Wont be long Noodle and you will be having to switch out last years Christmas stuff for this years rotation.
** OFFICIAL THREAD - CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN 2017 **
Hello, Folks!
For the 11th consecutive year here at My Merry Christmas (and the 14th year overall) it is time to begin another Countdown!
Here are the statistics since we began the Season Countdown idea 13 years ago:
2004 = 1,217 posts (Christmas.com) = 3.3 posts per day.
2005 = Over 2,700 posts (Christmas.com) = over 7.4 posts per day.
2006 = 3,756 posts (The Christmas Place) = 10.3 posts per day.
2007 = 1,957 posts (My Merry Christmas, where the thread was not launched until July) = 12.1 posts per day.
2008 = 5,103 posts = 13.9 posts per day.
2009 = 8,231 posts = 22.6 posts per day.
2010 = 16,226 posts = 44.5 posts per day.
2011 = 31,091 posts = 85.2 posts per day.
2012 = 39,183 posts = 107.1 posts per day.
2013 = 59,747 posts = 163.7 posts per day.
2014 = 63,096 posts = 172.9 posts per day.
2015 = 56,859 posts = 155.8 posts per day.
2016 = 58,288 posts = 159.3 posts per day.
(Quite an impressive record, woudn't you say?)
And now, here we are ready to go again, at the start of 2017.
A word of explanation. We are running a dual countdown in this thread - one for Christmas Day and one for the start of the Christmas Season (November 13).
There seems to be general agreement that we look forward to the entire Christmas Season rather than just to Christmas Day itself.
But why November 13?
Well, it just seems about the right time to regard the season as arriving. That date is exactly 6 weeks before Christmas Day and is around the time the public at large is beginning to really get into the holiday spirit. Many of the stores have decorated. And starting the season then gives us exactly 50 days (Nov 13 through Jan 1) to enjoy being "within" the season, giving it a depth that is lacking with just the Christmas Day count by itself.
We also enjoy noting special "Milestones" along the way (see the chart below).
And there is one date you CERTAINLY do not want to miss! Many of us gather here on the evening of November 12 for our annual hour by hour and then minute by minute countdown to the start of the Season at midnight Eastern Time. It's something we really look forward to and is truly great fun!
Well OK then, Everybody.
Climb aboard once again to enjoy reading the posts and following the count, which begins today at 316 to the Season and 358 to Christmas Day.
Here is a list of our Christmas Season and Christmas Day countdown milestone markers:

Hey. Crabtree isn't the only shopping center still clinging to its Christmas decorations.
Our local grocery store still sports its holiday wreath.

Hello everyone. I have not been around nearly as much as I'd like to be. This year has started off busy!
I hope everyone is doing well. We were supposed to get a major ice storm in these parts but so far it hasn't been much. They did cancel work and school yesterday for everyone in my house. With MLK Day on Monday, it's a four day weekend for us.
I hope you all have a great Saturday.
Good Morning, Serious Season Supporters and Happy Holiday Helpers.
Let's check today's numbers, then get to the exciting news regarding our first Milestone marker of the new year.
Days to the Season: 302
Days to Christmas Day: 344
Now, hold on real tight to your mistletoe because I'm here to inform you that THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW we will arrive at the 300-day Season Window and the very next day, will start a 200's level count sequence to the commencement of Christmas Season 2017.
(Take that, Post-Christmas Blues!)
Well, we took a chilly turn yesterday with clouds and temps not out of the 40's all day. A gradual warming trend will start today and we have begun it at 48 degrees here in central NC under somewhat cloudy skies.
Have a Super Sunday, fellow Travelers.
And if you are of a mind to, support your local Packers this afternoon!
Good morning everyone!
Not much going on here today. I need to grade some papers, but other than that not too much going on. Tomorrow is my youngest son's birthday. So tomorrow will be a bit busier. We are taking him and a friend to a place called Scene 75. It has video games, laser tag, and other games. It is a really neat place.
Outside it is cloudy with a little ice left over on the trees and untreated areas. But that will melt as the temperatures work back up into the 50s.
Well, everyone have a wonderful day!
I need to go drink some coffee before I fall back asleep!
Morning! How's everyone's weekend going? Mine has been more relaxed just like last weekend. I guess that's one positive about January weekends. My tree will stay up for 2 more weeks (still). I will take it down on the 29th. Today is the end of the 1st half of January already. Yikes. Wasn't yesterday Christmas? I think January has become an extended month of Christmas to me with the way I've left my tree and lights up these past 2 January's. Neighbors are helping by keeping theirs up too. Have a few errands to do and some more relaxing. Hope everyone has a great day!
Morning all!! Overcast and gloomy looking outside today. Much to do inside but nothing I really want to do..lol
There's no way I can catch up on the 62 pages I've missed in the new countdown thread. Once again my husband's chronic pain required more time and attention than usual and then I got so busy with my work deadlines.
The good news is, I'm booking Nov. 13th off as a vacation day so I can stay awake to greet the start of the 2017 "in Season" with y'all.
Been a tough week and a half; trying to help a father and son grieve the sudden loss of their wife/mom at the age of 26 (heart failure) and a co-worker who lost her father (73 yrs.) who was more than a "rock" for the family.
Sad things happen in life and although I can look at life and death with logic; it still hurts. I'm compassionate and can usually help people through their grief with a caring nature and strong resolve.
My prayers include many of you with intent and all of you in generalities.
