Hi there Brent. I can't imagine running in the wind. I have done it some in my younger days playing football, but I was more concerned where the ball was than the wind blowing in my direction... ;)
Have fun with your tree. We use artificial ones here for two reasons. The first obvious is that they last longer and the second is that many of my ornaments are too heavy for regular tree limbs, but hold up nicely on thick wire covered in green.
Have a nice day and a better week...

Interesting. I have always considered that real trees were stronger. I prefer real trees, but have had to settle for artificial trees for years. We're hoping this one lasts longer than the three years of our previous tree. That, however, wasn't because of the tree itself, but rather the fact that Simon chewed through the lights at the bottom. We'll be sure to spray the wires with apple bitter every few weeks this year.

The wind was a little bad. I've had it worse. I think it really only hit about 10mph during the race. I would have been the same for football. It was very similar playing Ultimate. It's tough to throw anything in the wind, but a Frisbee can be super tough...

We had snow flurries for a couple of minutes at our Hallelujah Night at church last night. We were freezing. The crowds were lower than usual, but we still had 600+ people come through for bounce houses, facepainting (done by DD), cake walks (DH & me), candy, cotton candy, coffee, hot chocolate, hot dogs, nachos, cookies. We were frozen when we got home. DH took a hot shower, then we all settled in for our annual viewing of the Disney movie Ichabod Crane. Then DH showed DD an old taping of a Halloween show from Disney channel. We've had it on VHS for over 20 years and DD burned it to DVD. We're skipping Girl Scouts tonight to have time to get ourselves together for tomorrow night. DD will be helping me hand out candy at Halloween in the City for the office I work in. DD was shocked last night when I told her Halloween was Tuesday. She has also mentioned several times that she can't wait for Christmas. I'm glad that she's still excited at 12 years old, knowing the "truth" about Santa now. I was afraid she wouldn't care as much after finding out last year. Also, Sirius XM Holly starts Christmas music at noon on Wednesday, so that' something else to look forward too!

Greetings Whitney. I also recently watched Disney's version of Legend of Sleepy Hollow/Ichabod Crane and I also have a version of a Disney VHS burned to DVD titled Disney's Halloween Treat. It's too bad that they did not place more of their holiday specials on DVD for other generations to enjoy. I did manage to get a DVD copy of Disney's opening of the Haunted Mansion with a very young Kurt Russell and Osmond Brothers.
Have a great day...

I just saw a commercial for a all new Sesame Street Christmas. Its on November 23rd on PBS channel.

I just wanted to stop lurking for a moment to tell everyone about the really fun thing I encountered this weekend. I went to a Harvest Fair at my sister's church, and they had something called "Touch-A-Truck". There was a fire engine, an ambulance, a dump truck, cement truck, animal control truck, and lots of others, and the beauty of the thing was they were there for you to walk up and TOUCH them. The kids loved it! So did I, having never had the opportunity to see a firetruck or ambulance that close before. And nobody said "Hey! You can't touch that!" Genius! I thought I would mention it, in case any of you had social functions coming up that would benefit from such a thing. It was brand new to me, and maybe some of you haven't seen it either.

Have a great week!

THE OPERA... PART XXXVVVIIIXX

Act One:
Opens to a blank stage... after twenty minutes we hear a percolating sound- curtain closes for a twenty minute intermission...

Act Two:
Opens with Carl the Camel bounding up the escalator of the Crabtree Valley Mall.. a huge crowd follows and partakes of the holiday mistletoe berry mocha and peanut butter blend.. Jayish appears and dances a "paus du lux" entitled " Food Court Calamity..Orange Julius is out of business" Binger and Made arrive and sing the aria " Ain't no sunshine for those who don't drink java.." Bradmac and Xmastidings arrive with the Mayor/manager of Crabtree Valley Mall (Bradmac) and announce via an aria that the holiday favorite play.. "The feast of collapsing brick and mortar retail" would be performed in the closed Sears parking lot each day leading up to Christmas Eve.." the crowd rejoices and there is great festivity including at the Cinnabon stand which announces via an aria- a new flavor with only 3400 calories per bite..

