Weather-wise: 100% chance of rain for tomorrow, dry and normal temps for Christmas Eve & a high of 40 for Christmas Day & no snow.
Festivities:
Saturday: We'll go to the mall tomorrow for our annual Chinese lunch at the food court & people watching. We usually do it on Christmas Eve, but since it's on Sunday this year, we'll be at church. We are supposed to meet DH's parents at the mall because FIL does all of his Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve. However, MIL called me at lunch to ask about a gift he wanted to get for DD, so maybe he is breaking it up over two days?
Sunday (Christmas Eve): Candlelight service at church at 11:00 a.m. I guess they will be putting up the blackout curtains over the windows for this. DD is playing the piano for one of the singers. We plan to eat lunch at one of our local restaurants. For a few years, it was our go-to place for our Christmas Eve dinner. They are closing at 3:00 p.m. this year, so we decided to go there again this year. No plans after that except DD has requested that we make chocolate chip cookies. I always watch the Little House on the Prairie episode: The Christmas They Never Forgot & It's a Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve. We might let her opens some of her gifts from us since we have to be up and out of the house early on Christmas morning. That way we wouldn't have to either get up early or rush the gift opening process our our little three person family. We're leaving that up to her.
Monday (Christmas Day): Maybe doing our little family gift exchange (see above). Christmas breakfast & gift exchange with DH's family. SIL has a blended family, so all the kids need to be with the other parents for lunch. Christmas dinner & gift exchange with my family. This year we're having soups, sandwiches & finger foods. I'm bringing the chili, mom's making potato soup, & sister's making vegetable soup. DH will make homemade pumpkin pies for both family gathers. Yes, we have pumpkin pie for breakfast dessert! DD will spend the night with my parent on Christmas night. It has become a tradition for the four granddaughters to get matching pjs & spend the night with Grammy & Poppy on Christmas night.
Tuesday: DH & I are both off work that day. Hopefully it will be mostly a day of rest & recovery! I don't know what time we'll pick DD up from my parent's house.
I hope each & every one of you here have a wonderful rest of December. It's so good to have others who have the love of Christmas in common with me to share the entire year with. This is our time!
