrees here in the capital city and for now it is still cloudy.

Have a Terrific Tuesday, Friends -- with visions of 'Pines Day dancing in your heads!

Happy 300!!!

Carolina and I spent the night playing with super hereos. We played with her DC Comics DC Girls figures. She had a lot of fun. I'm kind of surprised she likes the super hereos but that is pretty much what Mikes family does all the time and what he likes so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Her favorite is Super Girl and Poison Ivy.

I am finally catching up on the last episode of the great Christmas light fight

Hello, Everyone! I haven't been here in a while but NEEDED to stop by. The weather is very dreary. Foggy, misty air, but icy roads and sidewalks. I combat that by having left up a few wintry Christmas lights and some nice hot coffee. There is lots to do and I don't really want to do a thing. Ah yes, January. :(
But it's not so bad. The best thing to do is light a candle, make a nice hot drink, and put on the Christmas music. I've been thinking about something a lot lately. I don't really enjoy Christmas when it is Christmastime. Christmas is mine when the stress is gone. That's true Peace. So, now I can enjoy Christmas with all of you for approximately the next eleven months. :)
Things I am looking forward to: The Packers playing in Atlanta this Sunday, Decorating for Valentine's Day, planning my vegetable garden for spring, becoming an aunt for the second time in May, Christmas!
I hope everyone had a Fantastic Christmas and a Wonderful New Year! I hope you all have a list of things you are looking forward to in 2017!
Have a Merry Day!

Great to see you!

Good evening,

It was a crazy day here, our youngest is going through some problems, I really shouldn't go through them here since we are having trouble understanding them ourselves. If you can, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. I am taking tomorrow off in case he needs me to be home for him.
I really don't have much else to report tonight after the stress of the day.

Goodnight, everyone

wow, thats pretty coincidental timing for that many networks to be showing Christmas stuff ... I wonder why... don't get me wrong, it's fantastic, just wondering.

If you pay attention and look for it you can always find a proportionally higher number of scattered Christmas things on TV throughout the month of January than you do the rest of the year. And I have to assume there is an intent behind it and that it is direct residual from it so recently having been the holiday season. Because you simply won't find the same number of Christmas things on after January and throughout the rest of the year. I mean if you look carefully enough throughout the year you might find the occasional Christmas episode of a TV show being aired, but that's mainly due to it just falling into the regular syndication of episodes of whatever series it is. But like I said, you won't find nearly as many of those things on throughout the year as you do in January, so I really have to assume, or maybe just hope, it has something to do with it being the holiday season not that long ago.

I really miss my old cable format where I had a Keyword Search function where you type in any word and it would bring up all content that contains that word whether it was in the title, the description, anywhere. So you could type in Christmas, and it would bring up anything with the word Christmas in it. I managed to catch a lot more things than I do now simply because a lot of times in a show for example, the word Christmas might appear in the description or title of the actual episode and not of the title of the series itself. Whereas now all I have is a Title Function that only gives titles of things that contain the word you're searching.

Anyways, here's a good website that lists a lot of Christmas things airing on TV. It gets updated year round. And while they get most things, sometimes they don't quite get everything. I've emailed them a couple of times to let them know if I saw something in my cable guide that they haven't listed, but I never got a response or saw a change in what they list.

Well on my way home tonight I noticed most people seem to have taken down their lights. Even the few go-to houses that I've depended on these last few weeks have finally taken them down. There's only a few trees and windows that I saw with lights still on them, mostly white lights, which I guess at this point is more of a wintery thing than a Christmas thing. I've seen several Christmas trees out front of homes in the last couple of days ready for trash pick up, so I'm guessing that could mean these folks had their trees up inside their homes until fairly recently and only now decided to toss them out.

And while watching TV these last couple of nights I did see a couple of Christmas commercials which definitely surprised me. One was a Verizon commercial where it started out showing a house all decked out in Christmas decorations and a family rushing in to take it all down so they can go to the store and still catch one of their after-Christmas deals. The other one was the Sprint commercial with the "Can you hear me now?" guy at a tree lot asking why one is cheaper for only the 1% difference in pine needles. This was live TV I was watching, not a DVR. Got to say that's about the latest I've ever seen a Christmas or after-Christmas commercial air, at least since I've been paying attention.

As for me, this evening marks the start of my weekend. Right now I'm watching a DVR recording of A Charlie Brown Christmas and just relaxing and enjoying my indoor lights, tree, and decorations while I still can. I have a good amount of pork still frozen that was originally used during some tamale making earlier in the season, so I'll probably defrost that and eat it over the next couple of days that I'm off.

Anyways, hope everyone had a good night. I'll definitely be posting a lot these next couple of days since they will certainly be my last to really celebrate the season.

Sending positive thoughts your way so you can figure our quickly what is happening with your youngest and that everything will be ok.

Here's a couple other sites I use in season. They don't really have anything for this time of year, but in season, between these sites and the one you've posted, you should be able to cover a majority of Christmas shows that are on TV.

Morning MMC! I'm hoping today I can make it through with my cold/cough. Not feeling great at all but I'm pushing through to go to work. I don't think that I have a fever which is good. If I do it would be a small one. I'm just having my cereal here and relaxing before getting ready. Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday. We still have some lights around here but most of them are off now. But the few that are left are fun to watch! Have a great day!
