Very well said Crown. When I take my stuff down (which I will finally do next weekend) I think about how fun it's going to be to put back up again in 300 days. I mean if I don't take it down then I'm never going to get to put it back up again! And you're right the anticipation all year long is a big part of what makes it so amazing when it gets here. As we go through each day, week and month...as things change from winter towards spring and summer...the build just gets bigger and then we finally reach the Bers and are truly on the road to Christmas. It's all exciting. This site makes the build so exciting and a place we can come to every day to think about it and talk about it.
Also well stated!

This is why I love the diverse Christmas culture here. Everybody has a different view of their season and how it ends and also how it begins. I am the strange breed that can have stuff up all year and it NEVER gets old or boring for me. I wasnt always married..lol and I have done it for many years. But I do see the flip side also and understand that not everyone can be like I am. I now keep my own den in the off season to enjoy whenever I want. I have posted before..you need to find what works for you and what doesnt.
That's the key. Whatever works for each individual!

I think alot of people just put it away and suffer with missing a piece of Christmas all year. Never even try maybe placing a Santa on a shelf or something Christmasy. I have a friend that has a digital picture frame that is filled with Christmas pics he will turn on when he is feeling down. All kinds of things can be used...I actually like his digital picture frame idea.

Was walking at Crabtree and couldn't resist taking a photo of the very last storefront remaining that still has its holiday decoration up. Sorry about the glare.
(By contrast, 13 houses in my neighborhood still have at least a Christmas wreath still up! Some have other decorations.)

Good evening everyone. It has been a busy week. Lots of school work, Henry's birthday was on Monday, my birthday was Thursday, meetings on Wednesday and Friday, Nathan (my oldest son) started new classes this week, my wife is working hard to finish her Master's thesis, visited with in-laws today. Tomorrow is football day and lesson planning day. Next week is no less busy either. But things should slow down a bit after that.

I hope everyone has had a good week and enjoying the weekend so far.

Good Morning, Everyone!

Getting ready to move into the final full week of January (hard though that may be to believe.)
After that, we have the short February, then winter will nearly be behind us.

But what's ahead of us? Like just THREE WEEKS ahead of us?
(Stay tuned.)

Today's numbers:
Days to the Season: 295
Days to Christmas Day: 337

Well, I'm glad you decided to stay tuned, and you will be glad too, once you realize that just 3 weeks from today will see us to Milestone number two of 2017, the ONE QUARTER MARKER to the Christmas Season!
(It's true. It's really and truly true!)

The warm weather continued yesterday as did the rain, pretty heavy there for a while in the evening. More of the wet stuff is predicted for today and tomorrow before saner skies return for Tuesday.
(But no matter. The precipitation will not affect the NFL games this afternoon!)
Currently, we are at 54 degrees here under overcast skies.

Have a Super Sunday, Folks.
And go Pack!!