end Act two

Act Three:
Opens with Ballcoach banging his head and golf club across a closed gate and singing the aria.."Why must the sporting goods store close- its so needed- why not Barnes and Noble?"- Sugarmuffin and Edge arrive and to console Coach sing him the aria " Cheer Up.. there's a golfing channel on every TV at Target"- Coach appears to cheer up- and there is great rejoicing as everyone prepares for opening night of the Feast of collapsing brick and mortar retail.. Then.. there is a flash of lightning and Crown appears at the head of the escalator.. they are angry that the festive spirit has disturbed their morning nap at the Sleep factory store- using their wizardly/witch (after all- Crown is gender neutral) powers they ban all people from going up and down the escalator at the Crabtree Valley Mall and also announce that the feast of collapsing brick and mortar retail will not take place.. then just for good measure, they banish Jayish into the plastic cylinder that sits in the space once occupied by Macys (also closed).. Jayish dances the paus du lux entitled.. " Binger can we please get some new props in an opera. I am tired of the plastic cylinder." McGunny announces via an aria to everyone that Crown is now sleeping on the couch at Pottery Barn.

end Act Three

Act 4 (finale)
Opens with the crowd at the Crabtree Valley Mall all secretly meeting at the site of the former Bath and Body Works. Homemakin Girl and Snowflake Mom announce via an aria that they have hatched a plan to free Jayish and carry on the feast by setting fire to 2,000 candles taken from the going out of business sale at Yankee Candle and smoking Crown out. Minta CCYager and Brent argue via an aria that this violates S Claus of the tenants of the Mall ( get it?) and instead propose that they spike a cinnabon with a magic potion. Binger agrees to mix the potion using a blend from Carl the Camel and then is seen leaving it near Crown as they sleep outside the Apple Store ( the "EVERYTHNG MUST GO SIGNS" are seen swaying beautifully in the background). Crown is seen eating the Cinnabon and in one of the most beautiful moments ever in Operatic history announces they have had a change of heart and the feast of collapsing brick and mortar could proceed along with Jayish being released from the plastic cylinder. The entire company comes together and lead by Christmasstar and Yuletide Junkie sings the aria" Victor Gruen ( invented the concept of Mall shopping) where are you?" Jayish dances a paus du lux entitled" Picadilly Cafeteria.." as the curtain closes

end-
AWESOME!!!! :sway-smile-

Good Afternoon ... Its a VERY windy day here today and a big drop in temps but that's ok with me :) Yesterday I the kids and I made cut out sugar cookies using Halloween and fall themed cookie cutters. I am thinking I should have made a double batch LOL as they are going very quickly. We got our Thanksgiving turkey over the weekend so that is one more thing checked off the shopping list.
Have a great day!

As much as I think that there is nothing more lovely than a white Christmas, snow can wait. You guys enjoy it, just don't send it over here just yet ;)
Which begs the question, do white Halloweens and black cats mix?...We had a blizzard in Halloween 1991 that produced news footage of little trick or treaters singing Jingle Bells as they marched from house to house through the snow.

Have a safe trip & a fun time!!! I hope you get your foot of snow AFTER you get home!!!
Wish we gotten a foot of snow. Just snow flurries, sleet and lots of wind.

Kim and I saw a commercial yesterday on FOX for a live performance of a Christmas Story. It is to air on December 17th. The commercial had everything Christmas!

We debated on whether or not this was the first Christmas commercial of the Season. I wanted to say "yes," but I don't really consider advertisements for something to air on that network as my "first commercial of the Season."

OK! I thought you would be!

Our Special Post Series list is complete and in place:
Nov. 08 (Day 5 before the Season) = Edge.
Nov. 09 (Day 4 before the Season) = Binger
Nov. 10 (Day 3 before the Season) = NcGunny
Nov. 11 (Day 2 before the Season) = Ballcoach
Nov. 12 (Day 1 before the Season) = Christmasstar

Don't miss this time period here, folks!
And then, the evening of the 12th when we count down in real time to the moment Christmas Season 2017 begins.
The air is starting to crackle with excitement!

Well gang, time to call it a night. No, I'm not headed to bed just yet, but dinner is ready and I believe I hear the clarion call of the NFL. So I'll sign off for now and will see you all in the morning. Goodnight and remember, the witching hour begins in 5 hours and 3 minutes...
