We are officially UNDER three weeks away now from 2017 Milestone number two, the 1/4 mark to the Christmas Season!
(And for the purpose of calendar marking, that's February 12.)


Quite wet here yesterday with still more rain, but the temperatures were quite pleasant for January in NC.
Today should be our last with a precipitation threat for a while and it has commenced at 45 very damp degrees.


Well, the Packers' run has ended and it's the Falcons and the Patriots in the Super Bowl.
Guess I'll pull for the birds.

We've been having some scary weather around here. Yesterday, we encountered the leading edge of a tornado while on the interstate. We had no idea it was coming, then we suddenly couldn't see the highway due to rain & wind, and we were going 75MPH. I was able to pull the car over with getting involved in an accident. The wind brought down trees into the interstate, but it was gone pretty fast.

We're still under a tornado watch for a few more hours. Sheesh. Y'all stay safe!

Good Monday morning, Christmas friends!

It was a crazy-weather weekend, but we made it through unscathed. It's still raining a lot, and it's supposed to be windy this afternoon, but the brunt of it has passed by. There were several deaths associated with the storm, and I pray for their families.

When Jacob was very young, he used to like a kids show called Little Bear. They did a show about bad weather, and Mother Bear taught him a quote: "Whether the weather be cold, or whether the weather be hot, we'll weather the weather, whatever the weather, whether we like it or not." I still love Little Bear, and I'll stop and watch a minute of it, if it's on TV. It reminds me of the early days of our life together.

Good Morning, MMC!!! Its going to be a rainy monday here as well but nearly as bad as those on the east coast are going to get. Praying all of you stay safe. I have some errands to run today and have to go sign the new lease for my apartment. I think the new owners are trying to lock us all in for life knowing no one wants to move in January. I'll also be waiting on the NASCAR news conference this evening to see how much more they can screw up the races. I hope everyone is having a great day!!!

Was walking at Crabtree and couldn't resist taking a photo of the very last storefront remaining that still has its holiday decoration up. Sorry about the glare.
(By contrast, 13 houses in my neighborhood still have at least a Christmas wreath still up! Some have other decorations.)

My outside lawn decorations are gone, but the lights are still up and so is the trees and other decorations in the house. Most will come down the first week of February, but a few remain all year long.

Good morning MMC!!!! It sure is Monday!!!! (but that's ok, right?!) A very rainy Monday!!

What a weekend. We got my Mom home yesterday! YAY!!! I stayed with her last night, overnight. She went to bed shortly after 8:00 and within about 20 minutes she was ringing & ringing & ringing the bell on her walker. I went RUNNING in her room & asked what she needed?!?!?! She said "nothing, just thought I would see how long it takes you to come!!" Little sh*t!!! She's full of PNV!!! Trouble maker!!!! (I like it!)

On a much less happy note, our friends Dad who was admitted to the same nursing home my mom was in on Wednesday - also a neighbor & relative to my hubby - passed away.
One of my very good friends (the one I Christmas shop with every year & have "cookie day" with) - her Grandma passed away (which was probably a blessing) but also her cousin - 21 - committed suicide! 2017 is not starting well!!!

Despite all the sadness, there were some very happy moments as well! I do hope & pray you all had a great weekend too.

Is it just me, or have I been seeing more cardinals in Christmas cards and images this season? A couple years ago, a former co-worker of mine said when she saw a redbird, she knew her grandmother was watching out for her, and said that redbirds were a good sign that we are being watched over. I thought about that a lot, as I was going through a rough patch at the time. One day I was feeling particularly low, and as I drove through a parking lot, I had to stop for a huge truck. Across its side it said CARDINAL. I had to laugh out loud ... I couldn't ignore that message! As a result, maybe I'm just more alert to cardinals now. I got some little cardinal ornaments to put on my tree this year.

I do agree Merry, I've been seeing more cardinals - but that may too be b/c I've been on the lookout for them. After my brother died in 2012 - I saw several that spring. So comforting!

Still holding those of you dealing with sickness and other difficulties in my thoughts and prayers.

I've joined the ranks of those who have been ill lately. I'm home sick today. Pretty miserable right now, but from past experience, it should pass in a day or two. I felt awful about staying home from work today, as there's something important due mid-afternoon, and I hated to leave it in the hands of a temp, but there was no way I could put in a day's work today.

You're right. She just keeps having set-backs. Hopefully being at home now, she is on the right track. The poor lady - we keep preaching & preaching & preaching to her about what she has to do. I honestly think she just wants to flip us all off!! Ha ha!! Poor thing!

Evening everyone,

Thank you so much for all the kindness, encouragement and support. Every one of your words has given me strength and I truly mean that. No one in my world knows what's happening so I appreciate having you all here to turn to.

I am back at hospital in the morning for a second round of tests which they will want to compare with the first to see if and how things are progressing with the pregnancy. It may mean waiting till next week to know more. Trying to rest and deal with the physical symptoms but have to admit those are over shadowed by my emotional pain. I 'm trying my best to act like things are okay in front of the kids but this is also difficult because I keep breaking down.

Thank you again for the prayers and support. You all are in my thoughts and prayers too.

You have crossed my mind many times over the weekend!! Sending good thoughts, prayers, hugs & strength your way!!!

Oh my goodness Holiday your mum is having such a tough spell! She truly inspires me with her strength. Praying for her.
