Good morning ~
Happy Sunday!
We were expecting some snow today but the storm has shifted and there will be no accumulations. It's going to be mostly cloudy with a high of 38 degrees. Can't believe it's the last full day of Winter. We will be heading to my in-laws today for a belated St. Patrick's Day dinner of corned beef & cabbage :)
I hope everyone is well and has a beautiful day!
xx

Morning MMC! We received about an inch of snow last night on the eve of the last day of winter. Now here we are and wasn't it just yesterday we were starting winter only a few days before our favorite days of the year? Now here we are a full season almost gone. That's ok though because the spring, summer and of course the best season autumn are all ahead of us to enjoy and bring us back to the doorstep of Christmas again. For now enjoy your last day of winter!

Good Sunday morning everyone! Lots to do today, since yesterday was all about taking it easy and relaxing. The sun is out again and it gets above freezing in the afternoons, so some of the snow is starting to melt. Hope everyone will have a great day!

Greetings to one and all this Sunday morning. Just got off work and can't complain about the weather. Currently 37 (not even coat weather) and will get to the mid 60's today. Almost all of the snow from last weekend is gone now and it may be time for the old crabgrass preventer to be put down.
Time for some coffee and a little Bible study before church this AM. Take care all and I'll try to pop back in latyer today... after a nap of course.

Good Morning, Friendly Cyber-Neighbors.

And there's nothing quite like the weekend to put everyone in a friendly mood.

This will help, too:
Days to the Season: 239
Days to Christmas Day: 281

And to finish the job, be cognizant of the fact that exactly and precisely ONE WEEK from today, we will have completed the entire first QUARTER of our return visit to Christmas Day.
(Yep. My mood is definitely now friendly. How about yours?)

While we did have some rain early yesterday, the temperatures were quite moderate and all in all, we had a pretty nice day.
Today should be a bit cooler but still not out of keeping with the fact that we are now on the doorstep of official Spring, which commences tomorrow.
We currently perceive 46.9 degrees here on our digital back door thermometer.

Have a Super Sunday, Folks!
And I hope you are enjoying the NCAA College Basketball tournament, which continues today.

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to come on and say hello. It's been a while since my last post. Wanted to see what everyone is up to. I know I sort of dropped off here a bit, I've just been busy with work and trying to figure out my next move in life. But I'm still around, and I still very much consider MMC an important place for me to live out my love for the season year round. It occurred to me a little while ago if anybody would even remember me being on here. After reading through the last page here I'm glad to see that people still have that pining for the Holidays.

I've been meaning to log in and post a few things. Not too long ago I had the urge to watch a few Christmas movies, so I put on National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and saw Elf when it came on TV. I went to Disneyland a couple weeks ago, and any time I'm there I always stop and see the ornaments they have up year round.

Most recently, though, I got to that point where I'm ready to finally delete most of my DVR recordings from the season. Sometimes you just can't quite get rid of them, even if you haven't watched them in a while and have no intention of doing so. But I think I will fairly soon. My DVR is starting to get full. I'll keep a select few but delete most of them. I also did some rearranging in my room, where even though my decorations came down in late January, I still had quite a few things arranged in the way I had them arranged during the season. In my mind that was sort of the last remnants of the season, does anyone else do that? Anyways, I'll be moving soon, and I generally needed to do some cleaning up, so a lot of that stuff is no longer the way I had it during the season.

Lately I've found myself pining for the October/Halloween season, which to be honest, rivals my love for Christmas. The only thing that makes it easy to move on from is when it ends, the Christmas season begins. So when March came I was happy because it means only 6 months until the whole season is here again, which, I think many would agree, starts in September.

Still though, in the back of my mind, I do have those moments where I remain just so perplexed at the differences in how we see the day when it is the season versus when it isn't. Like when I get off work, that sense of urgency to get home that I had when it was the season just isn't there anymore. Or when I wake up in the morning, I just don't have that celebratory moment anymore that I usually have upon waking up every morning during the season. It's alright, it's life. But it does genuinely keep me pining for the season in that way. Sometimes I'll take the long way home like I used to to see all the lights everyone had up and I'll just reimagine how vibrant everything was.

How is everyone else doing? I'm curious now that we're really in the off season, do you all still feel that longing for Christmas and do things in your life to keep it alive? What sort of things do you do?

Anyways, I hope everyone is doing well. It's good to know I'm always welcome here anytime.

Good to see you Noodle! I think with all the snow that some of our areas have been getting in March we've been able to keep that Christmas spirit alive through the winter heading now into early spring almost. And personally I come to MMC to keep it alive all year and also enjoy my Christmas DVD'S during these "offseason" months!

Totally agree with September starting the season. I really love Halloween and October as well. It's always great to see those first Halloween decorations up on people's front lawns and porches in late September or so. It really starts about 3-4 months of the epic decorative season. Just about halfway there now so the hard part is just about over!

I always look at Memorial Day as being the biggest turning point cause then you're really heading into summer pretty much. Then it's just one really long road through the summer with at the end of it everything starting all over again (The Bers). We have 10 weeks till that starts up so 70 days from now.

Yeah Memorial Day is big, but I think the biggest day of any countdown is really that halfway marker. I always envision each day after the halfway point as swinging the advantage more and more in our favor. Come late June we can say Christmas 2017 is closer than the one we left behind in 2016. The thing I look forward to the most though is the start of Christmas season and that halfway point is starting to come into view. Summer is a bit of a long road, but I try to enjoy it. It is the final season before the Fall and mentally there is a kind of cool down to the finish line mentality I can feel. I always call August "Cusp Month" On the cusp of all the greatness to come and August mentally kinda connects to Sept and Oct. Oh well we will revisit all this later, gotta deal with Spring and mud season here first!
